Taitai UGH. I feel like right now everyone needs to be incredibly conservative / err on the side of caution with their kids' illnesses, but I know it won't happen because people are so darn selfish. I was thinking of you guys over there and how you said community spread numbers are low (non-existent?) and that is so hard to believe. Things in the US are just a complete and utter mess. It's really sad. I can't remember what I've said here. DS2 seems to be completely daytime trained and wakes up from naps/overnight dry quite a bit. I guess there is ONE THING that was easier with DS2 than DS1 - DS1 was pretty easy too but he was really hesitant to go in public at times and DS2 does not care where we are. He'll go wherever. Good job, kiddo! ETA to be clear we don't take the boys anywhere public. But my niece got married a couple weeks ago (was originally supposed to in May) and though it wasn't quite like they envisioned due to covid, it was a lovely ceremony. The boys were ring bearers and DS2 was barely a week into PT and he even pooped on a toilet while we were at the wedding.
Also, I'm really upset at our previous DCP. To refresh your memories, she went on a cruise in March when everything was blowing up in the US. She came back feeling ill and had to close while she got better and waited for her covid test to come back. She stayed closed when our state closed down, then closed for the summer, then closed for good as she's decided to homeschool her kids. Well we had a credit balance with her and when she notified us that she was not re-opening I asked to be reimbursed for the days we'd paid that she was closed. She is refusing and I'm just really struggling with it. I guess it isn't the money so much (couple hundred dollars and we could def use it but it isn't taking food from our kids or anything), but we've been with her for almost 5 years, they feel like family, and she's essentially stealing from us. It isn't our fault she choose to go on a trip at the worst possible time ever and had to be closed because of that decision. Just needed to get that out.

Taitai I would be so mad. We all know our kids and with COVID I feel like everyone who cares has got more sensitive and can tell if it’s allergies or something else. And even if its not allergies, like CoachTsWife, why do you risk it? Ugh people! CoachTsWife That’s so disappointing, I can’t believe she didn’t even want to meet you halfway at the minimum.

August Blooms so glad to hear your mom is experiencing a positive treatment. Ahhh...we could've had a Tesla but nauseatingly, taxes this yr was horrendous and took that away. Not that we needed a car but just the thought of how much makes me want to puke repeatedly. Taitai seriously WTF with your friend...especially with COVID now, I am seriously paranoid and don't trust anyone. like what CoachTsWife said, people are inherently selfish and that's this pandemic has ousted them out; those people I will keep at arms length and when this is over, I will hug my real friends tightly because we can count on each other's support. CoachTsWife that just seems unethical. Since it's a home daycare, did you sign any agreements? It must be hard with a loss income but it's hard for everyone right now. It will irk me too with her refusal to return what is due to you. Ugh! People! curmudgeon Nooooo!!! in the middle of summer too! you're working from home again right and with COVID, at least you're not going anywhere much. danvers, gosh! I would've though they'd have stiff protocols in place already since the pandemic started months ago.

I guess I've apparently taken social distancing online too lol! I started making masks again so it's been keeping me busy and the boys are just little destructors! So hubs took part of this week off and we went up to the mountains yesterday, well we tried but there were so many people from out of state ( practically all license plates were from TX! ) at the trail head. NTY to that so we decided to just go elsewhere and head back down. We got lucky and found a stretch of space along the river and had a nice picnic. We weren't prepared to play in water so by the time, we were ready to leave, DS ended up in just his underwear on the ride home lol! I did have a chance of clothes in the car for them but DS got them all wet. *headsmack* We are going to attempt heading farther to the never summer mountains tomorrow. This will be the longest road trip for the kids yet! 2ish hours. Wish us luck.

Thanks for the sympathies everyone about my selfish friend. Pre-covid days, I honestly wouldn’t care about some other kid giving my kids a runny nose, but unfortunately the reality is that a runny nose now means DS2 can’t go to school. In order to get DS2 back in to school, I now need a doctor’s certificate, saying he is covid free. So DS2 (whenever his symptoms stop) will have to visit the doctor and get that uncomfortable COVID test. DS2 and I also have to deal with potentially getting exposed to other germs at the pediatric area of our hospital, which is where we can get him tested and the certificate issued. I’m not going to bribe a doctor (which is what she likely did) to say it’s allergies...because it’s clearly not allergies. Aaaand....I found out her kid had a fever for 84 hours the week before she brought her over for the play date. It just gets worse! Why did she not tell me??? It really is true that this pandemic is exposing how selfish some people are - I would never have expected her to do something like this. I’m just really pissed at her. I know DS2 doesn’t have COVID - since we have had no cases of community transmission in this country for over 2 months - but the protocols for his school are still super strict, and there is no way around getting him tested if I want DS2 back in school Arghhhhhhhhh. I just hope DS1 doesn’t get it, and then we have to go through the same thing with pulling him out of school and getting him tested for covid. duskymonkey Gorgeous pics! Glad you all had a fun time out, and I’m sure your next adventure to the mountains will be a success! CoachTsWife That is not right about your DCP not giving you a refund. Have you pointed out to her that it was her decision in the first place to go on the cruise - despite warnings at the time that it was a risky activity? You should not have to pay the consequences of her stupid decision making. I remember that well - I remember being shocked that she went on the cruise (particularly as a DCP) and not surprised at all that she came back sick. People.

duskymonkey yes, we had a contract with her as she is licensed. I think we were overlooking some things since we liked her so much. Like over Christmas break she told us we could not send the boys, even though she was open, since my husband is a teacher and she knew he was off. We probably wouldn't have sent them anyway since we were home most of the days, but to tell us they are not vacation days, she'll be watching other kids, but we cannot send our kids but must still pay, definitely didn't seem right. She basically took an extra week+ of paid vacation. From August - March we'd paid her for 3+ weeks where we had to find alternate care or stay home with them. No complaints about paying for her days off, but she was really bending rules in the last 6 months, even before Covid. Taitai I haven't responded since she told us that and she hasn't reached out either. She still owes us some personal belongings and receipts for 2020 so that I can submit them to my flex daycare reimbursement account, so I will have to eventually contact her. What's the worst part is that she has posted videos to the private facebook group wishing all the kids Happy Birthday as they have come up, even after she closed. DS1's birthday was last Friday and she did nothing, not even a text. I'm just really disappointed in the whole situation.

Taitai I’d be ticked too. Any other time and wouldn’t think of thing of it but as strict as schools and daycares are this isn’t the time to chance it! duskymonkey I’m pretty certain my area was operating under the assumption that it won’t get that bad here and... well... here we are. 🤦♀️ CoachTsWife you are nicer than me. $ is $ and I’d be ticked about how everything ended. Our state gave $ to daycares closed due to Covid-19 so hopefully she wasn’t double collecting or anything with everyone like you all either. How frustrating!!!!!

School has been delayed a week due to Covid-19. Not sure what a week will do for us but I’m excited for more time with the girls. We went to a state park this afternoon to swim and it was empty! The girls swam for a couple hours and should sleep great tonight.
I’m headed to get a haircut tomorrow. I love my hairdresser and her small shop has taken a ton of precautions so I feel fine going. I desperately need something done before school starts too and it will be nice to have some quiet from everyone at home for a bit as well.

Oooh Taitai nothing makes me angrier than people who knowingly spread an illness. I’d be so mad, especially since she knew he had a fever prior. Hope your little guy gets over the virus quickly so he can return to daycare.

Is anyone using baby gates still? Especially on stairs? We have been in a one story but the new place is 2, and the top opening doesn’t have any walls around it, so I’m trying to find something that attaches to the banisters I guess? I’m also worried he will be able to climb it.
