Today is day 9 for me and I think the first day I haven’t needed a 3hr + nap. I’ve been sleeping 10 or 11 pm to 7:30-8 am (besides the first few days when it was even more sleep)

I slept for about 12 hours last night and have barely done anything today. I'm beat. This is gonna be tough.

H slept a LOT the first few days. His energy is still not to where it was, but is getting better.
I’m 9 months out from my positive and still bit a brick wall around 2-3p nearly every day. It isn’t a time I can nap, so I just push through and try to manage

I finally got covid after all this time and this fatigue is no joke. I’m almost a week out from the positive test and I can’t believe how exhausted I still am. I’ve never felt anything like this before. I know it’s different for everyone, but how soon did other people start feeling back to normal? I am so sorry. It really is unbelievable. It took me at least a month to feel close to baseline bit even then, I would have "rebound" days where I was back to square one for.....at least 6 months

CVS let us schedule and get our boosters yesterday. (I could NOT schedule my teenagers so, presumably, they don’t have Pfizer in stock yet)
This is my first vaccine after having COVID. COVID itself as well as my 2 dose + earlier booster ALL kicked my butt. I was really sick for 12-24 hours with each of my previous doses and sick enough for Paxlovid with the virus.
This one? Nada. Nothing. My arm was a little sore. But that’s it.
All 4 of my doses have been Moderna.
I am pleasantly surprised and kind of kicking myself for not getting my flu vaccine too.

A question for you knowledgeable people. My 74 year old, generally healthy (but still has a few minor, common, conditions) mom has had her regular vaccines plus two boosters. Has not had covid yet. Should she get a new omicron booster as long as its been 3 months? Her main exposure risks are my children, but she does have air travel planned this fall - and will/does mask - but then will be exposed to her other grandchildren.
More like, does she just keep getting a new booster every 3-6 months at this point?

stringy , this one is important because it is the updated omicron formula so I'd say absolutely worth getting it. Beyond this booster, I'm not sure what the plan is (I've not seen it discussed yet).

My oldest was a bit under the weather Friday so I canceled all of our weekend plans and we stayed home and I'm glad I did, bc he tested positive last night. He's fine, just a really annoying cough.

Oh no, was he the one who got stuck with you in the hotel post vacation? Either way I hope his symptoms stay mild.

I'm sorry, dc2london. I hope it stays mild and ceases annoyances soon. Is this the same one who had it in Jamaica?

dc2london, so sorry for him! I'm laughably trying to isolate from the family, but H doesn't get time off work unless he's sick, and I still have two kids. DD2 is back at school today, because she's all better. H let DD1 stay home because she had a bad headache. She's still negative, at least. And so is he. I'm just so exhausted.

My mom and brother have COVID, and I found out on Facebook. I want them both to be well; my mom went to the doctor for Paxlovid yesterday. But also damn it I'm annoyed. Why am I always the last to know.

I'm sorry for all of the positives everyone is getting!
4/5 of us tested positive this weekend and our pediatrician told us to presume positive with the other one based on symptoms. So we're all home for the week. The youngest seem 100% fine and I wouldn't have known if we didn't test everyone after my and my H's tests came back. The oldest didn't turn positive until yesterday even though we were masking and trying to isolate her as much as possible. I actually think my middle one was patient zero, because she randomly said her throat felt funny early last week. I thought it was allergies/angling for Popsicles and she didn't mention it again. But this weekend she was tired, runny nose, sneezing, etc. She's been negative everyday though.
Anyways, none of that was probably relevant, but when did you guys let your kids resume activities? Like I know 5 days home then 5 days in a mask for school, but two of them are supposed to have sports next Saturday (ice skating / soccer) and if it was a school day they could go back, but to me school is a necessity and sports are a luxury. I am planning on rapid testing again before resuming anything and have a decent stash of tests.

Sorry for all the positives Hope everyone feels better soon! DD had her first day of school today. We had been going back and forth about sending her with a mask until the last possible second, since we figured she'd be one of the only kids wearing one (and her best friend who had worn one all last year wasn't going to this year). We decided on having her bring one on a lanyard, and telling her she didn't need to wear it in the classroom or outside, but in crowded areas with other classes (e.g., assemblies) or if she felt uncomfortable/someone seemed sick she could put it on. She told me today that she was constantly taking it off and back on in class anytime someone coughed, poor kiddo. I couldn't completely tell if she was doing it because she wanted it or thought that was what we wanted. Apparently only one other kid in her class was wearing a mask. It is such a tough balance between trying to keep us safe, and also not making DD feel singled out. I feel like 3rd grade is where social relationships start to become really important and I don't want her to suffer because she is the "only one" with a mask. Of course, I also don't want her to feel the need to follow the crowd if the crowd is doing something dumb. How are other folks navigating masking (or not) in school? (Our county is yellow according the new CDC map right now.)

As long as everyone is feeling fine, I'd resume school and activities while masking Day 5.

Just booked my booster for next Friday, the day after I have to go back for another mammogram. (I was warned this might happen since it was my first, so not panicking lol) Made sure not to schedule it before because the lymph swelling I had last year was insane.

To follow up on this, looks like the general strategy will be a yearly booster after this omicron dose, like/with a flu shot. ETA THOUGH, there is dissent among epis on twitter, so who knows what the difference between official guidance and best practice will be.

My niece is the only one in her class wearing a mask and it is driving my sister berserk 😞

I'm not a kid But except dr/hospital where still required I'm always the only one in a mask. So I wear n95 and hope for the best.

Yeah I don’t know how helpful an annual shot will be if effectiveness wanes within a few months. Hopefully they know something we don’t about longer lasting vaccines coming out?

It sounds like given the % of people with shots in arms, that their most likely path of compliance is annual. I don't get the impression that anything longer lasting is around the corner, but it's being worked on for sure. And who knows what the next VOC will be or if a new formula will be required.
