I spent a solid hour last night obsessing about a sandwich I want from Jimmy John's. Sadly, the closest one to us is 100+ miles away. 😭 Yesss! I want an Italian sub from Jimmy John's but I don't think I'm supposed to have that? Also really want a tuna sub from Subway...I know tuna is off limits though. Although the tuna at Subway probably barely counts. I'd still feel bad lol

My OB said canned tuna is fine in moderation when I was pregnant with DD, it’s just the raw tuna (like in sushi) that you want to avoid.

Dr. said it was fine in moderation.

I don't think I've had one since I was pregnant wth my last baby.... or maybe when he was a newborn. It's been far too long! I'm somewhat breezy about eating deli meats occasionally during pregnancy, since most of the listeria outbreaks in recent years have been in things like vegetables, hummus, and ice cream... not deli meats. 🤷♀️ With tuna, I think the issue is the potential levels of mercury in the fish, but it's ok to have in small quantities 1-2x per week. They also say if you heat up the deli meat it's fine. I fry it up sometimes to put on a sandwich if I'm worried.

+1 to occasional tuna. Non albacore has less heavy metal content I believe.
I didn't know you could heat up deli meat. I watched a coworker eat a big salad topped with salami and provolone slices every single day through two of her pregnancies. This was from a school wide buffet. I always wanted to say something who knows, maybe she was secretly microwaving it first??

My OB okayed deli meat and I did not avoid it any of my pregnancies. I feel 100% comfortable with this, but of course everyone has to make their own decision.
But yeah if you want you can go the heated route. I made quesadillas with deli turkey for lunch today. They were delicious!

This is great news. Maybe I will go get a subway tuna. I am really craving it and nothing else sounds appealing at all!

I eat deli meat too. I’m with @amc in that the listeria outbreaks are usually contaminated veggies and they don’t tell us to avoid veggies.
I didn’t even know tuna was a no 😱. I’m not a big tuna person but I had a little tuna salad last week at the ILs.

sunshiney I made pizza when pregnant with DD and covered it in calebrese salami (I feel like I am not spelling that right) and prosciutto. It was SOOOO good. I will be doing the same this time:) I feel better when I heat it up but also I don't normally eat/like lunch meats but don't mind them when baked on pizza:) And all I crave during pregnancy is meat.

Me too. I was a vegetarian for 5 years before I got KU with DS1.

I came down with the worst stomach bug last night and all through the night. I'm so annoyed. Thankfully I think I am now past the worst so can keep some fluids down but ugh! I'm trying not to overreact and call the on call to see if they want labs. I am next to positive it isn't food poisoning and I have had this type of illness during pregnancy before, I just need to stay hydrated. Just really annoyed at the mom who broke the mom code and didn't cancel our playdate Friday when she kept saying her stomach wasn't feeling good and kept disappearing to the bathroom. Grr.

I hope you’re on the mend now. That is so rude to be around other people when you know you’re sick. I’m so sorry!

Thank you ladies! Past the worst now, hoping baby is ok and none of my boys catch it. Hard not to stress even at this early stage! Enjoy your Sundays!

Had an US today. HB was 148 and baby looks good. I’m a day behind what I thought so DD is 2/19 which makes me 7 weeks today

cch Hooray for a great US! I woke up feeling much less pregnant than I did over the weekend. Cue anxiety. Then I almost threw up my protein shake and nearly started crying about a completely routine work-related annoyance. Thanks for reminding me that you're still there, hormones.

Yeah, as reassuring as all of these symptoms are, I think I'd be ok with a few less...
