When I was little I thought that if you had a single digit address you were rich.
In highschool it was coach purses and your own phone line. I was so mad at my mom for not getting me my own phone line. It was only the 2 of us in the house...

Name brand soda. I drank a lot of Dr. Thunder. I convinced myself that Shasta was the coolest because you could create your own 24 pack of individual cans from our grocery store. Suck on that variety, kids with name brand Mountain Dew and Dr. Pepper!

My wealthiest friend had a secret room. It was behind his cabinets in his bathroom. Inside was a little couch and tv with all his gaming consoles. He also had an elevator in his house. Wow!

In high school it got crazier, like the girl who had a car for each season and whose parents bought her a house for college when she lived in the dorms. The house was just for parties? Guests? IDK.

Owning a horse at the stable, 3+ cars, live-in housekeeper - which were all accurate so not as funny.
For some reason young Bazi thought people with vanity license plates were very wealthy. Probably because one of the very wealthy families had them, so I extrapolated.

I think where I grew up also has skewed my view of this but I am loving these responses. Mine are more like... parent/grandparent on the Forbes list. Which is the literal pinnacle of wealth so.. that’s boring to discuss. I did see a meme like the one Bruce posted in the OP that just said the pinnacle of wealth was “kids who got picked up right after school ended” I envied those kids that got picked up after school.

For me, it was the families who had live-in housekeepers. Fancy AF. Also, the kids who went on tropical vacations every winter break and came back tan.

Oh, I forgot a funny one. A cupboard that had real cups and glasses instead of a variety of Dannon yogurt containers to be used for cups. We also had these plastic Kool-Aid style cups with little handles. I think my mom got them for free by sending in labels.

I dated a guy and whenever we visited his Grandma (at least twice a week), she would give him $100 to take me out. Sometimes we had a nice dinner, sometimes we had Subway and good weed.
Ah, the good life.

Having enough phones that I don’t worry about locking them. Too soon? Rude.

This! My friend had one, I was so jealous . My friend had a pool and kept horses. The only person that topped her #richbitch status in my 11yo mind was the friend who’s dad had a collection of vintage rolls Royce’s and Bentley’s and got picked up by the gardener This is wealthy AF by my standards today. I have an old dog and a VW golf, that leaks oil lol.

I probably grew up with a slightly off view of wealth, since my parents had money. Not like, millionaires, but they were quite comfortable. I had a friend with two horses, and to little lucille, that was the height of wealth. Same here. Being an (not wealthy) adult has made me reflect a lot on what I thought were just normal things to have growing up. Edit: my parents were not “buy your 16 year old a brand new car” rich. But they always provided pretty much whatever we wanted, without going to the extremes. So much this. I was not prepared for life and finances after moving out. It was such a wake up call and really drove home what I took for granted.

For me it was definitely vacations. We didn't vacation. Oh yes I forgot about that. We took 1 the entire time I was growing up. It was a 4 hour trip to the beach and we only spent 1 night.

I did see a meme like the one Bruce posted in the OP that just said the pinnacle of wealth was “kids who got picked up right after school ended” I totally relate to this. I went to elementary school with Sandra Day O’Connors grandkids and went to golf camp with Bo Jackson’s kids. That was definitely my definition of wealth. However, I was always pretty impressed by my friends who had their own bathrooms attached to their rooms.

My friend had a new mustang in high school and it was definitely the nicest car in the parking lot. Definitely a low cost of living area. Yeah I didn’t know anyone with an ice dispenser lol.

Actual Tupperware instead of an amalgamation of old cottage cheese and sour cream containers to hold leftovers?

I also had a lot of these things growing up- two story house, boat, annual vacations on airplanes, name brand everything. But my parents never gave us spending money, so when I was like 16 and I'd go to the mall it would be with the $25 I earned waiting tables. My friend's dad would always hand her a $100 bill for the mall and I thought that was WOW.

Kids used to say I was rich when I was a kid because I didn’t live in a rowhouse and I had an Inground pool. Granted, we didn’t open the pool for like 7 years of my life because my mom couldn’t afford it. But, that doesn’t matter in Philly. Still rich in Philly kid’s’ mind.
