Pizzaslut, omg kids that don't sleep are the worst (says the mom with a 4 year old that doesn't sleep). I have never thought of melatonin for her. hmmmmmm, maybe a call into the pediatrician is required. The only advice i have is don't give in to him wanting to sleep anywhere besides his bed. DON'T DO IT. Stick to your guns. I know it's hard, especially being pregnant. Hang in there my friend. Definitely worth a conversation... only reason I even thought to bring it up was because when she had the flu I gave her the Zarbees night time cough syrup (it has melatonin) and she was sleeping. It was amazing. I was so happy when her doc said it was something I could give her.

fierymama, i missed what the surgery was for. i think it was for his ear but why? and why no sports? equilibrium or something? and THAT SUCKS BALLS. He had a Tympanoplasty on his right ear (we will be going through this again next year on the left). His ear drums never healed after his tubes fell out. I think it is an equilibrium/pressure/possible injury issue. No gym. No recess. He is so upset about it and I hoped there would be a lighter restriction after this appointment, but nope.

Pizzaslut , is he in the big boy bed? with new sheets and a nightlight? Yup. All that jazz. He escaped his crib last summer at like 21 months. It was torture for about 6 - 8 weeks. Now he's moved into a new plane-themed room with a twin bed. He tricked me and was doing fine for 2 weeks.

RunsforWineandCarbs, I'm here. I left work early today. BH going on constantly making it hard to concentrate. Plus, Ive been wearing a giant pad to work to because I'm a walking pending busted water balloon. I decided enough was enough today.

Betweenthelines, love your shower!! Pizzaslut you will get through! Sometimes the specific threads are just way easier to jump in and out of. I'm here but have been in meetings all morning and checking out my rip rap blanket that is nearing completion. The mud was so thick that each boot weighed like 5 lbs more. No need for the gym today thats for damn sure lol

I’ve already accidentally found a snake in my house one and that was enough for me

I emailed C's soccer coach to let her know that he can't play or practice until at least mid-April. I asked if she still wanted him to watch practice/games so he knows what his team is doing. She said if it is okay with us, he can be her "assistant" so he still feels like his is helping the team. Leading in stretches and maybe leading (but not doing) drills.
I think I am going to let him do this, but if I start to feel uneasy about it, just stop until he is able to be released from his surgeon. I don't want him to injure his ear or anything, but I can't stand not letting him do something to help his team. :-(

Just the biggest fucking hugs Pizzaslut. No sleep and pregnant is horrendous torture. I think you need to rent a hotel room this weekend and go get yourself some sleep. I hope J turns a corner soon. M has had messed up sleep since the fucking time change, and that combined with sick is driving me batty.

My birthday is coming up Easter weekend and I may ask if she can take him both nights.

I've been MIA lately. There's just a lot going on and I've had a hard time managing everything. We're in FL this week visiting FIL, so that's been great. We're 4 weeks into our kitchen remodel and the granite countertops were installed today. When we get back on Saturday I should have a working sink in my kitchen, hooray! It feels like I still have a ton of decisions left to make about finishing touches on the kitchen though. I'm ready to be done with this- I think I've made approx. 4 trips per week to Lowes or other kitchen stores since this whole thing started.
The thing that has put my stress level over the top is that our nanny gave notice a few days ago. She wants to be done by the end of March despite having made a commitment through at least the end of May. There is no way I can find anyone decent to start in April and I've spent the past week going through profiles on care.com trying to figure out what I'm going to do. Basically our nanny doesn't feel like she can handle our kids anymore. She feels overly stressed by the job and my kids' behavior. I'm not really sure what to think about that. I know my kids can be challenging at times, although they're much more challenging when she's with them because she doesn't set firm limits. I've tried to help her with that but there's only so much I can do when I'm not there. This also comes on the heels of a week when Abigail was throwing wild tantrums and diving out of her crib head-first at naptime, which I think really put our nanny over the edge.
I'm crossing my fingers that a nanny magically materializes out of nowhere in the next few weeks, otherwise I may be losing my mind.

Sending hugs to you Pizzaslut. I hate to post and run without letting you know that I read your post and I hear you. I'm sorry things are rough right now. Sleep issues suck. It's awful. We've been dealing with major issues over here too for the past few weeks since trying to get Abigail to stop sucking on her blankie all night (it's seriously ruining her teeth). After weeks of tantrums and no sleep for any of us, we've stuck to our guns and have been rewarding with stickers and mini marshmallows in the morning. It's finally starting to work but I feel like we've had to sleep train all over again, but this time with an angry toddler. She was diving out of the crib and stripping naked in the middle of the night. Eventually I called her bluff. She didn't really want to sleep on the hard floor with no pajamas. I left her there for a short while one night and didn't say much about what she had done, other than to let her know that if she got out again I wasn't putting her back. Then we talked about how soft and comfy and warm her bed was. The rewards helped a lot too. We give her immediate rewards in the morning if she sleeps in her crib all night and puts herself back to sleep without crying. Each night at bedtime we review what she needs to do to get her reward and we give her tons of praise in the morning if she succeeds. This must all be so much harder to deal with when you're pregnant and exhausted anyway. I'm sorry it's been so hard. I hope this phase passes and that you're all able to get back to getting some sleep again.

armpants, That's a lot for you to take in. Whatever the diagnosis may be, you're a mama who has advocated for your child and I know you'll get him the services he needs. I hope he is able to make great strides in the coming months.
