My extended family wants to vacation in Napa (actually, probably St Helena). What can I do with a three year old in that area? I'm not thinking he'll be into the wine tasting...

There's a geyser in Calistoga.
Safari West is pricey, but cool.
If you make it over to Santa Rosa, their children's museum is awesome.
Although, my 3 year old loves wineries. Most have fun gardens and pretty walks to do. We just bring her copious amounts of snacks.
Oh and there's Castelo do Amaroso, which is a legitimate castle or Sterling that you ride a gondola from the parking lot to the tasting room.

My mom lives in Yountville and my kids also like the patio at R+D kitchen. The food is, ok, but they have a koi pond and fish food and a huge outdoor space.
The park there is also pretty cool.

So really not much--except that vineyards aren't bad.
Thanks though!

About 1.5 hours south is Muir Woods. We were there when my oldest was about a year old and she loved hiking through the trails and checking out the huge trees. You can also venture into San Francisco. The Sea Lions at Pier 39 are really cool and there's lots in that area that will be interesting to kids.

I would do Armstrong woods over Muir with a toddler. It's much more accessible from St. Helena and is a very similar view, with much fewer tourists.
I second the children's museum in Santa Rosa, my good friend is a manager and we have spent lots of time there. I didn't catch how old, but there's the Charles Schultz museum and ice rink right next door as well.
It's a little pricy, but Safari West is an awesome tour in between St. Helena and Santa Rosa. (Be aware that this is where the fires were and it's a little eerie driving through).
Also PM me, but I have a toddler/preschooler and grew up in Napa and lived in Sonoma County for over a decade.
Too many things to list.

I love the Napa valley but yes - for wine tastings but aren't there also any hot springs around? You can take beautiful hikes too.
