What can I have for a dessert type thing for someone doing whole 30? Nothing? Fruit. Baked fruit. Baked apples or grilled peaches with cinnamon and nuts. No sugar. And a homemade whipped coconut milk (full fat) as a whipped cream.

What can I have for a dessert type thing for someone doing whole 30? I mean, technically part of the point is to re-set your sweet tooth and your food habits and that desire to have a little something sweet after a meal. But that being said. Those Lara bar type date and nut bars or squares would technically be whole30. Dates and almonds and unsweetened dried coconut flakes and cacao powder processed and pressed and chilled and cut into squares with some flaky sea salt might be nice. A home made coconut milk ice cream with full fat coconut milk or coconut cream and banana for sweetness and another sweet fruit like maybe cherries would be delicious. Or with cacao powder and almond butter? But keep in mind that without softeners and stabilizers, coconut milk ice cream freezes stupid hard. Maybe even just super simple like fresh sweet strawberries and hand made coconut milk whipped cream.

It's going to be 90 degrees outside today and I'm sitting here drinking a hot apple crisp machiatto and salted caramel macarons, like the basic bitch that I am.
I'm still hell no on anything pumpkin flavored though, it is August and I do have some standards.

The letter from the school with J's teacher assignment, school protocols, and whether or not he got into the immersion program is sitting in my mailbox right now (we are out of town until Sunday) and I'm trying to decide if I should be a normal person and wait patiently until I get home or text my neighbor and ask her to open it and take a picture of the letter and send it to me. My anxiety about sending my baby to school is sky high. It's OTT, I know.

My cousin is coming to visit and I thought it would be nice to prepare something he could enjoy. But I will just have fresh fruit available, I guess. We have lots of peaches around this time of year.

One week into school and the kids had their first 2-h delay for fog. Country problems.

I'm still hell no on anything pumpkin flavored though, it is August and I do have some standards. I had to bust out the pumpkin spice protein powder this morning Bc it was all I had left and my new shipment doesn’t arrive until tomorrow. And I was kinda mad Bc it isn’t even September yet and sooooo hot outside. But I was also like eh what is 5 calendar days difference. But then it wasn’t even very good. So I was totally mad. But hell yes to living your best breakfast life. Would be a basic bitch with you any day.

They also stalk the mail man to see when they will be delivered.

I think even dark chocolate has some sugar in it. Unless it is like 90%. And then it’s so bitter I’m not sure it would even be dessert. 🤷🏼♀️

I had already decided that I wasn't going back to doing senior care after my mat leave is off, but I was kind of thinking that I might, in the future, have to get a part time job. My girlfriend is a supervisor of "projects" for an alarm monitoring company, and does mostly data entry. She joked with me a while ago about me coming to work for her. I said a while later "no, actually, seriously if something comes up". She asked me the other day if I'd be interested in a job, and told me yesterday that I can do it. So first full week of September I'll be starting a new job. It's perfect for a stay at home mom - part time, at home, and I can work when I want as long as it gets done. I'm so happy about it! MH actually went out and bought me a laptop yesterday just as a word processor.

Poof.
I haven't read any news these past few days and now that I'm just catching up about the California wildfires 2 hours away from us, my post was super insensitive. Please pray for the firefighters' safety and for those who are evacuating.

Yesterday, DS2 broke the rubber buttons off of my car’s key fob (the front piece that allows you to lock/unlock). Now it’s held together with many layers of scotch tape. Last week, he broke the door handle off of MH’s car.

We went to a big consignment sale on Saturday and R got a bunch of clothes. We're trying to help her with fashion choices, so I put together 27 different outfits (shoe choice included) and took photos of them. She now has laminated photo grids of outfits to choose from. I'm hoping this makes getting ready for school a little smoother. We even scrubbed her pink Nikes and got them looking so much better/brighter, so I think she's excited to wear them again.

Both my kids classes have an Instagram and it’s very weird to just be scrolling and see my kids in school.
But I really appreciate it- especially for P. Who is in K y’all.

My 7 year old has no idea how to tie shoelaces. Are they going to kick him out of 1st grade? He doesn't even have laced shoes to practice on.

Don’t worry, R (almost 7, 1st grade) doesn’t either and she also can’t figure out how to pump her legs on the swing either when her sisters (newly 5) have been doing it for a solid 2 years now. I think it’s like babies. They all hit the milestones when they’re ready and the range of “normal” is very big.

My 6.5y/o has never had shoes with shoelaces. I think if I gave him shoes with laces and asked him to tie them he would be absolutely bewildered. Velcro4lyfe

Ok good, thank you all for your reassurances. There were a few FB posts from people about their kindergarteners/1st graders going off to school in their sneakers that they tied all by themselves and I was like "oh shit".

Lol my 9 year old can barely tie, and when she does it only lasts for about an hour. I finally gave up and bought my 2nd grader no-tie laces this weekend Bc I was tired of her not wearing shoes she already owns Bc they are laced. Whatever. She will learn before college. In these times, honestly tying a damn shoe is the least of my concerns. When they decide they really want to learn, they will figure it out in a day. Just like she did with braiding.
