Went for my first OB appointment this morning. I will have final RE appointment next week. New OB so it was really just chatting with her, ultrasound, and bloodwork. I was kind of surprised she didn’t do a pap or any other exams, not complaining but thought it was odd. We drew blood for genetic screening test, not sure which one, but really hoping we get results back before Mother’s Day. (And they are good!!) I think she is leaving my due date at LMP which is 11/26 even though I have been measuring ahead. Baby measured 11w1d today.

Had my 14 week midwife appointment and saw a different midwife this time. It was very... quick. Like, the nurse took my BP and weight and I peed in a cup, and then the midwife came in (a different one than I saw last time, there are 6 in the practice) and asked me if I had any questions (I didn't) and then got out the doppler and checked baby's heartbeat and told me to schedule my next appt at 19 weeks so they can do my anatomy scan the same day. And that was it. Maybe I'm spoiled by the birth center practice I saw last time, or it's just a STM thing, but I'm used to a lot more talk from the midwife, and being asked more things (Like last time around this time I had to do a food log and we talked about getting enough protein...). I dunno.
When I did my hospital tour, I talked to another woman who had left the practice I'm at and went with a different midwife group that delivers at the same hospital. I'm wondering if this was the midwife she didn't like? She wasn't rude, just very wham back quick and not very bedside manner-y, which i'm not used to with midwives.
I guess I'll see how I feel after this next appointment, my first appointment was fine. I'll be seeing another new midwife since I won't know who will be on call when I give birth so they want me to meet all of them.

Had my first appt today. It was more of my annual check up I guess, but I didnt get my bloodwork taken. I go back for an ultrasound on Mpnday and then an appt Tuesday, where they go over health history (which I feel like they should have since I've already been through 3 pregnancies with them. Oh well).
TW
My doctor also booked me for weekly ultrasounds. My anxiety has been high since my missed miscarriage, so she said she would rather do this than have me constantly worry. With my mmc, had had an ultrasound at 6w & 7w and then not until 12, when the loss was discovered. So, I'll go in weekly through my loss milestone/NT scan. That has my mind much more at ease.

Dramaphile That’s very much how my OB is once settled in from initial appointments and blood work. Check heart beat. Pee in a cup. Questions? No? See ya next time.

I had my first ultrasound and OB appt this past Monday. Baby measured right on track and the heartbeat was good according to the OB.
Apparently my office has the OB visit at 8 wks, and a nurse visit at 10 wks for bloodwork and prenatal education. The OB I saw this time told me it was too overwhelming to do all in one day so they split it up.
This office also has you see everyone in the practice (6 delivering OBs and a nurse practitioner) for your appts so you get to meet and hopefully “know” them all since you don’t know who will be on call when you deliver. They said if inducing, that you could choose the date based on which OB was working if you wanted. Does everyone else’s practice do this too? I love love my OB that I’ve seen for yearly visits and I wish I could stick with him, but they don’t allow it. I wasn’t overly impressed with the OB I saw for this visit so I’m already hoping she isn’t on call when I deliver. Lol PS-Thank you to all of you who helped me relax about the vaginal ultrasound-it wasn’t bad at all and my technician was amazing. She did have to do some gymnastics down there to get pictures of everything she needed, but it was not at all painful.

paisleytulips My OB is the same. It’s a group and you have to see them all. I will say that an OB I wasn’t a fan of ended up delivering DD, and he’s officially my favorite now. My feelings in the delivery room went out the window. Get the kid out, please and thank you. IDGAF who does it 😂 But, really, it’ll be fine. I was pleasantly surprised by how awesome he ended up being in the delivery room. Hopefully you experience the same!

I learned yesterday that the OB who I saw with DD is retiring in August. I’m bummed! Guess it’s back to the drawing board to choose a new one...

One thing I try to remember about the OB situation is that what happens at the hospital is so out of my control. There are so many factors that go into a positive L&D experience aside from the Dr. Like, this time I’m a little sad my doctor statistically probably won’t be the doc on call when I deliver because the practice is big. However, maybe I’ll have amazing nurses and a great LC!
Last time when I was with a smaller practice, my own doctor delivered DS and was there throughout the day when I needed her— which was awesome (her office was just 2 floors up within the hospital). BUT my nurses were awful, they didn’t have any open recovery rooms, the LC was rude, and they forgot to feed me dinner 2 nights.
I guess I’m saying it may all be a wash, so I’m trying not to focus too much on who the delivering OB will be.

I had my appointment on Wednesday. It went well but she couldn't find the hb with the Doppler. She said she didn't want to end the visit like that so she went and grabbed the ultrasound machine! Baby was much higher up then she expected and was why she couldn't find the hb. Baby was super active and kept wiggling. Hb was 145 and perfect.

I'm less annoyed by it a few days out, I think I just forgot how quick the early appointments go, and I probably was a little spoiled with my previous midwife practice. Now just focusing on being excited about the anatomy scan in less than a month!

Saw baby! Measuring 8+5, so baby is measuring closer to what I’ve tracked (9+1) every time I go. Saw and heard the heart beat. Actually looking like a baby now, which is exciting. Go back in 2 weeks for official OB interview crap. I didn’t realize that wasn’t happening today 🙄

Last appointment with RE today. Baby is right on track and was moving like crazy. Nurses gave me a onesie with the office logo on it and I started to bawl. Got the call this afternoon that genetic screenings were fine and I will pick up the envelope with the sex in it tomorrow. Such a good day.

Had my dating ultrasound and OB interview yesterday. The baby is measuring right on track at 8 + 3 and we took a picture home to tell our girls about their future sibling. That was apparently the wrong way to tell them as my 7 year old was grossed out by the picture of "the inside of my stomach" and the 4 year old was afraid of the "shadow picture" lol.

This morning I had my follow up ultrasound. Last week we only saw a yolk sac. Today we saw the baby with a hb of 132! My lmp I should be 7w 1d but am measuring 6w3d (I knew I ovulated late). So, my due date has been pushed from Dec 30 to January 4th - so I may switch to the January board as a 2019 due date! Thank you all so much for your support over the last few weeks!

Had my NT scan today. Had blood taken too. I don’t get the official results until next week but they told me everything looked good at the scan. Measuring a few days ahead. Heartbeat in the 160’s.

Had my 8 week US today and everything looked great! Baby was measuring at exactly 8 weeks and had a heartbeat of 170. I am so relieved and finally feeling excited for this pregnancy. I’m also officially graduated from the RE. Have my first OB appointment next week.

Hai sweet baby!!! Do they normally take blood at NT scans? I’ve read this from some people, but my OB office said they didn’t. 🤷🏻♀️ I just hope I didn’t miss something important.

notelsie they usually do a blood test with the NT to test for abnormal hormone levels, which are used to determine risk of chromosomal abnormalities. Might be they do the two on different days if your OB's office doesn't do the ultrasounds in-house

Had our 12w apt this morning. Baby looked great and was dancing around punching her placenta! Got a shockingly good pic of her that we’re going to use for our announcement which I think we’ll go ahead and do even tho I’m at the tail end of first tri. I’ll add it when I can get on desktop. No further apts until 6/20 and I am done with the FET meds Saturday!
