I need hair help. After moving from a super humid climate to a dry one and accidentally destroying my suddenly brittle hair with a metal hairbrush, I'm left with this: I've tried switching to a repair/smoothing shampoo and conditioner combo and using frizz spray but neither have made a difference. I look like I am wearing a crown of broken dreams. Plz halp my sad head.

I would do some hair masks and deep condition treatments. Make sure you use plenty of conditioner in the shower. Use only a comb to brush hair for awhile and get some Argan or other oil to use.

I'd go with a smoothing lotion, it'll weigh your hair down more than a spray. But you only need a little bit. Something like Paul Mitchell gloss drops.

My hair is very fine and breaks easily so I have this problem. For a quick fix, I take a small dab of gel and very lightly smooth it over my roots to get the flyaways to lay down. Then when the gel dries I gently push my roots up with my fingers to break up the gel and add a little volume.

Use a wide tooth comb in the shower after conditioning. And smoothing cream (we use bed head after party for frizz) after your pat dry. Air dry if you can.

When was the last time you had a trim?

Hairspray is my go to. It's the only thing that works on my frizz. I just spray a little after straightening or blow drying. My favorite is L'Oréal brand aerosol, it's cheap and it smells nice.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I can't air dry because then the remnants of what used to be bangs look crazy. But I'm sure the blow drying isn't helping things.

I have been using Living Proof No Frizz Nourishing Oil and Styling creme to combat this same issue.

Not using a blow dryer reduces how much my new growth sticks out. I still use a straightener on a low heat setting though.
When I do blow dry I end up using a pomade to hold the fly always down.
Minimal heat is best and masks/conditioning treatments will help it grow out though.

Thanks, everyone. Maybe I'll start washing it at night and just sleep on it wet. Then in the morning, I can just try and straighten the bangs, and not have to deal with the hairdryer. That plus some sort of smoothing oil might help.

I just spent $50 at CVS. Worth every penny if it helps!

I know this is the opposite of what some people will tell you to do, but I get hair like this when it's hot/humid outside, so on those days I just comb and put my hair up as soon as I get out of the shower. If I want to wear it down later in the day, I'll braid it so it looks somewhat presentable once it's dry and I let it down

I only dry my bangs to avoid this nonsense. I either twist my hair into a low bun and let it dry or sleep on it damp and use the hot brush the next day. Put a leave-in spray conditioner in, then follow with a gloss when it is dry and lightweight hairspray as needed.

I have superfine hair and live in a dry climate and have had those crazy frizzy pieces for years. I think I've finally come to a solution. I only co-wash now. I use Herbal Essences naked cleansing conditioner (and it's cheap!)
A dab of Aragon oil after towel drying. And then Bumble &Bumble Don't Blow It styling creme. Let air dry then I use hairspray, sometimes a flat iron on low heat.
Switching my towel for hair to a microfiber anti frizz one helped a ton too

@privacy my first attempt to fix this problem was co-washing -- it did NOT work out well; I was a greasy mess. My hair is thick and wavy, which I think contributed to the grossness.
