We spent entirely too long at Ikea today gathering pieces for our entertainment center and I'm exhausted. Everyone else is asleep in the house right now, so I'm enjoying some me time.

Oh, I had my 6 week check-up on Thursday and everything checks out. Doc said my incision has healed beautifully. I have to go back next Wednesday for my 2 hour glucose test to make sure the diabetes is all cleared up.
Also I learned any "ahem" bowel problems should clear up after 6 weeks because the progesterone is almost out of the system. So stick with the colace, fiber, prune juice, whatever (in my case, all three). Eventually all should go back to normal.

I didn't have constipation issues during pregnancy, but pp has not been fun. It's weird because my diet hasn't changed (except to completely remove dairy), and aside from 1 day of Tylenol in the hospital, I haven't been on any pain meds. Must be the hormones then...I just want to get back to normal processing!

August Blooms the blue top dermaplast is amazing for that area. I had a level 2 tear with DD and DS and it helps. You just spray it there every time you use the bathroom

Hey I just noticed my feet swelling has gone down. This is the first time I've seen my ankles in a couple of months!

I guess I shouldn't have said the thing about her sleeping well at night. She finally let me sleep for about an hour at 2 am.
I'm trying so hard to be patient and recognize that she is so little and doesn't know what's going on around her, but damn I need to be able to put this baby down sometimes.

cythe Babies are so hard sometimes. I've been having struggles with LO's sleep today. He was up from 10am to 3pm and just would not nap - wanted to be held constantly and was super fussy. It is so hard when they pull this stuff - esp since we know babies need their sleep and don't want to see them uncomfortable. Have you heard of the wonder weeks app? It tracks your kids development according to their age and gives you a heads up when they hit "stormy times," which often coincide with crankiness and poor sleep. I used the app with DS1 and found that it helped me to empathize and understand when DS1 was being difficult. It also gives you tips on things you can do to help your kid through the stormy times. I think it goes from 0-24 months. Just mentioning, as I know it helped keep me sane the first time around.

We had every intention to go to a Halloween event at a local park yesterday but it didn't happen. DD didn't even change out of her jammies yesterday, that's how lazy our Saturday was...
Today BIL, SIL, niece and nephew are coming over to meet DS. Otherwise, no plans!

+1 to the wonder weeks app cythe. I didn't use it with DD because she never lined up well with the weeks because see was a preemie, but I have friends who swear by it. I may get it for DD thus time around. He was early, but I think he'll be closer to the weeks than DD ever was. Just keep in mind every baby is different, so she may not line up perfectly, but you'll have some idea of what to expect.

I also didn't have constipation during pregnancy. It was a relief to hear there would be an end to the slow bowels.

Last night was the worst so far. DS2 would not sleep unless being held. I tried nursing, bottles, pacifiers. I got about 45 min of straight sleep and woke up a sweaty mess. Looks like today will be clean sheet day!
DS1 rolled out of his bed middle of the night so that was another wake up. He does this maybe once every couple months. Maybe I'll try the pool noodle trick to keep him in?

I put on some pre pregnancy jeans and they were really tight I was was thinking about how much weight I gained this pregnancy plus the baby weight I never lost after DS and was feeling pretty down until DH walked in and said: wow, you can finally fill out a pair of jeans! Love that man.

That has been us over here I can tell just think it’s really starting to wear on me because I’m starting to break down at random moments. We use the pool noodle trick with DD. It does help if you have extra sheets and mattress pad protectors to help hold it in. I found that one sheet and one mattress pad was not enough to “lock in” the pool so it didn’t move.

I’m taking DD1 to a trunk or treat event this afternoon. Initially, we had plans to take everyone including LO but with her recent sickness she’s going to stay home with dad. DD1 is so excited to be Elsa - still not conventional switch trick-or-treating is. it took awhile for her to settle down for nap but hopefully she wakes up rested and ready to go!

So, good news the first leap Wonder Weeks says happens is spot on as far as the signs of it.
Bad news, it's not supposed to start for another 16 days. So, I have no idea what to make of that. I get to deal with this for the next 3 weeks? My baby is some sort of developmental super genius? Some babies just start early? Parenting is hard.
Edit: please forgive my excessive whining. The lack of sleep is being compounded with H's leave ending today. He may (or may not) leave tomorrow - or any day after that - and we won't know until the day of. So, that's also on my mind.

My mom is picking me and the boys up tonight to do trick or treating at our preschool. I still can't drive yet and H has an event to attend. We are still unpacking boxes and can't find DS1's "real" Halloween costume. Thankfully he said that's ok he can just be a dog, which we did find.

Last time I still couldn't get my rings on at 6 months PP so I finally had them resized. I guess my fingers just stayed bigger from my first pregnancy....? I wore them the entire pregnancy this time and I can wear them now.
My feet don't look swollen but now that it is getting cold and I can't wear flip flops everywhere, it seems that they are swollen since real shoes feel tight. 😐

Waiting for my parents and sister/BIL to get here to carve pumpkins and celebrate my birthday and play games! We are ordering in Mexican, a whole variety of delicious street tacos and guacamole and jarritos. Yummmmm! And my mom made chocolate swirl cheesecake, my favourite. My body is so ready.

Take care of yourself and vent anytime you need. ❤️

DD#2 (we still haven’t decided on a name) is eating like a champ but hasn’t had many pee’s or poops today. I’m guessing we are in for a poopsplosion sometime soon. She’s not real fussy so I think it’s the transition to breastmilk.
