I love fall and winter so much! It snowed yesterday and we felt so cozy inside. I'm going to bring out my fall decorations today. This Saturday I'm traveling 2 hours with DS (leaving N with my husband) for thanksgiving dinner with some extended family that we don't often see. It's a potluck and I have to bring a dessert to add to the pumpkin and apple pies my grandma is making. What's a good thanksgiving dessert that can travel 2 hours in the car (can be kept cool)? I was thinking of doing a sheet carrot cake but not decided yet. What about an apple danish bar? Hold on - I’ll see if I can find a recipe. They are a big favourite in my family www.allrecipes.com/recipe/23766/danish-pastry-apple-bars/

I also have a square recipe that's a shortbread crust, pecan pie filling, and cream cheese icing. That would be a way to get a pecan pie flavour in there without overloading on pie. We're also having a thanksgiving dinner next Monday at home with just my parents, so whatever I don't do Saturday I'll be able to do Monday! This sounds delicious!

This looks delicious. I made a butternut squash and apple soup the other day but I don’t like it. So I froze it in case the zombie apocalypse hits and then we’ll eat it because we have to. I’m going to make apple butter tomorrow. That soup sounds.... interesting. But apple butter! Yum!

mintyblueair leatherpants Mmmm! Making both those bar/square recipes for sure! Random, DH bought New Zealand apples at Wegmans last week. "Because they looked like prefect apples". I did not think they tasted good enough to be worth the extra dollars. Like we live in central New York, idk why we're importing apples.

I sent my h grocery shopping for the first time in forever and he went to target with our huge list..$200 later he came home. I about died. He didn’t even use cartwheel! I shop almost exclusively at Aldi at this point because groceries are freaking expensive. He was just like “oh, I didn’t know” me: blank stare

I love all the fall recipes in here! I need to jump start my fall cooking.
A weird virus has been going around our family for the past week. L had it first, then me, then DS and I'm sure DH is next. Its about 24-36 hours of high fever and general feeling like death--aches, pains, fatigue. And then it disappears completely. No respiratory symptoms or anything. So odd.

That looks so good! I can’t wait for the weather to be cool enough for soup and chili. Soup when it’s 80 degrees out just doesn’t sound good. My only problem is that I’m probably the only one that would eat it. DH doesn’t like broccoli and DD is such a picky eater. I could Jamie this for me and let DH fend for them though, right? 😉

Absolutely! I don’t really like cooked broccoli either but the amount of cheese covered the flavour. You could always cut the broccoli out and make it a potato soup lol.

I am so all in for fall. But we're so busy i have no idea when we'll decorate or go pumpkin picking or anything. My brother and his girlfriend are coming up this weekend, maybe we can drag them along...
I redid my cubicle at work. It makes me happy. I figure after 10 years it's time it doesn't look like a college dorm.

omg leatherpants what is that cornpop, she hasn't developed a rash yet but that's a good idea, I'll keep an eye out for it. When I took her to the hospital last week they ruled out flu and RSV which is a relief!

OMG WTF NO!!!!!! leatherpants. Those symptoms were exactly how we all felt and then the rash showed up a few days later. It was awful but in kids it's usually NBD. It's actually worse for adults and can cause some long term joint issues. Thankfully my h and I have both been okay.

It's still so hot here I cannot wait for it to cool down. I'm just a tiny bit sad this year since I can't have dairy at this time of year. I love having tomato soup and grilled cheese when it's cold out and we don't feel like cooking. And I always make pumpkin cheesecake for Thanksgiving but won't be able to have any this year.

I won a free massage and a bottle of wine from a raffle at my dentist!!! Finally something good is coming from all those appointments. Except for, you know... new teeth.

My mother in law is here while MH & FIL go pick up something from an hour and a half away. I have just discovered I have a clogged duct. I’m so fucking miserable. I just want to lay down and cry somewhere.

That's a crazy amount of snow leatherpants! I'm south of you and we had snow most of the day but it wasn't sticking to the ground. I'll be in your city this weekend and I'm hoping it doesn't snow too much on Sunday for our drive home...

You are both making me feel a little better about being north right now.
