Things over here in Lemondrop land have been ok. We’ll be 3 weeks old tomorrow. M has some severe gas issues so we are trying to figure out how to help him. Bicycle legs and massages and gas drops aren’t working, and we’ve tried basically every bottle/nipple combo known to man. We just started him on some probiotics and I’m giving up dairy. I hope dairy isn’t the issue tho bc I have 100oz of breast milk saved in my freezer that would have to go 😭
Beyond that, my csection incision is almost healed (the very center is slightly infected) but my anxiety has lessened. Poor H I think has some baby blues and he’s seeing his Dr for some possible PTSD symptoms from my labor/ delivery. It probably doesn’t help that we are both up every 2 hours and M screams after every feeding bc his belly hurts. But we’re managing. I miss everyone here!

Ugh lemondrop the gas was awful here this time around too, and he seems to have started out growing it in the last few weeks (around 8 weeks). He would spit up so much too and that started going away around the same time. I hope it isn't a dairy intolerance for you, I have a friend who has to do that and it's crazy how dairy is in EVERYTHING.

lemondrop I gave up dairy and it has helped with gas over here. It does usually take about a week to see results though. Even if it is dairy, I wouldn’t throw out frozen milk. With my oldest daughter, I was able to incorporate dairy back in after a few weeks. So N had a huge poopsplosion on Wednesday morning...and hasn’t pooped since. I feel like I’m holding a ticking bomb about to explode on me at any time. I should probably pack an extra shirt for myself in the diaper bag today...

good luck jacks hope its managable and not an explosion! We are headed to a family wedding this weekend. So it will be the baby's first 4 hr car trip. It should be interesting. Hopefully everything goes as well as it can. I am prepared for a decent amount of crying. We have went on first trips to visit my extended family at about 1 month old for each kid. It usually is a bit of shitshow especially the last hour or so. She is 1 month today and has her pedi appt monday so I should have an updated weight. My maternity leave is about half over boo. ..not sure how i will get the necessities done when i am working full time. The laundry, cleaning and dishes are a lot and I am not working 40 hours a week or using 8 bottles a day for pumping/feeding. I need a maid or more hours in the day.

When did the lochia stop for y’all? I am ooooover wearing pads. Mine lasted way longer this time. Closer to 4 weeks and then tapered off. It's come back twice where I thought I started my period but it was a 36 hour period of some spotting /barely enough to put on a pad including once after we had sex at around 7 weeks. I'm BF so I'm not sure if that plays a role. Last time my period held off until 4 months. I think it's normal up to 6 weeks.

When did the lochia stop for y’all? I am ooooover wearing pads. Same, I am so over pads. And I ran out of regular pads and having been using up a supply of larger ones and it’s pretty much the worst. I need to make a Target run today and get normal sized ones again!

This is long but I'm using this post to think through rescheduling a Disney cruise that I booked before I even got my BFP. I am going crazy with options.
It was a 5 day going from San Juan to Miami in Nov and we just can't afford 2 extra people because we'd have to switch staterooms (and I don't want to take 2 babies). I'm trying to decide between the following ages/times... so hard to decide! We'd probably at least do 2-3 days at the parks. We'd switch to a 3 night going out of port Canaveral, and stay on the ship in Nassau to enjoy the amenities. Other port is Disney's private island. With travel, probably a week long trip.
Option 1: April/May 2020. Bonus that DD won't be in "real" school yet and the cost is like half so we can go any week, not just during spring break. Bonus twins are over a year, maybe walking, no more pumping/breastmilk. Best weather. Still need to tote diapers and possibly pack and plays.
Option 2: Fall 2020. Would need to pull DD from kindergarten in order to get a good price. Is it ok to pull kindergartners for vacation? Boys would be about 18 months. Could they sleep on a pullout couch? Possible weather problems/hurricanes.
Option 3: Jan/Feb 2021 when they are almost 2. These fares aren't out yet but I think they are the least $$$. Escape Chicago winter but possible travel problems. Weather might be poor/sometimes waves are rough in winter. Boys would still fly free under age 2 I think. Same pulling DD from school problem. Twins are free at Disney under age 3 but they can't go to kids club on the ship. We would need to pay for nursery if we wanted some adult time.
Option 4: Spring 2022 when they are 3 and DD is 7. Free kids club for all but need to pay to enter Disney parks. And pay for flights. Possibly they'd be out of diapers and they could enjoy the ship's pools. Wouldn't need to lug alternate bedding. Alternatively could go Jan/Feb 2022 but then we'd need nursery care on the ship.
Ok so that was really teal deer, sorry to write a narrative here. I'm leaning towards Option 3 and making it a shorter trip to see how they do at ages ~2 and 6. If it's not a disaster we can plan a return trip at like ages 4/5 and 8/9.

I would pass on options 2 and 3, because weather. I lived in Florida for a bit - even if you don't get hit by a hurricane, you could deal with crazy storms and the thought of being on a ship during one of them gives me hives. I also used to live in Boston and almost missed my grandmother's funeral there because I was stuck in Miami due to snow. Winter 2015 was tough for us, lol. Thinking about it, I'd probably also pass on option 4 because the cost of getting into the parks plus flights would be $$$$. So. Option 1!

Eames I would pick option 1 or 4, although they would be totally different trips. At 1 yr old, kids are still slow moving and easier to keep up with. No kids club, but still able to pay for nursery to get a break. At 3, they are a bit more responsible and you can reason with them, etc. plus kids club (byeeeeee kids). Between ages 1-3, I think they’d just be a lot of work on a boat.

ETA we went to Denver on vacation with DD at 12 months, Ireland at age 2.5, and Pennsylvania (Hershey Park, Philly, etc.) at age 3.5. They were all different for sure! None exactly easy, but we had a good time. Probably the age 12 months was the easiest, honestly. Then age 3.5, then age 2.5.

H is going to play poker and watch sports. I’m anxious about it as he usually isn’t gone at night and I’m so tired and this is kinda a hit or miss sleep time for C. H usually takes him now until his first wake up so this is when I get most of my sleep. C grunts so much that it’s hard for me to sleep when he is in the room. I really wanted to ask him to stay but I didn’t.

My baby is fighting sleep the past few days. I need some sleep and a shower and to pee. Someone come sprinkle sleep fairy dust on her please! It has been taking me forever to get her down to sleep. Wah!

I surivived our family visits! My in laws were very helpful and got our gardens ready and all the outdoor spring clean up done that we have been too busy to get too. My mil wasn't passive aggressive at all. It was a nice change!

I go back to work on Tuesday. Can't believe how fast this maternity leave has gone! (Not sure if it's because I had two times the amount of babies this time, or if it's because I know it's my last maternity leave ever.) The boys are 8 weeks as of today!
