The sleep deprivation has precluded me from thinking up a creative title...how is everyone doing?

I have figured out of the past few days that LO has a dairy sensitivity, just like his older brother. That means no dairy for me while breastfeeding - back to almond milk. Fortunately it's really easy to stick to a dairy free diet here in Asia, so it actually shouldn't be too much of a hardship.
Also - random question - anyone using a post partum girdle? I feel like my insides are wiggling around too much and I need something to hold myself together! I'm using a folded over belly band now, but thinking of getting something more designed for a girdle function. Worth it?

I'm up feeding the baby. This little boy is the loudest, gruntiest sleeper I have ever heard. He doesn't cry when he wakes up, he grunts. And he can be in a deep sleep and still grunts all throughout the night. It affects the little bit of sleep I can get between feedings bc of course I wake at every sound. Anyone else have a grunter and have any tips?

Stretch and sweep made me crampy and I had a few mild contractions last night. When I woke up, nothing. I have a chiro appointment this morning and then DD is home so I’ll have to figure out something to do with her. IL’s are here but their parenting revolves around TV and tablets so it’s up to me to come up with other ideas. She’s been into stamps lately so maybe I’ll get a washable ink pad and let her have some fun with that.

thatgirlrachel I have a big time grunter. DS1 was also one. No tips -I found DS1 naturally grew out of it once he was like 3-4 months. Basically, once he could control his muscles more and not have to make so much effort/noise to poo!

Taitai I used the belly band as well. I intended to try to find something else but didn't get around to it. My belly feels better these days (almost 4 weeks pp). thatgirlrachel both my boys have been grunters, DS2 worse than DS1. They'll outgrow it. But it is why we moved DS1 out of our room earlier than expected. They're so little, but sooooo loud.

I gave up obvious dairy with DS1 and found I liked almond milk better and never stopped! I only like Trader Joe’s unsweetened vanilla though and I know you can’t get that there. I can see how dairy free wouldn’t be too hard over there.

I’m struggling. Baby isn’t even here yet and DS is on a whole other level. It’s mainly his sleep and mood that is going to shit. I may have cried when his speech therapist suggested sending over a sleep consult as part of his therapy.

I got some pretty good stretches of sleep last night. But then I wake up really full and he's doing his popping on and off latching. Sigh. I hope I can get some good help today. It's frustrating to feel like I know what I'm doing when I leave, but then fumble everything at home. Basically I need them to move in with me. Or another set of hands.

I'm glad to hear that he will likely outgrow the grunting but we do plan to move him out of our room in the next few weeks due to it. The swaddle has def helped with the reflex andgoing back to sleep on his own but that grunting is brutal all night long.

Today is my birthday! Nursing DS and hoping he’ll hang out in the bouncy seat for a few minutes so I can shower and then DD and I are making frozen waffles for breakfast

I have a question for others who have had a c-section or anyone else on pain relief drugs...
My doctor prescribed Motrin and Hydrocodone. Motrin is usually enough for pain relief but I may take one per day of hydrocodone if i overdid activity and the pain is worse for some reason.
My MIL is convinced I'm hurting the baby by taking the hydrocodone, because he sleeps a lot. She's questioned whether I'm really in pain and implied that I'm taking the stronger drug for fun. She's also texted screen shots of blogs where it claims it will result in infant death. We've had our first pediatrician visit and the doctor said he's just a very calm baby. So should I be concerned? I don't think my doctor would prescribe anything that would harm the baby and she knew I was BFing but now MIL has me paranoid.
My dosage is 2 pills (5mg) every 6 hours and I may take one a day because 2 at a time makes me feel disoriented.

Happy birthday doodlemommy! curmudgeon I really don't imagine they would prescribe you pain relief that would hurt the baby. My baby has been super calm, enough that the pedi also commented on it, and I'm not on any pain meds. As for me, I feel like I don't really have anything interesting to add to randoms. Every day is just nursing and diaper changing all day, with a little sleep in there sometimes. So, I'll just say hi!

curmudgeon I'm on the same pain cocktail that you are, they have had me on them since delivery (I also don't take them often). Newborns sleep. A lot. From what I've read, it's fairly hard for a baby to get exposed to a significant dose of medication we take. It has to get into our blood, then into the milk and then be absorbed by babies tummy and enter their bloodstream. It's a long journey for what's already considered a safe medication.

Happy birthday doodlemommy! curmudgeon newborns are sleepy. Some more than others. I guess you can call your dr for peace of mind, but I don't think they'd prescribe it if it could be harmful to the baby.

Thanks. My logical side knows she's ridiculous. She just kept harping on it until I told her I'd stay off all pain medication so she'd go away.

Add us to the grunts club. Sorry no tips other than if you use a noise machine it could help drown the grunts and squeaks? I've just gotten accustomed to it 😅

Lil fella does the same when I'm really full. It's hard for them to get a good latch when out boobs are full and engorged. Could you try hand express or use a hand pump just before feeding to get the boobs less full?

Thanks. My logical side knows she's ridiculous. She just kept harping on it until I told her I'd stay off all pain medication so she'd go away. It's safe. Confirmed by both my pedi and ob. I ended up not taking the norco, instead I alternated the presc. Ibuprofen with acetaminophen- Tylenol. The norco has side effects I didn't want to deal with. I was also told to take the meds as needed. At the end of the day you need to function as best as you can to take care of baby so don't worry just do what you need to do. Also during the first couple of weeks I was advised to keep up with the meds schedule. I stopped taking them around 10 days PP

Thanks. My logical side knows she's ridiculous. She just kept harping on it until I told her I'd stay off all pain medication so she'd go away. You had major abdominal surgery and need to recover. If one hydrocodone a day helps you, then please done stress it. Unless MIL has MD after her name, I would ignore, ignore, ignore. That's a standard med prescribed for c-section deliveries. They wouldn't prescribe it if it was going to harm the baby. Please don't stop all pain meds because MIL is being pushy. Your recovery will be 10 times longer if you don't stay ahead of the pain. If you want to do the combo motrin/Tylenol that duskymonkey suggested, do that, but don't just stop meds if you feel you need them. Your baby is being a baby. They sleep. A lot.

And afternoon everyone! I'm grabbing lunch before putting DD down for her nap. DS is chilling in his swing. We've had him sleeping in his RNP the past few nights, and it's been glorious. 3.5 hour stretch, then solid 2/2.5 hours after that.
It's gorgeous out. We went for a walk this morning and I've got all the windows open to capture the breeze.

Oh, I'm not really stopping all pain meds. I just told her what she wanted to hear.
I appreciate everyone telling me what I already knew. I don't take her advice on anything really but telling me I'm harming my baby got in my head.

Sorry your MIL is nosing where she doesn't belong. You need to recover on your terms with whatever meds necessary to do so! I haven't taken a narcotic pain medication in over a week and baby is still sleepy- clearly just being a baby and not a side effect of the medication!

+1 to the grunting baby club. She makes so much noise!!! I also can't tell if she hates the bassinet. I tried to put her on the flat portion of the PNP last night with no real difference in her sleep. I dunno- I just think she doesn't like to sleep at night.
We had DD's newborn photos this morning at the house. We have been using the same photographer since our engagement photos and wedding, so he knows us really well and does a phenomenal job. Baby slept the whole time until the end when DD1 held her for some photos. It looks like they will come out cute, I can't wait to see!
It's supposed to start pouring any second here. We kept DD1 home from daycare for the photos so she is napping, baby is passed out in the bouncer, and DH is working from our home office. I am watching Chopped and debating between baking cookies and taking a nap. Tough decisions.
