DD2 arrived 10/3. I will do her birth story soon but right now I need all the help I can get.
Sleep is non-existent around these parts. We had it figured out for a minute, but she's started having gas discomfort the last week and never sleeps more than 20-30 minutes at a stretch unless she's on us. We've tried the swing, bouncer, rock n play, nothing works for long. We tried gas drops but they didn't seem to make a difference. I'm going to a breastfeeding clinic tomorrow to check her latch (she latches well but then starts making a clicking noise when she eats), but beyond that I'm at a loss. I know the gas discomfort is normal, but I didn't know it would be all day and all night, and not knowing how long it will last is killing me. DH is being a star and trying to help as much as he can, but he's back at work and picking up all the other slack with the older two and he needs to sleep too.
Anything would be helpful. If you've been through this, please tell me about it. I just feel really alone and overwhelmed with this. I thought by the third kid I'd be handling all of this better, but I'm really not.

First off: Congratulations!!! No real advice, but lots and lots of sympathy. Our hardest baby in terms of fussiness was by far DD1, but the only thing that really helped was time. Can you get a mother's helper for a while for when your DH is at work? Yours are spaced about the same as ours, and I know it's rough, but you will get through it. on the really hard days I would repeat to myself: in 3 months everything will already be so different. I can make it 3 months (even if it felt like I wouldn't last the rest of the day). Hang in there!

Post and run because I'm short on time right now. Fist off, congratulations! We found that bouncing on an exercise ball with our babies was a life saver. Swaddle, bounce, and then once they fell asleep we would gently lay them in a rock and play or the swing. We spent a lot of time bouncing in the early days.
If you're nursing, think about limiting certain things like beans, gas-producing veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, etc.) and see if that helps. If there's no obvious improvement from changing your diet, that's probably not it.
Hang in there and take it one day at a time. These early days are rough!

Congratulations!!! Other that what other have suggested maybe have her checked for acid reflux. My friends baby was good for a week then she literally wouldn’t sleep more than 20-30 minutes at a time and had to bed held for that. They found she had horrible acid reflux and was on way to many meds to remember. She did grow out of it, started growing out of it around 6 months.
