Charlie not walking is making me twitchy. He is 13 months and a few days. He has been cruising forever it seems like-a good 2 months? He can stand without holding anything. Last week he stood for a good 20 seconds, kind of shuffled his feet, but took no steps forward, so the balance is there. Problem is he is very successful at scaling his way around a room and he is a crazy quick crawler. We try to get him to come to us, and he just drops down and crawls. And he's not cautious at all, so I don't get it. DD was walking at 11.5 months. I'm trying hard not to compare them but I failing. Pedi said almost everyone is walking by 15 months and to worry if not by 18 months. DD sounds the same. She’s not really that cautious as she will climb anything and everything and she’s also a crazy fast crawler. She’ll stand unsupported but then just sit down when she wants to get somewhere. She’ll be 15 months in a few days but only 13.5 months adjusted.

What is everyone’s LOs status on walking? DD is cruising everywhere, climbing on everything, and bear crawls when she’s outside because it’s easier on her knees. But she won’t take any unassisted steps. She can stand unsupported and has stood up on her own but she doesn’t like it. he walks everywhere and climbs on everything. he started just after a year. i would not be worried- i think up to 15-16 months is perfectly normal and your LO is cruising already anyway. does she have a more cautious personality? She is cautious in some things but not others. She climbs everything but seems terrified of walking. I think as long as she’s holding something or close to the ground, she feels safer.

FB keeps showing me pictures I posted a year ago of weeks old DS. 😭 I miss how little he was. I really hope my bestie gets pregnant soon because I want little baby snuggles.

In the early days walking, my nephew would only walk if he was holding something in his hands (like a toy or small trinket). It's like he'd overthink it if all he had to focus on was walking.

H is doing really well on walking and climbing. She even has a little speed walk if she she's something the she really wants. (You should of seen her practically running when I opened one of the bathroom cabinets. We keep the soap in there and girl loves to try to eat boxes. 🙄😂)
But she doesn't seem to be as great on speech. I've been trying to work with her on some signs and not alot of luck either.
So I think some babies focus more on their gross motor development VS the cognitive.

My kiddo is just starting to cruise at 12.5 months, but is saying all sorts of words and signs, so I think he's focused on communication, not on gross motor. If he wasn't ahead on one skill, I'd worry more about the other one. For reference, DD walked at 12.5 months, and didn't sign any words back to us until her birthday. This guy has been waving bye/signing for more/doing tricks like raising his hands up when we say "so big" since 8-ish months, and didn't start army crawling until 10ish months, then regular crawl around 11.5 months.

L takes several unassisted steps but then he will drop down and crawl if he’s after something specific. He can cruise on furniture very well and enjoys pulling up on everything. He tries to climb on the couch, but isn’t quite tall enough.
His main challenge right now is getting used to walking with shoes on. We just started sending him to daycare with shoes on this week, so that’s been an adjustment for him.

DS was very physical, climbing everything. And DD is very vocal instead. Though, all she says is "mama" 🙄

DD is not very vocal either, just how DS was. They both worked on their gross motor skills first.

Dd just starting walking today without holding on. She turns 13 months next week. Dd1 was 13.5 weeks before she started walking. It sounds like all the lo’s in here are making appropriate progress!

Ugh... We just had a chance to get DD1s backpack today and there wasn't much of a selection left at target.

Anybody deal with a sudden nursing strike/weaning?
DD has been nursing 4x per day for some time now. This morning she nursed on one side and then she refused the second side.
Before her morning nap I offered her the side she refused and she nursed but very slowly. I offered her the other side and she sort of giggled and then refused it.
Before her afternoon nap I offered and she completely refused. I tried a few times but didn't want to push it.
Tonight before bed I offered and she refused again. I ended up taking her to our room since she loves side lying nursing in the morning but she refused that too. All she wanted was her binky😭😭😭 So I didn't want to push it either and I just rocked her for a bit and then she went right to bed. I of course had to pump tonight🤦♀️
I'm wondering if it could be teething. She's not showing any other signs of discomfort so I'm just guessing. She's not sick. She did have the rest of her one year shots on Thursday so I wonder if it could be that. Or maybe my weekend away with DH last week had something to do with it. Ugh, I'm ok if she's ready to wean but just not so sudden. Our bf journey in the beginning was so rocky and I'm so great full that we made it this long but now I'm having all the feels about it.

Also, any lo's ready to transition to one nap? I think she may be but I can't remember when DS did.

It was very frustrating but she eventually started again. Daycare has been trying to transition her to one nap but so far she still needs two. I’m not sure if she will move up to the next room if she still takes two.

Also, any lo's ready to transition to one nap? I think she may be but I can't remember when DS did. We’ve mostly transitioned to one nap. If she gets cranky early, she’ll take two naps or a mini nap late afternoon but most days it’s just one nap. She hasn’t refused nursing for awhile but we do have some days where she nurses way less and then makes up for it a day or two later. However, we are down to about 3x a day, mostly when she’s sleepy.

I've still been trying for 2 on the weekends though. I'm not sure how to time one nap. They do 12-2:30 at school, right after lunch.

Sometimes H will only nurse from one side. Last week, we did 3x a day. Early morning, before her afternoon nap ( when I got home from work) and before bed. I am not pumping at work.
She still takes 2 naps a day. One around 10:30 and then around 4. It's usually about an hour or so. This works for us because then she will stay up until 8:30 ish

I think if I can try to do lunch around 11:30 and then push her nap till 12ish then we can probably go down to one nap. Her bedtime was also 8:30 so I think I will have to move it up.

cornflakegirl, we've had some weird feedings here and there due to teeth, and usually it's better by the next day. Nap wise, we're working on dropping the first nap. The problem in my house is that then he wants to go down at like, 11, which is pretty early for my big kid, and our nap timing gets very awkward. The best situation is if I can get him to nap in the ergo for a half hour or so (around 10) when we're out and about, and then go down around 12:30-1 (both kids). I think at daycare he does one nap unless he seems really tired in the morning.
