No big weekend plans over here. We got a lot done around the house today. Dd and I went to a couple thrift shops. It’s amazing how one kid feels like a vacation now. I found a couple vintage cloth napkins that I’m excited about. Mh and I have an at home movie date planned for tonight and it involves ice cream so I’m pretty excited. T-minus 1.5 hours!
Tomorrow I want to go to the farmers market but have no plans beyond that.

Hooray for at home date nights and errands with only one kid Lakes! We’re home from the beach and glad to have tomorrow to catch up. Now that we’re back I feel like a billion things are flooding my brain that I need to take care of. But first, I’ll sleep in my own bed on clean sheets (hooray for a vacation week visit from our cleaners)! M is going to have serious beach withdrawal and even bigger mom withdrawal when she goes back to daycare. She was so clingy to me all week - I’m dreading dropoff already.

We are all still sick but last night finally got a good night of sleep more than 5 hours! We had swim today and H took care of E while I went to my nieces dance recital. I can’t wait until E can start dance classes.

carrots I’m glad you had a nice beach trip but there is nothing like your own bed. She looked so happy in that picture, I hope the beach withdrawal isn’t too rough for her. Dd liked the beach last weekend but had no interest in the water yet. I’m okay with that because ds is a water bug and I’m not ready for both of them to be fearless fishies. peaseblossom55 I hope you all feel better soon!

peaseblossom55 I can’t wait for M to start dance either! They have a mommy & me at the studio near us that starts at 18 months but I’m not sure if I’m up for that. Lakes DS hated the water for the first time in his life and it was kind of a bummer. He had a blast in the sand but at the end of the week he had only managed to progress to rinsing his hands off in the waves. 🤷🏻♀️ We go to the beach again in 3 weeks and my 5 & 7 yo niece and nephew will be there so I’m hoping that will help him be a little more adventurous. But I do agree that it was nice only have one of them to chase around!

We had a nice weekend. It was week 5 of 6 for A's swim lessons. We're not going to sign her up again until winter. Mostly because it's pricey and we can do all the stuff with her at home in our pool. And honestly, with the big girl taking "real" swim lessons now, that is our priority. And it's a PITA to get both of them ready before/after class.
What kinds of things are your kiddos saying these days? My favorite is the way A says "orange." It's adorable. Some other randoms we've got are, shoe (that may have been her first word after dada), monkey, "side" for outside, and ""help, please." Oh and "open it" - which sounds like "opiate." Yikes.

carrots, I found a mommy and me gymnastics class for the fall and I can't wait. I could not find any mommy and me dance class though. Bummer.

judyblume14, E repeats almost everything we say. She likes saying all done, and oh no! It's adorable. She likes saying shoes, and is beginning to make two word sentences. We have this toy where you put balls into the giraffe's mounth and she counted them one, two, three as she put all three in. H and I looked at each other.. and were like did she just count to three???

Dd’s first word after the usual mama/dada was dogdog, just like ds! She says uh oh and no with such inflection/character/sass/attitude/whatever depending on the situation that I’m in big trouble. I shouldn’t laugh at it but it’s so adorable. Plus ds was odd and never really said the word no until he was much older so it’s kind of a novelty right now. Although ds has made up his lacknof “no” with a vengeance since turning 2.5 😂
My favorite might be how she yells “pop” when the toaster is done. It’s more like “Pawp! Paaaaaawp!”

I’m stressing about M’s talking. I think it seems like DS was a lot more advanced at this stage but it’s so hard to remember since I was super pregnant at that point. She has a bunch of B words down (ball, baby, bottle, bubble) and is super consistent with hi, bye bye, night night and is starting to do some animal sounds/names. I’m trying to focus on reading with just her lately bc it seems like DS spends all day talking over her (and me). I think at her 15 month appt her ped said they expect 2-5 words and she had that so hopefully she’s on track and has a big explosion over the next couple months! Also DS is a BIG talker so comparing her to him isn’t exactly fair.

carrots I’m guilty of comparing their speech too but it’s so hard since I was stressed about ds’ for so long. I caught myself worrying about Dd the other day even though she probably has more than he did at this stage. She definitely attempts to mimic what I saw waaaay more than he ever did.

carrots, I feel like E had a huge word explosion right at the 17-18 month mark. I was worried for a bit too about her vocabulary.

I'm always stressing about Bs words. He has a few, but he's pretty inarticulate, so it's difficult to tell if he's using any with consistency.
I keep hoping for an explosion...

New trick for M - biting all of her classmates at daycare 🙈 If anyone touches a toy that she doesn’t want to share (even if it’s one she’s not actually using right then), she bites. She got 3 kids yesterday. Her teachers are committed to staying on top of her, I’ve ordered Teeth are Not for Biting, and we’re trying to teach her to say no instead. Any other ideas? She’s never bit at home (but has no problem hitting or pinching DS if he wrongs her).

Oof carrots, that’s rough. I hope it’s a very quick phase! Ds woke up at 5:45 and gave us the gift of projectile vomit. It was pretty dry so it must have happened earlier in the night. Thankfully mh was working from home this morning and dealt with it so I could sleep a bit more. He got his pjs, bedding, the bean bag next to his bed, the teepee across the room, the curtains and wall/floor. I’m really sad about the orange and white teepee. I don’t think it’s going to come out. The curtains and bean bag cover are dark gray so they should be fine. His dinner consisted of a lot of purple grapes and strawberries 😬. Anyone have magic tricks for getting a purpley red stain off of white canvas? He was complaining that his head hurt yesterday evening and seems perfectly fine today so I think it was just a one off. 🤞🏼

carrots, DD1 was a biter. It was a very stressful time. I was mortified every time we were notified by daycare. We only read "Teeth are Not for Biting" and "Little Dinos Don't Bite" at bedtime for months. It's a stage. It's normal. But it sucks really bad until it passes. And it sucks even more when you think you're in the clear, and then randomly after a year without incident, your former-biting ends up leaving a full set of teeth marks on a friend's arm...

Thank you for sharing judyblume14. Having the biter is definitely worse than having the bitee. And half of M’s classmates are children of my close friends so I just feel terrible. Although DS’s classmates were all coworker’s kids so that was an extra level of awkward haha. We’re talking about it a ton at home and I’m trying to remember that she understands a lot more words than she says so we need to keep talking about it. I do remember DS got bit badly when he was almost 2 and it was a full set of teeth bite that broke the skin from another almost 2 year old. He tried to take a little girl’s toy purse and it always makes me chuckle that he got what he deserved - you don’t take a lady’s purse from her!

I feel a sigh of relief of how much better life is this week- E's sleeping is better, H is almost better from being sick, I am done being sick. E is doing so much better at daycare.

Lakes, I pre-treat with clorox stain remover, then put more clorox in a bucket with hot water and leave to soak in the tub overnight. It's gotten many stains out that I normally would have abandoned.

Anybody have any fun ideas for Fathers Day gifts or cards to make? I’m thinking about getting H a baseball glove to play catch with DS but haven’t come across any card ideas that I love. And I need to make cards for the grandpas too.

Hi. So I'm glad to hear there are other littles that aren't speaking a ton. R has 5-6 words, doesn't call me anything and is not a repeater. It's hard not to compare but dd was such an early talker, I think she was putting together 2-3 word sentences by now. Pedi was reassuring and we will look into intervention at 18 mo appt if nothing has changed.

Also is anyone dealing with a growth spurt? R was up a full 2 hours early today and has already eaten 2 waffles, half a med Chick-fil-A fry and 2 chicken minis. And now he is crying for lunch and shaking his high chair, about 45 minutes before normal lunch time. He also popped 5 teeth through this week.

I don’t understand where she puts it and how she remains so tiny. She’s definitely shot up in height recently but is still light as a feather. She just hit 19lbs yesterday! A couple weeks ago both my earlier risers were getting up even earlier 😭 Luckily, they’re back to 6-6:30 now.

Hey! I'm actually doing alright. I feel like God is being graceful to me, like he saw all my crap and decided to spare me from being too sick this time. The last 2 times I survived on zofran and reglan and was a mess. This time I have bad days but no where near as bad, and I'm on no meds! Just you know the exhaustion of the 2 kids I chase around all day! And I hit 2nd tri this week! Thanks for asking!

It’s been such a long week. Work has been so busy. Today is H’s and I’s 4th wedding anniversary we went out to dinner Tuesday for some good dinner drinks and dessert.
E has been a bottomless pitt and they comment on it at daycare too. E now says parts of the alphabet and with help now counts to 10 she is learning so much st daycare.
