Hey everyone my kids are all still shifty sleepers. And since there is no travel my every few months night or two away is not even a possibility.
How is everyone?

Same here. Noah has been having an awful sleep week with so little Sleep between my 12hr shifts I ended up with a migraine yesterday and had to cancel our dinner and tv hangout night with DH and I went to bed at 9:30. And woke up with a migraine. Meh
Otherwise, I’m okay. Went up on my anxiety meds so I am feeling better about that. Work is so goddamn busy. So many little micropreemies and we have 3 COVID rule out babies, it’s busy and it’s just constantly go go go.
I am off for three days this weekend and enjoying not being at work but DH may be working this weekend so I am bummed about that. At least the weather should be nice so we can continue our neighborhood walks / Noah’s bike riding / wagon pulling.

I am on the shit sleeper train too. L has been waking up every 2 or so hours so I’ve spent a lot of nights just sleeping in her room with her. Going to have to break that habit. Potty training with her has also been difficult. She just doesn’t care to walk herself to the potty as needed. But she’ll go on it if I make her at regular intervals.
My DS (5.5) has been having trouble sleeping too and being very needy/attention starved/emotional because we are out of his normal routine. He wants so badly to go back to PreK and be able to see his friends.
We have to cancel/postpone all of our schedule summer travel (including our year late 10th Anniversary kid free vacation). 😭😭😭

Sorry guys, I’ll join the toddler shit sleep antics. She sleeps but ends up in my bed every damn night so that sucks. I know I need to do something but I keep hoping it magically works itself out lol. She randomly sleeps in her own bed but it’s few and far between.
I’m so mentally tapped out like all of us I’m sure. Our state is such a hot mess with Covid it feels like we are never getting back to any ounce of normalcy soon.

Why is it that now that I am home 24/7 I have less time to write on here? Life is ok right now. We are tired of staying home. I work in the basement in the afternoons with my students via google meet and its tough. I am tired, they are tired, and its stressful trying to teach special ed kids through a screen.
J is only napping once or twice a week so the days are long. However, he sleeps great at night. I am sure yiu all remember what a sucky sleeper he was until he turned 2 so the fact that he sleeps 10.5 to 11.5 hours at night straight through makea the no napping not so bad.
We go from him being sweet and playing so well and awesome to the biggest meltdowns over everything. He wants to dk everything his way right now. When we go for walks he is pretty good until we have to tell him which way to go. I am surprised he is doing so well with us being in the house though. We try to walk everyday and go outside here once or twice. I am tired of the cold and rain.
One thing that sucks is the hitting. He jjst randomly smacks us for no reason or when hes mad and i am over it. Any tios for stopping that besides saying no or time out? We do both.
Miss you ladies. I feel like our board is dying and thats sad because we have been through so much together.

We’ve been good! We’ve ventured out a bit more, going for hikes early in the morning to avoid the crowds. It’s worked out well so far and was extremely needed. Potty training is going well! He’s been great with the little potty and we got a smaller toilet seat on the regular toilet. He’s not a huge fan, but he does use it if we take him to it. Still diapers for naps and nighttime tho. Idk when he’d be night trained. We aren’t taking him out of the crib yet and he almost always poops around 6am. Lol Thats awesome potty training is oing so well. I agree that getting outside more helps so much!

king26, I can’t believe J isn’t napping! But that’s a good chunk of overnight sleep. I also do not have a ton of time to post. With hitting, it just remind him hands are not for hitting. They are for high 5s, holding and hugging. It’s super frustrating when he lashes out in that way for me too. September will be a year of no nap here 😬

Is anyone looking into preschools for the fall? I know, the nap thing is insane but she would never go to sleep before 10:00 and it became consistent so it just didn’t seem worth it if I wanted any down time at night. As far as preschool, I have a place in mind but now part of me might just hold off now given the state of everything. We don’t need her to go per say, it was more of just getting her the socialization so I’m on the fence right now. What are you thinking about doing?

We registered L for a 3s program at the school DS has gone the past three years. Only Tues/Thurs mornings- Sept-May. We’ll see what happens. I need her to be better with potty training before then!
🤞They can have a normal-ish school year. DS is starting kindergarten and it’s making me anxious with all the unknowns.

N stills naps but it’s short. But I relish the hour / 1.5h I get from it.

Is anyone looking into preschools for the fall? We had to apply back in October for the preschool attached to the university/hospital system DH works with and he got in! We found out like two days before all this SIP shit went down. His bff got on the waiting list snd I feel SO awkward about it. We are hoping beyond hope they are open because he needs the socialization. We had been working on it and sharing with other kids and now it’s all gone to shit since the SIP. We applied because it’s connected to an elementary/middle/high school system that once you are in, you’re in. Living on the south side of Chicago city school district is dicey at best, it would be ok to send him to CPS for elementary school but not anything more, and this place, you have the best chance of getting in at the preschool level because afterwards, they only open spots if someone leaves. Super annoying and “competitive” but it’s our best option since we get more than 50% off tuition because of DH’s job at the hospital. Otherwise we’d be moving to the suburbs for free public school.

I should have clarified, this was exactly what I was registering M for, I toured it and have the paperwork but then the shit hit the fan. D1 also starts K in September and I’m also anxious. So hi life twin!

I cannot imagine. Its bad enough at 2 years 8 months, i cant imagine if he tried that 7 months ago. At least he still goes in his room for 45 minutes to an hour of quiet time.....for now.

Is anyone looking into preschools for the fall? We already put a deposit down on a 3s program for J but its more for socialization then anything else. Its where he went before all this happened. He will go Monday, wednesday and fridays 9 to 12. He really likes it there and his teacher will be the nursery teacher from church which is awesome. I say its for socialization because he's an only child, we dont have many kids his age around, and he still is delayed in speech. Academically he is awesome though. He can say and identify all the letters, numbers to 10, all colors, and all shapes. Its pretty funny because he doesnt say all that much but loves " finding" letters, numbers, and colors everywhrre we go. He frequently reads license plates 😆

R is doing OK with potty training. She only had one pee accident and she will initiate peeing. She says she has to poop, but hates waiting for it to come out and will start pooping before she will sit on the potty. Oh and she watches it come out and yells about it. She also says “oh, it’s just a ‘Gina” about her vagina all the time now.
They closed school in NY, so T is home for the next two months - hopefully camp can open at the end of June. I might send R back to daycare when the state opens - she needs to be busy and T has a hard time focusing on school work with R around.
My plan is still to send R to the YMCA T/Thr mornings in the Fall and daycare the rest of the week. I love that they swim for a half hour. We loved it for T and I want to give R the same experience.

R’s new thing is when we ask her do something, like put her clothes in the laundry basket or throw something away she replies with “I can’t, I only have two hands.” It is true, she only has two hands but they’re usually not doing anything else like ours are when we mention only having two hands when the kids want us to do things for them.

When we ask Noah to do or say something he doesn’t want to he says “I can’t I’m busy <insert whatever>”.... like “say bye to yaya”... “I can’t I’m busy with my truck” or “I can’t I’m busy walking”. Just like 😑 lol

Also, happy belated Mother’s Day! Hope you all were able to enjoy the day!
I worked and then got an awful migraine after I got home and Noah kicked me in the head while we were playing in the living room so I went to bed at 8:30 and we postponed dinner and drinks for tonight.
