elle Wait. YH graduated with Obama? Not with, a decade later, but they went to the same school. Their reunions are odd, basically every class is invited to the main luau, and although it's most people celebrating 5, 10, 15, and so on, people who still live there often go every year.

Hello!
I’ve been kind of MIA in here for a few weeks barring LTs and random replies. I hope to play more now that our busiest season and the holidays are over. We do not GO LIVE with our new software system until April 1 but most of the configuration and testing is done so that was also a big chunk o my time the last 4-6 weeks.
AB had his hearing appt today. I’m gonna try to LSS but I’m not good at that. He has perfect hearing (so much as they can tell at this age). Which is like, yes I figured, because he can hear a gdamn tune playing in a store while we are still out in the car. But that wasn’t the point. We really didn’t think it was going to be his hearing, it was really just the least invasive thing to check as a first thought. So then he wanted to understand what brought us here etc (it was an audiologist who performed the hearing test so not the dr). I explained that at his 2 yr appt he didn’t meet some of the milestones such as number of words, repeating, responding when you point something out, doing things to get attention or out of pride/show off, but that within 2-3 weeks later he started to. But that as if today he does still have a muffled sound to the words he says.
So th dr asked me if he has older siblings, I said just a twin. He said so we say not to, but of course we’re comparig him to her right. I said only when I’m asked about what he does or doesn’t do, because she is my only frame of reference as to what another 2 year old might be doing.
He said “well I tell my mothers that are concerned about their child’s development, call birth to 3, you have nothing to lose right?”
I’m like, he’s not getting it. I said “if his two year checkup had been even 2 weeks later I doubt we’d be here”. And he goes “maybe, maybe not”.
It was all very weird. I get the impression he’s good at what he does but he was just not hearing me (lol).
So I said “as it stands, being in your office today if you were to ask me if i had any concerns I would tell you that my question would be whether he had any sinus or adenoid issues that either cause him discomfort or affect his ability or desire to speak”.
He goes “well he has tonsils. He has adenoids. Are they gonna et bugger? Yes, every kid’s will as they grow”.
OMFG 🤦🏼♀️ Ok thank you.
So I’m gonna say AB is fine. I guess. Because if he did see something he would’ve told me?
We left it that he will relay info to ABs pedi. I’m thinking the pedi will want me to come in again and discuss what AB is or isn’t doing 🤷🏼♀️

If you’re still not digging it after a bit, try ones with more compression. I bought a pair of the Hue leggings everyone raves about and they don’t leave the house. I need a little more something to feel comfortable out and about. I bought the ponte leggings from loft. Like elle, I will only wear them with something covering by front and back side. I'm just self concious about the top of my thighs and feel like all leggings give me a camel toe. Ohhhh same. My legs are of the asshole variety where no matter how well I workout and diet, they still look like 40 pounds of chewed bubble gum. Why does cellulite have to be a thing? Seriously.

sophiegrace what's the debrief of your trip? How'd it go? What did YH think? I needed an extra day there I think. H spent so much time with the doctor and at the office that there wasn’t too much time left for getting to see everything. Or maybe I just needed to not get my darn bag lost. It was actually a bit overwhelming for me. I mentioned the super targets and Trader Joe’s, which was fantastic, but what I failed to realize in my head was how much more of everything there is in order for those places to exist in a town. So many stores, so much traffic, just a ton of everything. Very much a country mouse visiting the city situation. Not bad, just a bit a of a shock to me. The property values and high cost of living are another thing. We need to drop our expectations for a house wayyyyy down and still be willing to pay almost 50% more than what our current house is worth. We can also choose to have a longer commute. Those houses are still $$$$, but are on more property and there are some jaw dropping gorgeous ones. There’s an in town Frank Lloyd Wright inspired home that is just too perfect, but it would only work if selling our practice worked out better than we’re hoping for. H...my gosh. He’s in. Alllll the way in. Head over heels in love with the idea. Looking at houses every night, all the activities in the area, places to eat, etc. But, our practice. I honestly don’t know if it’ll ever sell. It’s too big. Other doctors can usually buy out a one or two doctor practice, but 5? It needs to be a heavy hitting investor or hospital system. We’ve heard nothing yet from the investors that we signed the NDA with. H is trying to come up with every idea in the book as to how this could work. So...we want to go, but are stuck for the time being. Womp womp.

Well that’s really fucking annoying kleigh. I’m assuming he looked in his mouth to see the size of his tonsils and they weren’t enlarged. Adenoids he’d have to do an endoscopy to see. If you’re still concerned, is there a different dr you could see?

I think we're still going to do something, but we may choose a different time of year and/place. We're long overdue for a trip. Same. MH & I haven't had a trip for just the 2 of us since our honeymoon. Sounds familiar.... Should I go say something to him and report back with his reaction to the thought of not taking M with us on vacation?

Oh my gosh kleigh that sounds like a really frustrating visit with a talking brick wall. FWIW M’s speech isn’t very clear either, the pedi told me to shrug it off for at least another year as long as the people at home (H and I, I assume?) can understand most of what she’s saying. Sometimes, it’s a really big struggle and she and I are almost in tears by the time the lightbulb goes off and I can figure out what she’s trying to get out. Supposedly it has to do with synchronizing of all the many mouth and throat muscles and some kids take awhile to develop it. There are exercises that can be done, but I never finish my work in time at night for me to put effort into looking them up. Blowing bubbles I think might be one and if I’m remembering correctly it’s also why I switched her to a regular open cup so early.

tgrimes sophiegrace Thanks gals! Yes he looked in his ears, mouth, and nose. So like you, I assumed if he saw any issues he would’ve discussed it. He was actually very nice and thorough but I think he mosatook why I was there. So excuse the way this comes out if it’s insensitie (?) but around here moms have this “elite” mentality whereby their kid has to be the absolute top of the class, best of the best, and first to do anything. I don’t know the real number but based on acces to care, moms groups I’m in on FB, and general socializing I would guess a decent 50-60% of or towns toddlers are in some type of speech or occupational therapy. Remember I shared, we don’t have daycares so much (maybe 3?) but all the options are “program based”... 2-3 hr competitive programs with year long wait lists. It’s just stupid. So, I’m thinking he may have misstook me for one of these mommies. And SG, yes!! So much yes. Even with AV, I sometimes struggle with what she’s asking for. With AB, some of us words are downright jibberish (“yucky = music”.... he can say “mommy” “Mickey” “more”... but not music) but he’s trying hard, at times I can even see his tongue thrusting to try but then he stops and goes silent. Tgrimes, I want to follow up with the pedi first. I want to go and talk to him alone or maybe just wth AB in there with me. It was so hard to do a fair evaluation at their 2yr checkup bc they were such basket cases from lack of sleep. I haven’t yet tried the Zyrtec for a few days bc I knew I had this coming up but now that we are supposedly cleared here (pending f/up w pedi) I’m going to try it and see if some of his nasalness improves. The doctor didn’t say any fluid in his ears, def molars, and stuffy nose - but nothing else mentioned.

Oh I feel you kleigh and know the moms you’re referring to. I’m not even going to attempt to do the impossible and try to get M into the “best” preschool because I despise the Moms that have their kids there. Oh, little Jenny read you “goodnight moon” at 18 months old? No she didn’t you asshole, you read it to her 50 times a day for months so that she memorized what to say for each page.

kleigh, I remember the hearing doctor for DS1 was bit weird too. Must be something with the profession. sophiegrace, my mom likes to the tell the story of a time when I was about 3 and she asked what I wanted for dinner and I said "ta-rookie-snake". She kept asking me what I was saying and I just kept shouting "ta-rookie-snake" while getting more and more upset until finally my mom was like "Oh! Teriyaki steak??" And I said "YES, ta-rookie-snake" with a duh, mom tone.
