Guys, this kid pees on and through everything!! It’s maddening! I try pointing his penis down after changing and close the diaper but I’m not sure that’s doing anything since I still have to put Vaseline bc of his circ.
Any tips or tricks??

The Vaseline for the circ impedes the absorbancy of the diaper and makes you more likely to get leaks. You should have an easier time of things once the circ is healed and you don't need to use Vaseline on it anymore.
Does the diaper seem to fit ok? Only other thing I can think of is that the fit could be off for the size or brand you are using.

I think the diapers will fit perfectly once the circ is healed and the cord falls off. Thanks!!

If you have gauze, put the gauze between the penis and the dipe - that will help keep the Vaseline from affecting the diaper.

Yeah, it'll get better once you aren't using Vaseline. Definitely point down the best you can. We sized out of newborn size diapers incredibly quick, before the umbilical stump fell off, and that helped a lot.

We had leaks with Pampers Swaddlers, which is what we used exclusively with DD, so we switched to Huggies. They fit him much better and no leaks. We also sized up out of newborns around 4 weeks.

Like pp said it could be brand compatibility. This was what I found out with DS and also experienced it. Huggies are good for chunkier babes. I tried them with DS and we had leaks. Pampers are better for leaner babes which both DS and lil fella are thus pampers it is for us. I had a bunch of samples from various brands to try and pampers was the winner

I like the stretchiness on the back of huggies. I felt like I could get a tighter fit with the vaseline and folding down for the umbilical cord.

We had leaks with Huggies and just could not use them at all. Sometimes a different brand or one size up works.

Thanks so much guys, all very helpful tips! We’ll be done with the Vaseline on Monday or Tuesday so I’ll see how we do after that then re-evaluate diaper brand. DS is about 8lbs and long/lean.
How many days after the circ did you all wait to stop putting on the Vaseline? Our sheet says 7-10days. It looks like it’s healing very nicely, but I’m guessing I should keep doing it until 10 days to be safe?
This is all uncharted territory!

At our 4 day appointment (on a Tuesday) his pedi said we could stop by the weekend. Basically once all the scabbing was gone. Sure enough that Friday it was all healed up, so I stopped that night. That was 6 days after the circ.

Our doctor told us one week, but I ended up using the whole tube of bacitracin that they gave us and that took almost 2 weeks. I personally would do 10 days just to be safe. Also, re: diapers, I really liked the Huggies Little Snugglers for DS. I was gifted a ton of Pampers so we are using those now but the LS fit him really well - if you're looking for a new brand/style. 😊

Yes, the little Snugglers is what we switched to thatgirlrachel. I remembered friends saying they fit better on scrawny legs, and that was DS. He's starting to chunk up now, but I'm sticking with them.
