LOL so two minutes after Sen Grassley says, "I hope no Republicans come back bc we're short on time" Sen Cornyn comes in to ask more questions.

I know we love to turn everything into an acronym here in DC but turning The Internet Crimes Against Children Act into "Eye-CACK" is a bridge too far

Cornyn and Sessions are basically engaged in a circle jerk right now.

A rare moment of me agreeing with Sessions: part of the key to cutting down on heroin addiction is to stop people from becoming addicted to prescription medications. I'm glad to see they aren't taking a "War on Drugs" type approach

Senator Coons: Tell me what you're doing to prevent and prosecute cases of discrimination against LGBT? Sessions: We are open for business

Senator Hirono is calling him on the carpet about his "little island out in the Pacific" comment.
Sessions: "I had no idea that it would be interpreted [in a way that delegitimizes Hawaii's status as an equal part of the US]...these judges need to be careful that they aren't blocking the power of the POTUS--LET ME FINISH"
Hirono: Oh no, I heard you. LOL

Hirono: You sure didn't mind when a federal judge in Texas blocked President Obama's expansion of DACA. So where do you sit on the powers of judges?
LOL

Mazie wants to know why they fired Preet.
Sessions says well, that's the president's decision

he agrees with Sen Hirono's concern that Sessions' legal opinion stating that DACA is illegal constitutes a problematic bait-and-switch situation. Good. So do something about it.

Blumenthal: If any of the Trump people transmitted classified info through private emails, will you prosecute?
Sessions: Well ah, um, maybe?

Did he just say he didnt think the Tower meeting happened? I think he was just saying there was no outside communication about it and he didn't know about it. Idk though.

We live in a world where on a scale of Any Democrat to Trump, I would vote for Sasse. I wouldn’t like it, because he’s still the actual worst. But. Ya know. I'm registering as a Republican in 2020 most likely so I can vote against Trump in the primary. Sometimes I wonder if I should do this. Because I know the republicans will win here no matter what, but at least I could help choose which Rs? But. Ew.

I'm glad to see they aren't taking a "War on Drugs" type approach The only reason there is so much sympathy right now for heroin addicts, though, is b/c so many of them are white. If the opioid epidemic were centered primarily in communities of color, you can guarantee it would be treated as primarily a criminal matter. YEP.

I always automatically ask for the Dem ballot, but in 2018 and 2020 I'll probably ask for Rep. It will probably feel icky, though.

I'm registered as an independent, just because I pride myself on voting for the candidate, not the party, but that has almost always resulted in a straight D ticket. Independents can vote in either primary in my state. I always think about trying to sway the R vote, but have never actually done it.

I was going to vote for Kasich in 2016 primary bc we have open primaries and Trump and Cruz scared the bejeezus out of me. But that's when HRC and Bernie we're neck and neck so I decided to put my weight behind her instead bc I didn't think Bernie could beat Cruz, who I assumed would be the nominee

I take the R ballet because otherwise I would have literally nothing to vote on except school taxes. If there is a democratic candidate running for office, it’s ussua unopposed. ANd there are many local seats that run unopposed in the general election, so my only way to make my vote count there is to vote R in the primary.

Except most of the positions are unopposed anyway, especially local ones.

Takeaway: Sessions is basically a paid intern who doesn't know anything, doesn't really do anything, and doesn't know who is in charge of what. ??
