There is a Bates girl currently struggling with infertility if I remember right. But I don’t Bates so maybe RajahMD can speak to that. Michelle has had miscarriages, she believed them to be caused by her birth control and that’s what lead to the 19 kids shenanigans. I’m unsure of if any of the Duggar girls would speak publicly about something like that if it did happen. It’s believed that Jill’s second delivery had complications based on pictures of Samuel’s birth, but they have never spoken publicly about it. yeah, Michael.. aka Michaela. Another one also had problems but she has 2 kids & is pregnant with #3 I think. Erin. She had at least two miscarriages before they figured out what was going on (clotting issue). Since then, she has been able to carry to term successfully.

I did not know Jeremy had a tattoo. So maybe he does have progressive BC views. Do you think she would take them if he told her even if she didn't want to? I feel like after 19+ years of brainwashing it would be to hard to over come. Ugh this family is so fucked up. where's his tat??

100% And Jeremy wasn’t raised Fundie. I’m sure he wants to family plan and not “leave it up to God.” Maybe he convinced her birth control was perfectly normal and not sinful. This I found doubtful. Even in non-fundie Christian circles, BC is still considered wrong because the egg, if released, can still fertilize and then it's the disruption of the uterine lining that causes it to not implant. I don’t think this is true overall. I know it’s considered wrong by Catholics and some other groups, but I grew up in a pretty conservative church and birth control wasn’t taught against. I’ve gone regularly to multiple churches and not really heard almost anyone who is anti-birth control. I think it’s likely Jeremy is pro-BC.

My parents and their many fundy Baptist friends and acquaintances are anti BC because they believe it’s the same as abortion. Especially IUDs.
Not sure how they feel about condoms. We weren’t allowed to talk about those.

40 days of sex immediately after marriage sounds horrible. I came from a similar background as the Duggars and I can say that when you are uneducated about sex, it can be uncomfortable for a while. Even as a horny young 20something, the vagina needs a break!

Condoms mess with the delicate pH balance of the vagina and will cause all kinds of infections and sores. #obviously And STD protection isn't a thing because two virgins have nothing to worry about, and that's the only sex you'll be having. #duh

There’s some speculation that Jill has a nose ring because Derrick spent time in Nepal. I’m not incredibly familiar with Nepalese (nipali?) culture; however the nose ring could be a nod to that, as opposed to a fuck you dad thing.

Fundies and their obsession with sex. It's disgusting.

I’m willing to put money on the fact that Jinger is not Jeremy’s First partner. He was living a normal life until he turned fundie-lite. Alcohol, parties, tattoos.

If so, that makes sense why Jinger wasn't pregnant within two weeks of the wedding. He has avoided getting a girl KU before. I am very willing to believe the Joy and premarital sex/pregnancy thing. I've seen it myself with couples who were "courting" and it really only takes 10 minutes of being alone together

As far as condoms go, my hardcore Catholic friends would turn their nose up. But in my conservative Protestant circle many of us use condoms during our fertile window or had tubes tied. But that is simply because if sperm makes it to the egg there is no stoping of it fertilizing. But my guess is quiverful people are a no go on condoms because #GodinControl
I find people's reasons for not using birth control pretty interesting, even if a little wacky.

I need a chart of whose who and their spouses. Josh Duggar is married to Anna. They have 4 kids all of whom have names starting with M. Jill Duggar married Derrick Dillard. They have 2 kids- Israel and Samuel (I might be wrong on the second kid's name and I'm not googling.) Jessa Duggar married Ben Seewald. They have two boys as well - Spurgeon and Henry. Jinger Duggar married Jeremy. They are expecting their first baby. Joy Duggar married Austin Forsyth. They are expecting their first. Joe Duggar married Kendra. They are expecting their first. There are 13 still unmarried, including the 2nd and 3rd oldest (John David and Jana).

I find people's reasons for not using birth control pretty interesting, even if a little wacky. My mother's, to quote "I was convicted that God is either God of all, or He's not God at all." Usually accompanied by a fist pound on the table. This was drilled into our heads. Good Christians didn't use birth control.

I grew up in an Evangelical church and everyone used birth control. I think it really depends on the denomination and specific teachings of the leadership there. I think sweeping statements that all Christian's done believe in BC is pretty broad and unlikely.

I think people's views on birth control stem more from their family views over the individual church. My sister and I don't use hormonal BC but my SIL who was my sister BFF growing up uses BC. Same church, different views based off of mother's opinions. Idk how wide spread this is just an observation.
My husband family is Southern Baptist and they think we are BSC for having 4 kids.

I have such mixed feelings on the Duggars (specifically the adult children). I really feel like they are brainwashed and to a great degree, victims. But at what point does the victim also become the perpetrator. Even, to some degree, Michelle. I feel like she was grieving badly and someone swooped in to tell her that losing her child was God punishing her for using birth control. Now, I hear that statement and think it is crazy, but I know grief can make you think strange things. And if someone really pushed that on her when she was at her weakest, I can see how it would become ingrained in you.
Overall, I feel the most sorry for Anna. But at the same time, she's subjecting her children to the lifestyle. But if she is truly brainwashed, is it really her fault?

I'm Christian and have gone to church most of my life (off and on) and can't recall birth control every being discussed.
I have an IUD.... do i think I'm going to hell for it? No.
Do I think it's best for my family, body and mental health. Fuck yes.

And just to be clear. I was raised in a similar fashion as the Duggars. My mother is BSC. I have friends (from that time of life) who attended a Duggar wedding. Any time I make statements like "good Christians don't _____" I am speaking entirely sarcastically from a fundie viewpoint.

The Diggars summer attire isn't really light and breezy. The swimsuits kill me.
