Let's see. Ups: We had an awesome time on Saturday at a kickoff BBQ hosted by the PTA at DS's school. The vice principal was pulling taps at the beer tent, we got to chat with other parents that we are friends with and the kids had a blast playing in the schoolyard. Another up: Dh got a new job for a bunch more money and I'm thinking about trading in my forester for something with a third row
Downs: DH's new job includes out of state travel and a longer commute. I'm not thrilled (even if a third row suv will be handy). Also my new admin aide at work is HORRIBLE but my boss is too nice and probably won't fire her so I'm stuck with her. WOMP

@katietopsz congratulations on the house!! That’s so exciting. When do you close? Thank you!! I think mid October. This is all very new to me, haha. I believe we’re doing a standard 30-day escrow, and then the sellers asked for five days to move out after closing. We’ll probably just overlap with renting our old place by a few days to minimize cost. They just redid basically everything in our new place, so it needs very little work before we move in.

Like, carpets steamed and everything else scrubbed, including inside cabinets. Best money you will ever spend!

I would normally be 100% about that, but the sellers have kept the place absolutely immaculate and I think they really did reno everything (floors, kitchen cabinets/counters/sink, bathrooms, and paint) shortly before listing. Even the storage in the garage was super clean and organized. We’re building in a few days’ buffer just in case things like that come up, though.
