Im starting anew one so I check in. J had his IFSP meeting today and will finally start speech. He is doing better butnot great. They saidhe counted to 9 for them and he will say the ABCs at home ( most of them) and can identify like 20 letters so they said cognitivly he is doing great so they have to work on communication because its obviously in there
He has beena bear the last 3 days. Crying for no reason, whining, throwing fits, hitting a ton. Its exhausting.
We are starting anew school in February. This is a preschool not a daycare. However in the 2 year old class they mostly work on social skills and playing together. Its structired which is good for J and the adults work with them the whole 3 hours unlike now where half the time they arent even paying attention and its half the price for the same days. We will see how it goes.

I have now gotten R in the routine of peeing on the potty before baths. I’m also working on before bed and in the morning. This morning she woke up dry and was agreeable to going on the potty. She often says no to going on the potty - “I don’t like it.” But, she loves her routines, so I just have to work it in there. Unfortunately, she refuses at daycare and they can’t force her so I’m not sure how it’ll become a routine.

I’m going to attempt potty training this weekend- not so sure how it’s going to go! L keeps telling me and then hiding when she’s going, so maybe I can get her to just go hide in the bathroom like a normal person. She does love the underwear I bought, she’s been wearing them over her pants. Haha.

bsouls we get J to sit on the potty before baths but he only peed once. I need this kid out of diapers. J is getting much better with words but the tantrums are intense. If he senses for a second we dont understand him, straight to fit. We were in Boston last week for a conference and stopped at my in laws. My MIL came and watched the kids. She was helpful but they have been hard to manage. There was no daycare from before Christmas until tuesday. It was rough... And my baby turned 1!

yellowcat holy crap, LO is one?!??! pennylane good luck with potty training!! king26 how are his tantrums? N has days like that. So frustrating and draining. Sunday was day 3 in a row of being just me and him and I was OVER IT. and he was a bear and I cried at some point. Idk how you SAHM or part time working moms do it because I think two days off alone with N is my max. I seriously considered a Xanax that day but I don’t know how it will affect me so I was scared to take it and be alone with him. I stayed up late (1 am!!) last night reading a book. I was so tired today I fell asleep twice while N played with my phone and watched videos. I only feel a little bad about it. But he said he had a fun day so 🤷🏻♀️ N is half potty trained. I need to put more of an effort in on my days off bc he does well with our nanny with no diapers but I am lazy and not ready for no diapers. I really should push it bc that would save $$$ Question: if you guys are solo parenting with the kid(s) how do you feel about drinking alcohol? Any? A little? Whatever/you can hold your alcohol well so 3/+ drinks don’t phase you? I’m just curious. I had a small glass of wine tonight alone w N and I wanted another but got nervous. Just Curious what others do.

Im off all summer with J so 10 weeks and this summer i had to take some me time or i would have gone nuts. I know sometimes dh runs to the post office and a store after i get home from work because he just needs some alone time after being with J all dayand i get that.

My cousin used to do months at a time alone and always had wine. Just limit it and you are fine.

addymac Have a drink or two in the evening (or whenever) if you want! It’s fine in moderation. My neighbors sometimes see me outside before dinner with the kids and bring me out a drink- they are the best! As a SAHM some days are great and others are not so great- I just do what I can to get to the next one.

pennylane your neighbors sound awesome. addymac I don't drink much, but if I did I'd just make sure I could drive, like others have said. We've tried the potty before bath time also with resounding failure. He hops right off it and then pees in the bath tub as soon as he climbs in. This kid.

Gets off potty, into tub, and pees.

Ugh! Toddler H is the kid who pukes whenever he coughs. This is the third time this week he's started coughing bc of congestion and then puked. Makes me jumpy. Can winter be over yet?

Stomach bug hit me - I spent 7pm Friday to 7am Saturday puking and shitting. I finally felt well enough to come downstairs at about 4:30pm. Now, that’s it’s been a week or more for most of the household, I hope they don’t get it again.
Good news, both girls finally have their appetites back. R had been refusing lunch all week at daycare and wasn’t eating much at home, but yesterday she was finally back to snacking. So far this morning she ate two Belvita sandwich crackers, Little Bites and a grain bar in under an hour for breakfast.

Oh, and I don’t really drink much and I don’t like beer/wine. But, I don’t see anything wrong with people having a couple to get a little buzz on. Kids are tough and as long as you can still respond if needed.

Potty training is exhausting. What was I thinking?! Diapers are so much easier. R has been refusing to sit on the potty, so I think I’m going to back off. Maybe when we have warmer weather I’ll just put underwear on her and see where we go. Maybe Memorial Day weekend, unless she shows interest before then.

I’m so sorry, we are in this hell as well but it started with me 😭😭 I’m just having coffee today for the first time since last Tuesday. M is like the opposite of R and wanting to guzzle water and eat and I’m like whoa take it slow girl. MH is the only one who hasn’t gotten it yet but I’m sure it’s coming. This is our first bout ever with stomach shit and I hope it’s gone for a long time 🤢 D1 literally threw up like 30 times in like a 8 hour period, poor thing. It was the first time she ever did so what a way to introduce that. Thankfully M’s was shorter lived and I hope we are on the other side too. Glad to hear your girls are doing better and hope you continue to feel better 🤞

Oh gosh bsouls jt2378 I’m sorry. Last night before I left work at midnight I ate a cupcake. I started to feel weird on the ride home. I spent the next few hours in the bathroom dying. Ugh. Awful. And it was only for a few hours. I can’t imagine 12+ hrs bsouls. Then Noah woke up. Finally got to stay in bed and him to sleep and then he was up at 4:30 and I kicked him and Ben out to the living room. They came back like half hour later and then he was up for the day at 7. Omfg kid. And I’m at work til midnight again today. I just want freaking sleep!!

Hope everyone with the stomach bug is better. That is the absolute worst and I get real anxiety about it this time if year if one of the kids starts coughing weird or says his belly hurts. I tend to avoid indoor play places in the winter due to all the germs.

@starzia Im glad she is getting EI. J started his services in speech this week and Im so glad. It was also nice to have validated that he is smart even though he doesnt talk much. They said he can point to all letters, numbers, and colors, he just cant say them all and he still only has about 50 words.
Im sorry she puked in the car. Thats the worst. J did that in december. I stripped him, dumped the car seat, stuck a blanket in,and put him back in it. Thankfully we were maybe 10 minutes feom himebut carseat puke is the worst.

As I said J started speechthis week. He seems to like the speech teacher and actually hugged her goodbye which he doesnt do with people he doesnt know.
So about daycare. His last day is supposed to be next Thursday but he is done. On Wednesday DH and I went to pick him up and his face was swollen. They said he fell 5 minutes after I dropped him off and had blood all over his shirt so they had to change him. They didnt think to walk across the freaking hall and tell me or get me. Dh and I wers pissed. Then it gets worse. They are like he trips over that rug all the time. Uh, if he trips over it all the time fix it. Dh went over and looked and the edges of the rug are all balled up, flipped over, and a total hazard in like 5 different places. They assured me he just bit his lipand was fine. We came home and his upper lip is dark purple on one side and he wont eaton that side. He has a bruise on his chis and a scratch across his face. Im so pissed they didnt get me and made it out like it was no big deal. The owner called me and I told her I wanted the rugs fixed and an accident report because I didnt get one. She assured me the rugs would be taped down or replaced because the principal already called her about it ( because my husband apparently called her). By this point dh is livid and calls the owner back to say that was his last day and we want the prepaid days refunded. They agreed right away. They suck which is a shame since its in my building but they are always on their phones in theback of the room and never play with the kids. Dh starts his 2 year old preschool next week. Its only 3 hours 2 times a week but its half the price and has been open for 41 years.

Oh @starzia. Honestly your description of M is eerily close to how I view Noah. Minus the talking early on, but otherwise- the energy, the knowledge, the attention span issues. All his therapists and evaluators say he’s incredibly smart- at first he just needed to learn the words to get them out, now it’s articulation, but the attention span. And worryingly enough, his attitude towards smaller kids- you see it with C, but I see him doing similar things with small kids at the play spaces - sometimes he tries to step on crawlers’ fingers. Or he does a shoulder check into a wobbler so they go flying since they’re so unsteady on their feet. Or even similar aged kids, he just pushes them out of the way just because he can or because they’re in his way or whatever reason he has. And half the time he just rolls his eyes at me when I discipline scold him. He does show remorse and worries if a kid cries or if I put him in time out (every time) so I don’t THINK he’s a psychopath but god some days I am at my wits end with him. And other days I am just exhausted by his never ending energy. And yet I am amazed at his knowledge and intelligence for a 2.5yo. And king26 I’m so glad you guys are OUT OF THAT PLACE. holy fuck, I would be raging if that happened to N. I’m SO sorry. Poor J. I can’t even imagine the words I would have said to them. I’m so glad you guys moved him. That place sounds awful. I would write them up and report them as much as I could. Today was a day. N had an awful awful night Motn but bedtime is going better. Last night he came out of his room three times when going to sleep but tonight only once. So he slept in a bit this morning and then complained on and off about his stomach hurting. ate breakfast fine though. We went to Costco and after he ate an applesauce pouch and a veggie pouch that was purple, he just started throwing up in the detergent aisle. It was AWFUL. I just stood there in shock with the first upchuck and then it just kept coming out. And then I was like well it’s already all over him and the floor I’m not going to bother to try to catch it. Just patted him on the back while he finished puking. Omg. So much purple puke. Lol. I had to strip him down to his diaper right in the aisle and clean up him, me, our shoes, the shopping cart- so much puke in the cracks and ugh. I was able to flag down an employee so they had someone come with a big cleaning machine but they didn’t even offer to help me or anything with the cart. I went through all our diaper wipes and then I realized I was buying disinfectant wipes anyway so I opened those and finished cleaning off the cart. Poor guy was crying but then super excited to see the cleaning machine. And he had explosive diapers all day where he leaked through every single pair of pants. I wiped down the entire house basically today. I did notice that not a single person - employee or shopper offered me any help at all. I thought that was kind of shitty. Correction- one guy did ask me if we were ok but at that point I had it under control more or less and he had nothing to help with- no bag with wipes or anything, but Noah was just in his diaper and his son was like “dad! Why is he naked in the middle of the store??” LOL. I hope he doesn’t puke overnight. Ugh. Puking is the worst.

Ugh addymac that sounds horrible. I wouldnt even know what to do if J puked in a store. My wipes are always in the car. The only place he ever puked whenwewere out was daycare and it was mostly on he and I so DH just came and got him and brought me clothes to change in to.

addymac oh I am so sorry about your public puking adventure! Hope he’s feeling better soon. I had a similar experience with DS a year or two ago where he puked alll over at Chik-fil-a. They were nicer about it though. L picked up a virus this week so I abandoned potty training. She’s been pitiful and clingy. Her cough sounds terrible today. DS says he doesn’t feel good this morning too- so we are all probably about to have it. Damn winter sick bugs. 😷🤒
