My BIL&SIL have a 2 month old. So I get to see a small baby that isn’t mine and it’s very nice. I am the donest done with having babies. I miss sleep so much. I’m counting down the days til DD2 is one so I can wean. Over it. Oh I am done with nursing too. Also counting the days until one for that reason. I’m a complicated mess Yup. All of this. I’d like to have ownership over my body again. Luckily I think she’s slowly weaning herself at this point. She barely nurses during the day. Like a quick nip and then she’s done. Morning, bedtime and once at night are when she’s doing full “sessions”.

Around 5-6 months I was feeling like I couldn’t wait to be done nursing, but now I am feeling super sad about it. It was such a challenging experience at first and now that we both know what we’re doing, I don’t want it to end. I love those few minutes we have together since he is on the go every other minute of the day and can’t stop to cuddle for more than 10 seconds. I’m also having a hard time accepting that it’s okay that he’s nursing less. For so long, it was always “nurse nurse nurse all the time” and “he needs to gain weight”, that it seems so weird to be fine when he nurses for only 3 minutes. He is eating a decent amount of solids though.

clementine, that activity board is amazing! I bet I could get my dad to make something similar, but I have no idea where it would fit in my house.

clementine, that activity board is amazing! I bet I could get my dad to make something similar, but I have no idea where it would fit in my house. It is really cool, we just have no room for it at our house. I mean we do have a corner I could squeeze it in if I move a shelf, but I don’t really want to move the shelf. And it’s just so huge and not the most pleasing to the eye to have front and center in your main living area. Not that all the other toys scattered around our house are pleasing to the eye either...

It has been super dead around here. Isn’t anyone else wallowing in nostalgia? The one year mark is such a emotional one for me I am definitely wallowing in nostaglia. Externally, I have not shed any tears, but internally I am a mess. I am in complete denial that DS2 is turning 1 next Tuesday. I love watching his personality develop, but I miss all the baby cuddles. I still have a hard time coping with the fact that a 3rd child is not an option unless we want to spend a ton of money on IVF or adoption. My sister is pregnant and having a baby at the end of April. I am excited to hold the baby, but I don't know how my emotions will be if she has a girl (she is team green). I know that sounds really shallow, but I still have a huge hole in my heart because I will never get to be a mother to a girl. +++sorry to be a big downer+++

Thanks for the tips Leaf 🌱 and clementine! I'll have to check out the feeding littles pages. I do try to give him small pieces of foods that I already have made, so I'm not worried about waste. He seems more willing to explore it if he sees me eating it. We'll keep trying...I'm pretty sure he won't be in high school and only eating a liquid diet! It's just hard since I never had this problem with DD. I will say though, I do have a really cute video of him "eating" a dill pickle spear. He hated the taste, but must have liked the texture because he kept taking bites and promptly spitting them out. Lol yes it's so funny when they do this. DS(who eats everything) wants my grapefruit and will keep shoving it in his mouth, make an awful face, spit out, pick up and repeat 😂

Here’s a couple pages from the book my mom made. I think I may have to split it into two books because it is so thick. Also I wish I would have listened when my mom tried to teach me to sew when I was younger.

clementine that book is also amazing. i’m laughing because i also wish i would have learned to sew with my mom when i was younger. she can make anything - quilts, clothes, curtains, etc. she was always making clothes for me when i was younger and i just wanted to buy my clothes at the store like the other kids. i am sure kicking myself now.

clementine I love the quiet book! I wish i could sew, too. I plan on taking a class one day, but it'll be too late to make something like that for my kids.

N started crawling a few days ago!!
She also had repeat allergy testing today. She's allergic to eggs, peanuts, cashews, and pistachios, the same exact things as DS ☹️

clementine, that is amazing! I wish I could sew. I have a poor neglected machine in the basement that I should acquaint myself with.

We had a med check with DD's adhd meds today. We decided to try a different medication because she's been telling us that her tummy hurts since starting this medication. This one is a liquid, so we are able to do a slightly smaller dose than the pills. I'm hoping with the smaller dose that will help a little with her appetite suppression and she can gain back some of the weight that she lost.

That book is amazing clementine! I know how to sew, but it’s been a while since I’ve had the time to make something like that. Might have to make some time because that’s awesome.

Is anyone dealing with weird anxiety? I think it may have something to do with starting the (slow) weaning process. I scheduled an appointment with a new PCP but can’t get in for two weeks. I can literally feel my heart beating at all times.

L got his finger pricked at the pedi this morning and they put a bandaid on it. We got back home and he was playing by himself for a little bit. Then I noticed the bandaid was no longer on his finger and I can’t find it anywhere. I am terrified that he ate it. 😳🤢

mintyblueair yay for crawling but i’m sorry about the allergies! is there a chance they’ll outgrow any of those? we are supposed to get more snow today and i’m hoping they don’t close school early. i have so much to get done before we leave tomorrow. h will probably just throw his stuff in a suitcase tomorrow morning and call it a day. i’ve been making a list, shopping and cleaning for the last week. i’m not really complaining but it it’s just annoying. he never understands why i get so crabby before we leave for trips. sometimes i feel like the prep isn’t worth it. i’m sure this is pretty universal though right?

Leaf 🌱 i’m pretty anxious all of the time and i am dreading the weaning hormonal roller coaster (along with what it does to my skin - i broke out so bad last time!). i’m sorry you’re dealing with it. i hope the wait isn’t too bad and you can get some answers. i really need to make the steps to get myself to the doctor

Yes, my son outgrew his egg allergy at around 2, and N can have things with egg baked in (like pancakes) so we expect she'll outgrow it eventually as well. We're moving to a bigger city and getting a referral to an allergist there who does research in food immunotherapy (basically giving tiny amounts of nuts every day to try to develop some tolerance to them). If we get in with her, I'd like to get both of my kids on a program like that.

Leaf 🌱, I get that kind of anxiety when I'm PMSing now so I'm sure it could be part of the weaning. It is so awful. I'm sorry you're going through that. It's been a crazy week. I spent Weds. night at the ER with the 3yo because apparently acute torticollis is a thing and is super painful? She was hysterically crying and screaming for me to help her for almost two hours...it was...ugh. Thankfully she seems to be better now but we have no idea what caused it so the fact that it can just happen again at any time is stressing me out. We have pictures for N's first birthday tomorrow. I am not at all prepared. I made her cake for the cake smash on Wednesday and I am not 100% in love with it. I would really love to make a new one but my H would kill me....we're having friends over tonight so would it be the worst if I made it a cake baking party?

cornpop oh my gosh, that sound terrible. I’m so sorry for your DD. Glad it’s fine now, but that is definitely scary. Did it just end up going away on its own or did they have to do something at the ER? I’ve heard of torticollis in infants but never in older kids out of nowhere. Also I would probably make another cake if you don’t love the one you made, especially if you have friends to help and make it fun!

They said there's nothing they can do besides pain management so we've just been keeping her on Motrin/Tylenol continuously. I'm now debating on stopping the meds or waiting until we see the Ped on Monday.

You could feel the ball of constricted muscle in her neck. I guess I'll see what the Ped says.

I’m taking a graduate class to try to get my teacher license renewed. Our lecture yesterday was on teaching using small, sequential steps. My professor tells us that he wants us all to teach him how to tie his shoe. Pretend that he knows right from left and that’s it. It took me and the other two guys in my class 20 minutes to get him to tie his shoe. It was worst than teaching DD how to tie her shoes. The other guys kept skipping steps and I got to fix them since I was last.
