I’m glad they’re doing well! We should be going home tomorrow! Try to get some sleep if you can! I went in the night before my I suction and didnt give birth til 11:44 the next night. I would love to sleep, but I’m contracting every few minutes, and I’m worried that sleep may slow things down. I don’t know if that’s a real thing or not though.

I went to sleep, and the contractions basically stopped. OB just checked me again, and I’m 4.5cm dilated, slightly more effaced, and baby is still at a -1 station. OB just broke my water in the hopes that things will pick up again.

I’ve had a few contractions, but not many. OB wants to start pitocin to get things going, so that’s coming in a few minutes.

Good luck orangehibiscus! Sounds like your body is ready so I hope a little pitocin helps kick things off and gets you the rest of the way!

I saw your other post, but what kind of smoothie did your friend tell you to do? It’s 1oz caster oil, 4 tbsp almond butter, 1 can of apricot nectar, and 1 cup champagne. Blend and drink within 30 min. It tastes like a sweet liquid bread dough. My friend said you can repeat after 4-5 hours if needed.

Thanks y’all! I had a cry fest over needing Pit because I had hoped to labor on my own without it, but I’m better now. I am having more contractions, so it seems to be doing what we want.

orangehibiscus I’m glad labor is progressing even if it’s not all going the ways you had hoped. It’s hard when it doesn’t go according to plan.

Does anyone know how to improve on baby's sleep? I'm dying. This was my entire sleep last night. 😭

Yogurt, 😯 I wish I knew. My babies are hating sleep right now too. We got a good stretch 6:30 to 10:30 pm but of course we were doing dinner, kitchen cleanup, lunches, big kid bath/bedtime, etc. until 9:30 so we only benefitted an hour of that. Then one or both were fussy/grunting from pretty much then on, I'm sure we got a few 1 to 1.5 hour stretches maybe? I looked up the wonder weeks and the first one is 4-5 weeks old, I wonder if we're heading into that? They do seem to be starting to be way more aware of their surroundings lately.

Like how do you actually do it?

Like I can try to nurse him at set times, but if he doesn't want to eat he won't latch. I can lay him down at set times but he won't sleep unless I'm holding him pretty much. I basically have no clue.

I basically have no clue. I know that my baby is only 3 days old but she is also like this. And I find I can get her to sleep for longer stretches if I hold her because I can help her work out the gas she’s been struggling with. DD1 never was in a schedule because she hated sleep. She’s a much better sleeper now thankfully. Where is everyone having their kiddo sleep? Are you trying to put them in a bassinet or R&P? I’m holding DD for sleep currently but I know that’s not going to be long term. Anyone do what I’m doing and successfully get them sleeping somewhere else for longer?

My kid "sleeps" in a mini cosleeper next to my bed. Sleeps while held all day. His circadian rhythms are clearly not established yet as well. In reality I hold him 90% of the night and his eyes pop open the second I lay him down.
My daughter slept in the cosleeper next to my bed and she got it together eventually. But I can't recall how long it took. She was for sure bad at first too.

Haha. I have no idea either Yogurt! DD started out in the RNP remi. I had tried to put her in her cradle, but she hated it. I had to “teach” her to nap in the PNP so she would get used to not being hugged by the RNP or the bouncy seat thing that fit into the PNP (where she slept during the day). She slept in the PNP for one day, and then she slept in her cradle that night. ETA: H will occasionally nap with her on his chest in the evening, but we don’t hold her to sleep much. We rock her to sleep and then put her in the PNP or cradle, depending on day or night.

Ours currently sleep in a pack and play in our room, and nap either supervised in a twin z pillow (like a double boppy) or are held. Or nap in the stroller during a walk or in the car. I can't get these guys to nap laying flat, and they don't like the rnp or swing. Sigh.
I know DD took awhile to get it together too but I need less fussing during night hours please! If I can just have a few 2 or 3 hour stretches it feels so much more manageable.
Of course now they've been napping like 2 hours during the day. I should've napped too but I did laundry, emptied dishwasher, washed bottles and pump parts, showered, etc. All good things too I suppose.

Regarding schedule, I'm trying to coax mine towards 2.5 to 3 hour stretches between feeds during the day. I figure in an ideal world, they'd feed at 8 am after H takes DD to school, then 10:30-11, 1:30-2, 4:30ish, and then she's home at 5 or 5:30. Prep dinner which is served at 6 ish? Then another feed at 7 and put babies down while H does bath/bedtime for DD.
This is all an ideal-world and hasn't quite worked out yet, tbh.
