Hello Friends! Its been quiet around here most of the month, how is everyone? Who else is ready for Spring?!
D1 is having issues with her tonsils, I think they have gotten bigger since our appointment in January. She is snoring more, her voice sounds more muffled and I think it is inevitable she will have to have them out but I'm just confused on what to do. The ENT we see is just *ok* and for me personally, I want a doctor that I feel really good about, especially if she is operating on my kid. I'm sure she would do fine but I also feel like I want to see someone else. The problem with that is I'm sure anybody taking new patients would be booking out for months so ugh. I also don't have anyone in mind. She has a first appointment with a pulmonologist on Friday that M saw back in December who I really liked so I'm hoping he can recommend someone. Sorry for the novel, I'm just worried and feeling all confused on what to do!
What's going on with you all?

Do you have a local moms group you could ask for recommendations?

Kids and I are doing fine. I have to get a latch for the top of L’s bedroom door bc she has been climbing over the gate at night- then she wanders around the house. I sleep super lightly so I hear the bedroom doors open but gosh she needs to learn to sleep all night in her bed.
DH’s work schedule has been super long hours and he’s traveling soon. It’s been rough on me since I’m with the kids ALL THE TIME. They fight like cats and dogs- and L is aggressive so it’s stressful. She managed to hit like 3 kids while we were at PreK drop off this morning. 🤬I really hope she gets it more together in the next few months bc I don’t want her acting like this at preschool in the fall.

UGH, M is in my bed like clockwork every night after climbing out of hers, I'm over it. Sorry about YH"s work schedule. That is so hard and exhausting. My girls also fight constantly too!

Ugh jt2378 I’m sorry about the sickness and the tonsils issue. pennylane it’s so reassuring to me to hear when other kids act out bc half the time I feel so judged by other moms at play spaces when Noah goes balls to the walls. But then I get to work and my coworkers are like ......... that’s normal look at a video of my older kids wrestling in a public place on the ground. I’m like wtf. I have been pretty MIA. went to Florida for a week, a few days at my MIL then left B and N there and went up to Disney to support my friend running a half marathon. It was so fun to just hang with the girls and drink and relax. I missed N terribly and was so excited to see him when they got home (I went back early and back to work before they came home) and then the next day he was being a whiny little brat and I was so over it. Am changing up my anxiety meds bc lexapro isn’t doing enough for me. I did take a Xanax once and it was such a nice high and relaxing feeling. Can never take it when I’m alone w Noah or at work, cuz man I was so relaxed and chill and sleepy - did not move from the couch for the whole evening that night LOL. N has his 2.5yo dr appt tomorrow. We will see how tall he is. He had a growth spurt recently bc none of his pants fit him and the 4t shirts fit him perfectly. Bye bye monies on new pants. They’re all super short. The 2t are a joke and the 3t are oddly too short, too. I bought 3t instead of 4t in the fall bc I didn’t want them to be TOO saggy and bunched up at the bottom but apparently that would have been a good idea. Sleep is better. He goes down for naps alone. He goes down for bedtime alone. Motn sleep is eh. He can stick to 1-2x per night, if DH goes to calm him he goes back down alone. If it’s me, I’m stuck sleeping with him. But we changed his room! We took out the toddler bed / crib and just moved the futon and got him sheets and now he has a big boy bed. I want to buy a nugget couch for the empty space but right now we just have his crib mattress there so he can sit there when he wants.

addymac, Wow lots going on in your world! Positive stuff with N's sleeping, that is great news! I'm sorry your meds aren't working but glad to hear you are switching it up and will hopefully feel better soon. Your trip sounds like so much fun! I need a girl trip with drinks and relaxation!! Also my pedi doesn't do a 2.5 year appt, I wonder why. Its only a 3 year.

I think I m the only one whose doctor doesn't do 2.5 year check ups. Not like it matters because we are there every week for a cold or ear infection. I need this winter to end...
Work has been crazy I have had long days and shitty colleagues who are a few years out from retiring so feel like they can check out now.

We have also had to put latches on the top of many doors because J can open everything. Im sorry your H has crappy hours and will be traveling. Its hard being with the littles all the time.

addymac Js pants are all too short too. His waist is tiny so we buy 2T pants but they fall down AND are too short. Its annoying. We took 7 pairs to the local seamstress last week and get them back tomorrow I hope she fixed the waist and length and shes cheap as beans. We wear mostly 2T tops though 3T fit better. Im refusing to buy any long sleeved 3T but all hs spring shirts are 3T. Also random, you live in Chicago right? If so I have a question for you. Im glad naps are better and bed is gettingbetter too. That has to be a relief.

Ah yellowcat that sounds frustrating about work. It drives me crazy when people are checked out. We have some nurses I wish would just gtfo and retire bc they’re so checked out it’s annoying to have to work with them. pennylane do you get a break from the kids anytime soon? Will your DHs schedule calm down for a bit soon? Idk how you solo parenting constantly people do it!! @starzia sorry for the sickness. At least you are combining the appts? It’s weird bc I could have sworn my pediatrician said no more til three and then when we went to check out of his 2yo appt they’re like ok 6 months and I was very head tilty but ok. king26 I am in Chicago. What’s up?!?

It's good to read everyone's posts. I've been so caught up in life! jt2378 I was doing to suggest like pennylane to message a local moms Facebook group about the ENT. Or maybe your pediatrician would have a list of people they usually recommend. yellowcat H gets out of bed every night and wanders either into our room or where I'm nursing the baby. I've thought about latching his door but I think he'd just yell and wake everyone up. I will say though that his older brother wouldn't stay in time out, so we got one of those round things you put over the door handle and it's like magic--I can barely open it myself. I can't decide if it poses a fire hazard though since he couldn't get out of the room at night if he needed (big brother sleeps with door open so not an issue for him). Gonna try to put baby down and sleep and then I'll respond to more tomorrow. H is due to come toddling out of his room--i hope not!

Not sure if they make boy pants like this... but T is super skinny and we used to buy jeans that came with sizers on the inside. I don’t know what it’s actually called, but there is elastic with a button so you can make the waist smaller. I actually had to show her on a pair of shorts she has that since she grew from last year, we could expand them so they weren’t so tight.
@starzia T has always been friendly and I always encouraged it. She’s the opposite of me and I figured it would serve her well to be comfortable interacting with strangers. Now, I can send her to ask questions to receptionists or ask for something from the cashier at McDonalds while I stay at the table. She did run off with kids at an amusement park this summer, but it was her first time and she says she now understands what she should have done. R, on the other hand, is much more of a clinger and people are always trying to talk to her about her red hair.

addymac this is random. My parents are going on a trip, going on the train from Pittsburgh to Seattle. Will be in Chicago on Easter. Any suggestions on where they could eat? They have never been there. My mom wants to know if the area near the train station is safe and which parts of town are safest. I said I would try to ask someone. Thanks!

We have them tightened so much thete are weird gaps in the waist so the seamstress was trying ti fix that for us and cut some of the elastic out so it wasnt all bunched up too.

And my parents jus cancelled their big trip since the CDC is saying no cruise ships. They lost a few hundred dollars but will go in October now instead of April.

Hey ladies! I’ve also been MIA, I usually can only check in a few mins a day. We’re moving in less than 2 weeks, about 1.5 hours away from our current city. So it’s been all consuming trying to find a rental. Also, I was solo for 3 weeks and A became so clingy. I think from MH being gone. It probably won’t get much better with the move happening and all the changes. We did have a 2.5 wellcheck, every seems to be ok and on track. GL with the move! Omg to 3 weeks solo, I know you do it regularly but man single parents deserve metals!

Schools are closed here too. Daycare is opened so far because it's an in home daycare. I hope it stays open. People are going crazy and buying all the toilet paper. It's pretty crazy. I ordered some extra baby food and things like pretzels in my grocery order to pick up. I refuse to go shopping in the madness!

Schools here are closing on Monday. I haven’t heard from DS’ PreK but I’m sure they won’t be open. DH is supposed to leave for work travel tomorrow- I’ve been waiting and waiting for it to get canceled but so far it’s still a go. So he’ll be gone the next two weeks while I’m stuck with the kids. Hooray.
I was going to get groceries today but I saw on fb last night that after the school closure was announced- the stores got completely wiped out. So now I guess that will wait. This whole situation is crazy.
