Lakes not sure what the situation is it definitely could be snow melting causing it all. Either way I hope it gets fixed and soon. Eta it's supposed to be the the 40's here later this week.

I got the proof of dd's invitations. At the bottom it says "the only suitable gift is your presence" which was NOT on the sample. I was going to have them delete it but now I'm thinking maybe it's not a bad thing? There is nothing that she needs and there's already so much kid stuff in the house. But then I feel guilty because second baby syndrome. She's not going to notice though. It's family only so I'm sure the aunts will ignore it if they want. These are my 6:30am, the coffee hasn't hit my brain, anxiety musings.
What would you do? Delete the no gift line or leave it?

Lakes, I think the phrasing of that line is a little tacky. When peopl ecall and RSVP they'll ask for gift ideas. Then you can respond with "right now, baby girl really doesn't need anything! We're just happy you can celebrate with us!"

I stick to the idea of not mentioning gifts on invitations, because that implies you are expecting them. But if I simply HAD to say "no gifts," I'd go with the cutesy "you presence is present enough!"

Speaking of gifts, any birthday gift ideas for these babies? We have allllll the toys and allllll the memberships and swim lessons just started. The grandparents love to give toys but I can’t find much that we don’t have and would also want. So far my only idea is a play tunnel. My ILs set up a separate college fund for each kid so I can’t ask for contributions to her savings and spring clothes aren’t really out yet. I’m pretty stumped on this.

I'm at a gift loss as well carrots. I highly recommend the tunnel. Both the baby and toddler love it and it takes up no space to store, I slide it under a chair or couch. I have the tunnel by Pacific Play Tent (on Amazon) and it still looks brand new even after 2.5 years of use. I actually bought the same one for my nephew for Christmas even though he's only 6 months old 😂

Corner neighbor is at the hospital getting ready for her baby! I'm excited and also glad it wasn't a couple hours later because then I'd have to get out of my warm cozy bed to go over to her house for the night. Thanks baby!

Hi ladies! I'm so sorry I haven't been a better friend, and I feel like I type that every time I pop in.
My moms cancer has now been diagnosed as a rare and aggressive form. It's called endometrial serous cancer. I've Dr googled it and it's scary as shit. We are hoping and praying that they caught it very early. Her surgery was Thursday and she came home yesterday, after being in the hospital since dec 26. She had a major mental breakdown, they had her in the psych unit for a day until I asked them to run her blood levels and check her electrolytes. It's concerning that I knew better than the drs, because her sodium was super low, which can cause all the symptoms she was having. It wasn't the first time we'd been in that situation, but this was the first time the hospital treated her as a person with a health problem and not a psych patient to medicate. Somehow they managed to keep her admitted until her scheduled surgery, and I will always be thankful for that.
Anyhow, now we're waiting for tests done on her lymph nodes while they were in surgery, she starts chemo at the end of the month (hopefully after Katie's birthday), and now I have to plan her birthday/baptism too.
I'm going to try to catch up in this thread. Happy birthday to all the J17 babies that I missed though!!

Holy crap pibblemom, that's terrifying and rage inducing that you had an idea of the problem and had to request testing. You and your mom are in my thoughts ❤️

carrots what about a Yookidoo bath toy? Ds has the yellow submarine sprayer and dd just got the flow and fill spout. Ds is currently using it sink with his plastic animals, he's been entertained for the last 20 minutes. My plan is to use it in the water table this summer so they have a continuous water flow. Since she won't have another gift giving holiday for a year I tried to put some "bigger kid" stuff on her Christmas list.

Lakes good suggestions! We don’t have any of those so I’ll add it to my list. I agree that I’m really leaning toward getting toys for her that are aimed at 18 month olds instead of 12 month olds. I sent MIL a few ideas and she decided to renew our zoo membership and she wants to take M on a special trip to the children’s shoe store to pick out new shoes once she’s walking/grows out of her current ones. Two wins for me since those were things I was going to be buying otherwise and another win since it means no new toys in my house!

Lakes - that bath toy looks great! I may have to put that on my list for gifts. I know both kids would get a kick out of it.

Corner neighbor had a healthy baby boy yesterday 🎉🎉 name is Elijah. We will have to see when I met him in person but my ovaries didn't explode when she sent a photo. So I guess that's good.

Sil is freaking out and complaining to me that my nephew has dropped percentiles in height and weight. Obviously I totally understand the anxiety, especially as a first time mom, so I'm telling her all tips and tricks the doctors have told me between my two kids. Then she tells me he's gone from in the 50s for both to 25th. My face: My nephew's arms are easily twice the size of dd's thighs. Even though he's dropped he's still a scrumptious little butterball. I don't think dd's ever been in the 20s except maybe when she was born/the first month. Now I am starting to freak out about her weigh in at her one year appointment. She's happy and healthy but sighs, I hope she's gone up a bit.

Big whine over here - poor M is sick with some random virus (full body hives and a fever) and we’ve decided to cancel her party on Saturday. I’m so bummed. At least it’s a birthday she’s not aware of and won’t remember but I hate that instead of celebrating, she will be feeling crummy. She’s pretty pathetic.
