I thought I read though that only 2 lived past infancy, and none reached adulthood though and that it's speculated she had a negative blood type, which created the complications (why the rhogam shot is given now to negative blood type mothers) This was mentioned in the show was it not? When the king (who I assume had some sort of dementia?) asked about their daughter and she has to tell him she passed? That part was very sad but went so quick... does the queen have a book in this series? No, she doesn't. The Queen is really only barely mentioned in the first book. Her role was expanded for the series.

Could I have been reading about someone else? Hm

Hope it's okay that I'm jumping in but I had a question.
Does it mention in the book (or in the show and I missed it) that the Bridgerton's were named in alphabetical order and it's a family tradition? I know Simon said it at the end and was really confused as to why he said it. Then I looked it up and the kids in order of birth are- Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Daphne, Eloise... and the other 3 I can't remember. But was it mentioned?
Thank you!

Oh yes, it plays big in the book Francesca, Gregory, and Hyacnith. Lady Whistledown would talk about how annoying the alphabetical names were.

I honestly never noticed the alphabet names til I had to look it up. I thought Daphne was at least older than Colin but guess not. ETA- and thanks for the other 3 names. Francesca and Gregory sound familiar. Hyacnith does not... I probably thought it was something else since I'm not familiar with that word/name.

Hm I'm no expert on royal history so I had to look it up on Wikipedia - only three of their children predeceased them (including Princess Amelia who was mentioned in the show). So it must be someone else who had the devastating misfortune to have so many children who didn't survive.

She had 15 children and they all passed before adulthood and to appease her, her husband gave her a bunny for each child (or something like that... I watched it 2 years ago once). ETA- looked it up and it was 17 kids and one lived til 11 and that was the oldest.

Whenever Prince Friedrich came on, this is what I thought of... sad it didn't happen on this show (given how others showed off their business)

I just binged all the episodes in 2 days. Mostly while working so I know I probably missed a lot.
I loved Penelope. I can't decide if I'm ignoring the Marina stuff because I want to love her still or if I really don't think what she did was wrong. She tried to get Marina to be truthful with Colin, but then she also attempted to tell Colin too and he blew her off.
I honestly didn't even realize it was a book series, I live under a rock lately. Might have to check them out.

If you don’t want to read the whole series, you can just read penelope’s book: romancing mr bridgerton

I'm currently 2/3rds through reading the Eloise/Marina book and it is definitely a very different story than what is set up in season 1. I keep waiting for the big reveal... and it's not coming.

I'm assuming each season of the show will be each book in order. I might be making some book purchases today.

MH and I just finished the show yesterday and I had thoughts. TW and spoilers if a man ejaculated in a woman while she was saying “wait” and was clearly as concerned as Simon was, people would be shouting rape/assault. It isn’t okay and she was quite clearly and knowingly forcing it. The look on her face was calculating and quite frankly disgusting. I hated her the whole rest of the show. Yes he took advantage of her lack of knowledge probably, and some of her informed constent was gone too. She had a right to be upset that he misled her. But and big but... she made out with him in the garden. Forced him to marry her, knew ahead of time that they wouldn’t have kids but then she assulted him. Man I hated her for that. And the show centers her and her anger over being misled instead of his feelings as well. Clearly I am angry about this. I never read the books.

Anyone on Facebook, Julia Quinn posted a video of the cast reading from her novel. It’s hilarious.

I think there was a reason for changing Marina's character and I didn't hate her. I'm guessing she will still suffer the same fate eventually as the original character in the books though.
I think the show is setting us up for actual growth in characters whose books are to come like Penelope which will end up making the show more interesting in future seasons but can be frustrating now.
