I’ve always wondered but didn’t want to be too nosy - what do you do?! Feel free to ignore or send a pm if you’re not comfortable saying. Not at all. I am an inpatient nurse case manager for labor & delivery, post-partum and NICU- mostly computer work but I still get to use my nursing brain lol! ETA- my background is adult ICU and then I was the clinical educator for a med-surg unit before taking this role- so huge change but so worth it! That’s awesome! The job I’m interviewing for is a care management position 😊 ETA it’s utilization review, so mostly working with insurance companies. So that’s why I’m afraid it might be boring. I’d really like a care management position that still involves working with patients but we don’t have any of those available right now.

PDQ, my new nephew born around 8 pm last night! I would post it in the private board but I don’t think anyone is looking here and I will delete in a bit. Such a teensy cute squish!!

cakewench do not feel shitty at all!! I honestly think the 12 month stage is one of the hardest. I don’t remember it being so bad with DD1, but with Dd2... woof. For a solid month we dealt with sleep regression and general crankiness a lot of the time. It was rough. Now she is 14 months and things are better... until the next stage. 🙃

Congrats thatgolfb, he looks just perfect! cakewench, you're doing great. He'll get there! The move towards solids is a slow one, and never listen to laurensc927 and how much her kid eats, haha. Thanks jules1614, I'm going to look at that link. DD eats, but I feel like she doesn't eat MUCH.

But anything else? Nope. He's even fighting his puree on weekends now. (Although I think he honestly just hates the high chair. We're going to try a booster seat at the table and see if that makes it better.)

jules1614! They really don't need very much hey? I feel better now, except that I'm thinking she's on dairy overload. She has yogurt and cheese pretty much every day.

cakewench I can relate to lots of those things. Lots. Too many. A is clingy, today he screamed when H left to take DS1 to school and I was 5ft away. He is only nursing, when he does drink from a sippy, he fills his mouth and then lets it dribble down his chest. He is sleeping like crap (in our bed), won't let H put him to bed, it has to be me. I could go on, but it is stressful thinking about it all at once. H & I just keep reminding ourselves that he is perfectly healthy and his brothers eat, drink from cups, put themselves to sleep, etc. It is our mantra when things get to be too much. I would just order the carseat online and have it delivered. Get the 1 thing out of the way that is controllable. Ordering from most places, you could have it by the weekend.

My kid ate 4 chicken nuggets, a handful of green beans, and one clementine for dinner last night. Oink oink, kid. That's about average for him, too. He is small but kid eats as much as my 3 year old. I think every kid is different and that's ok. They won't willingly starve themselves. You're doing a great job cakewench. Just keep pushing forward, he'll get there. He may be ready to move away from the purees at this point. You could always try mushing up some fruit and putting it on his waffle like jelly. Just try small switches to what he already likes and you might be surprised!

Oh, and I totally nurse N to sleep every night. No shame in my game. He'll eventually put himself to sleep. No one ever went to college needing mom to help them to sleep

We would order but we want to see them in person first - H's car is too old for LATCH so we want to make sure a) the seat has a belt component and b) that it will fit in his car. (BBB lets you see if it fits before you buy. Also, I am 99% sure which seat I want for my car, but I also want confirmation it fits.)

(BBB lets you see if it fits before you buy. Also, I am 99% sure which seat I want for my car, but I also want confirmation it fits.) That makes sense. I can't think of any that won't have the seatbelt path, since once they hit the LATCH limit, they have to switch to seatbelt anyway. Fit is always the most hitnor miss part for our car too. Even with all of the most slim seats, we can only fit 2 in it.

Busy day here. Stayed at my mom's and ds1 was up at 6am. He woke up ds2 so our day began. 😴 Ds1 also refused to stay in bed last night so that was fun. Work meeting went well too.
Now to prep for ds1's birthday party on Saturday! It's a make your own pizza party so I got aprons and chef hats as favors/an activity. I'm going to write the kids' names on them and then they can decorate them with stickers and markers. Then they can wear them while they make their own mini pizza. Most of the kids are 4-6 years old. There are a few littler ones and I got a cute food themed book for them.

I had no idea that some car seats didn't have the seat belt component.

cakewench you are doing a great job. It's hard to get your kid to eat solids if they don't want them.

Yikes clucky. How old is the daughter? Why was the son taken from the school- was it just because she was expelled and both kids are going to be going to the same (different) school? Do you think the sister is actually violent? Not that that should impact your son playing with the son. So you already reached out once? Like via text and she didn't respond? If so, yes, I would probably reach out again via text. If no, then I would probably stop there.

grumpycat that party sounds awesome! Going to have to file that aprons/pizza idea away for when N is older clucky - oh man, that’s tough. Maybe reach out in the context that your son misses his friend and hopes he’s ok?

cakewench, you are not a shit mom. Trust me, he will get a hang of solids. I promise. How many 3, 4, 5 year olds not eating regular food? Just keep offering them to him. He will get the hang of it. Guess who was going to be done with bottles at a year? 🙋🏼♀️ Guess who’s kid is still getting two bottles a day 🙋🏼♀️ And if it makes you feel better, we rock E to sleep. When N was this age, I nursed him to sleep. Guess what? N sleeps through the night. We ALL have certain intentions about things that don’t happen. We are in survival mode. Sure, not as intense when they were infants, but still surviving.

So, Emmett has pneumonia and a double ear infection. And N has an infection in his left lung and a single ear infection. So glad my H took them in today. So, abx and breathing treatments for us.

He woke up after 45 minutes and has been screaming for the last 40. We just gave him Tylenol. H had to take over because I was crying just as hard.
If it’s not his teeth I don’t know what else it could be except the milk. I’ll ask at dc tomorrow if he’s been having a similar problem there.
ETA: He’s finally passing out. Jesus Christ, I expect a mouthful of pearly whites after all this tomorrow. If this is only from one tooth, the next few months are going to be fun 🤦♀️

And now I have whatever the little two had earlier in the week. Moms aren't supposed to get sick.

cakewench- breathe. You’re doing fine. N is still up 4-7x a night. He still nurses constantly overnight. My 6 year old literally eats hot dogs, bagels (but only 1 kind and it has to be from Tim Horton’s), macaroni and cheese, chicken fingers and pizza. Seriously. I wish I was kidding. It is embarrassing when we go places and he literally will not touch a single thing. Keep offering food. All kinds in all shapes. Are you just doing purées or does he get bite sized food too?
