wasabi I got a massage last night and during it I couldn't help but think that I hope you were going to milk the lower back pain for all its worth with your SO, lol. (You are the one with the massage therapist SO right?) Haha yep! He’s offered a lot and I haven’t really taken him up on a full massage yet this pregnancy. I should probably change that. My back hasn’t hurt too much but I feel like it’s coming. Definitely take advantage! I booked myself a 90 minute massage yesterday thinking I would love it and quickly was reminded that I can’t relax my body that long without peeing lolz

Weeks/Due Date - 23 weeks (tomorrow) The Good - feeling so many kicks and so much movement now, I love it! Morning sickness is pretty well gone and I have my energy back, I want to do all the things except... The Bad - ...I have the worst groin and pelvic pain. I literally walked 6 blocks to get my lunch a few days ago and afterwards I could barely walk, so much pain! It felt better when I laid down for a bit with pillows tucked everywhere but now its just a constant lingering pain I also feel I have gotten huge way faster than last time, and my ribs already are starting to hurt. I promise I am not a huge complainer and won't just complain the whole rest of the pregnancy to you guys but this is making me nervous, everything seems to be happening way faster, I still have 18 weeks to go and I'd like to not be uncomfortable for the whole time! Milestones/Appointments - Monthly appointment with my OB on Monday - I love hearing the heartbeat. Also want to see what she thinks about the pelvic pain, I never had this with my son. To Do List - I need to find some comfier maternity jeans haha mine are too restrictive! Read more: howeverithappened.proboards.com/thread/29950/check-week-jan-27#ixzz6CfbsOTJK

aries have you tried an SI belt? Having loose SI or pelvic joints is common due to the relaxin. Most people find relief with a belt. I would also suggest a PT (though admittedly, I’m biased as that’s what I do). Hope your OB has some input!

I highly recommend talking to your OB about a referral to PT and to go to the chiro

hangry and trtlcrzy thanks for the info! Everything from my googling (ha!) recommended physio for sure, we have a really good pelvic floor physiotherapist in my city so I’m thinking I might just try to get in with her regardless of anything additional my ob recommends. A lady at work said her maternity belt was so helpful too (is that the same as the SI belt?)

The maternity version has a little more to it usually (like contouring and possibly an additional strap). I have one but my friend borrowed it and hasn’t gotten it back to me yet.

I bought a pregnancy belt and I use it when I get home from work until I go to bed. My doctor encouraged me not to use it all day and only for 3-4 hours max per day. She said it’s because if you use it all day at work, etc, it actually can hinder your abdominal/pelvic recovery after birth because your abdominal muscles weaken when you use the belt too much. Just an FYI.

willow that makes sense, thanks for the info as I definitely don’t want that! My coworker was also saying it’s not comfortable when sitting at work either so she said she mainly used it for around the house, cleaning, physical work. I just want to be able to walk pain free! I also was watching this yoga video where the instructor said she used specific moves to help strengthen surrounding muscles and her pain did go away so I’m hopeful I can do something to help it. First step though is ob tomorrow and physio.

I *think* the difference between a pregnancy and an SI or pelvic belt is that the pregnancy belts try to lift the weight of the belly in addition to compressing the hips. The Si just compresses the joints. I’ve been fortunate to not have that problem so I’ve never used them. I’ve just heard from others how crucial they were. Hope it gets better for you!

Weeks/Due Date - 21+1/June 13
The Good - a/s went really well. He (!!) looked perfect and the sonographer said he behaved really well for her, lol. Not really having any bad symptoms. Feeling him move a lot more.
The Bad - We did find out at my scan that I have partial placenta previa. The doctor seemed pretty confident that it would work itself out as my uterus grows and didn’t tell me do rest or stop having sex or anything so I’m hoping it’ll be ok. I know I’ve read how much people love c sections, but I just don’t wanna. The only good thing is that I’ll have another u/s around 32 weeks to check on it.
Milestones/Appointments - More than halfway done! Woot. Next appt is end of feb.
To Do List - get organized, ugh.

Pt will probably start out slow, at least that’s what mine is doing.

wasabi Anecdote, but I had partial placenta previa with my first and it did in fact work itself out as the uterus grew. Good luck to your Ute!

You guys, this RLP is crazy. It hurts every time I cough, sneeze, poop, stand up too quick. Ugh, I don't remember this when I was pregnant with DS. I hope it doesn't get worse as time goes on!
