I’m sitting outside just relaxing. This is the first September I’ve had where it’s pleasant outside. It’s so nice in the evenings that I look forward to just sitting on my patio chair. I think I’ll start getting some reading in while I sit. Looks like I will have a longer fall season here and I’m not mad at that at all.

If my coworkers were asked to describe me, I’m pretty sure they’d say she’s a bitch that gets shit done. This is why we get along...pretty sure thats how most people would describe me. At least the bitch part

In other news, our school board is meeting and voting on a mask mandate tonight. I kind of wanted to go, but I just checked in on the live stream and I’m glad I didn’t. My head would explode listening to these idiots. If y’all didn’t know, masks increase the rate of transmission. 🙄🙄🙄 Based on how this wave is affecting our district, I really hope the school board members do what is right, but that hope I’m trying to muster won’t get very far I’m sure. 😒

lahdeedah evie had tumbling tonight. I was standing outside a window of the room she was in and 3 mom who were clearly friends, were standing close by. They were talking quite loudly about how they're anti Vax, you can't tell me what do do to my kid, all have had it, even before it was im the states, etc. It was the most annoying conversation to overhear and I wanted to scream at them.

lahdeedah gah! I saw your state on the NYTimes tracker and it was sooo dark. Hopefully more kids wear them now, even with the opt out option🙄

My favorite interview story was when G (MH) was interviewing he wanted to say something about how good he is at structural positioning and said sexual positioning.

I was not officially part of the interview but got to listen in and someone who was interviewing for an entry level spot on the team asked when she can become a manager. It took a lot not to laugh. When my manager explained things to her she shut down and just failed the interview. Our director recommended her so it was painful to hear him be told she interviewed poorly. He accepted it but you can tell he was frustrated. I guess she was shocked she didn’t get the job.

I'm the best ever one day and a raging bitch the next 🤷♀️ and they all tattle on me like children to my dad when I enforce policies that my dad decided on..

People at work would say I'm quiet, but nice and get work done quickly and efficiently. My dream retirement would be for someone at work to ask about me and a bunch shrug their shoulders while one comments that I retired 2 months ago. No ceremony, no potluck, just disappearing and going on an awesome vacation. An Irish goodbye to the workplace.

@mwhi my go to weakness is that I am a perfectionist. If I get a look back that says they don’t want that then I talk about how I’ve learned to chill about it and still maintain high quality work.
I hate that question as well. We do a lot of “tell me about a time when..” questions. I don’t love them but it helps to see how quick people are on their feet and their communication skills.

I hate those questions too...tell me about a time you had a confrontation with a coworker and how it was resolved. Well, someone had to calm me down so I didn't punch him in his dumb face, then I ignored him while I did the work myself. But communication and respecting others opinions at least came out on that one.

My weakness is being overly critical of myself and work. My designer is always happy with me 😂.
Oh and I suck at delegating and I’m the annoying voice of reason in my team of dreamers…

He got a second interview but he thinks just because they wanted to hear whatever else he would say. He did not get the job lol.

mwhip good luck today! trtlcrzy do you know what the estimate is for how long you need braces? Both my kids have jacked up teeth so they'll both need them. Cass asked me if she could get Invisaline instead of braces. Sorry kid! Unless child labor returns and you can start working no can do! 2 to 2.5 years. My sister just put my 2 teenage nieces in braces and they have a similar timeline. Maybe slightly shorter. I hear that the earlier you get them on the shorter the time usually. Also, Invisalign is not that much more than traditional braces, from what I hear. Lots to keep track of with all the trays though.

My teeth were really jacked up and I had braces for 5.5 years with headgear and the whole shebang. Really added to my social quotient. Interesting that Invisalign isn't too much more, but with the way my kids keep track of their stuff I'd rather have something cemented to their face.

How much do braces run these days? DS1’s were about $5,000. My insurance covered $1,000 and we did 2 year interest free finance on the rest that pays directly from our HSA account so I didn’t really feel it so much. He only needed them for 18 months. His doctor has been good and fixed all the breaks, provided a spin toothbrush, and supplied us with all his hockey mouth guards for no additional fee. They also replaced these pre-braces retainers that he lost for no charge. He had permanent retainers built in behind his teeth now. We just went for his 2 month follow up since he got them removed and they offered some laser treatment to even out his gums for no additional charge. We are still thinking on that one and obviously can’t do anything about it with covid now anyway.

I follow a celebrity stylist on IG and she was trying this company called Byte for alignment. She had braces before but stopped using her retainer and her teeth shifted. It sounded pretty neat and cheaper than full on braces, but not sure if it’s for kids or not. They send you molds, you send it in, and they send you back trays. She did a nighttime program so she only wore them at night. It probably better for smaller fixes though, not major shifting. I haven’t really done my research, just what I’ve seen on her stories.
M will definitely need braces. I’m expecting a referral for an orthodontist the next time we go to the dentist. 😩

How much do braces run these days? M's were $5k, insurance covered half. Thankfully our dentist also does ortho so it's a one-stop-shop for us. That covers everything. She had the mouth stretcher thing for a while and the cement block things put on some teeth to correct her bite. Actual braces will come later. After all my dental work I didn't know some people need their retainer...forever. My front teeth went back to being slightly crooked, but I look at it as "character" (because I don't want to do orthodontics ever again).

peachsmama Cs dentist said the same. I think they want to do the palette expander later this year. I have ptsd from mine and am dreading it but I’m sure it’s got to be better than the 80s. inthekitty I didn’t wear my retainers enough and a tooth slipped back. It’s super annoying and I wish I wasn’t such a teenager about it back then.

How much do braces run these days? Before insurance mine are around 6000. I have standard metal brackets everywhere except my top 6 front teeth, I have the clear brackets and they cost extra.

I'm really glad to hear these braces prices. I thought they were double the amount that you all are listing so that's good for future me bc I know both kids will need them!
