First day of week 3 ✔ it's kind of sad, but running for 3 straight minutes is the longest I've run in a really long time so I'm pretty proud of myself. Do you guys have recommendations for good running shoes that don't cost a fortune? I'm going to go look for bras and shoes soon so I'll be ready when the running gets longer! If you have a running store, I'd go there. It's so person specific. I've always worn Nike (Pegasus right now), a lot of my college team mates swore by Asics. +1 for visiting a running store. I bought my first pair in a local store. One of my friends worked there and he did a review of my arches while standing and walking and all of that. Now that I know what I need/want in a shoe, I use the Runners World find a shoe thing and order them at the end of the season (when they go on clearance) from places that will take them back after a trial run. I've only had to send one or two back at this.

I'm about to back out of my 5k tomorrow. I'm chickenshit. No! You can do this. There is no reason in the world why you can't. I don't know you, so I'm assuming this too be true. You are not going to come in first. So the only person you are racing against is yourself. It doesn't matter how long it takes. It doesn't matter if you have to walk. It is still 3.1 miles. I cried on the way to my first half marathon. I texted my husband and told him I felt like a fraud and there was no way I could do this. But you know what? I did it. And you can do this.

So I confessed this in FFFC but I'm just being vain and stupid. It's a race at my high school, where I was a hot shit runner. I'm kind of embarrassed at how slow I am now.

cnf , lol it doesn't. But it does tell me it's a different course than any I've ran. I've never run through Angels stadium! That's very cool! I feel like they used to do that with the Disneyland Half Marathon, but haven't since I've run it. I'd love to do more Disney races, but they're $$$$ and I neither live in California or Florida, so not only am I hit with an expensive registration fees but also an entire vacation price tag. Maybe some day. We treated it like our last hurrah vacation before TTC number one. The entries for the Disneyland Paris races opened this week and I really, really want to do it but like you said $$$ or €€€ in this case. Hopefully one day.

So who's doing what this weekend? I did 5 miles with my running group this morning. Taking a rest day on Sunday, maybe some yoga. I signed up for my half marathon in October!

I'm in Asics too. I was in the Brooks Adrenaline for years but they kept changing it and finally it just wasn't working for me. The running store that I go to fitted me into Asics and I was actually in a men's pair for a while. I have three pairs now that I rotate, slightly different models. I absolutely recommend getting fitted at a real running store rather than guessing what might work. The one I go to takes a video of your feet while you're running on the treadmill so they can slow it down and see exactly what your ankles and feet are doing. You might be there for an hour but it's worth it to have the correct shoe so you're not risking injuring yourself with the wrong choice.

Week 6 of couch to half marathon is done. 5 miles on the treadmill today. I'd rather run outdoors, but the gym has free babysitting so ::shruggy guy::
My lower back is feeling soar, even just a couple hours later. Anyone else experience this after long-ish runs?

I ran a 5k this morning and finished a minute faster then two weeks ago. Slow for regular me, fast for pregnant me. I really need to let my body slow down now. So hard to let go of competitive control.

I attempted w6d2 today and it didn't go awesome. Halfway through my gym's wifi cut out and I lost Pandora. I cannot run in silence. So I got off my treadmill and got on a different machine closer to the desk/door where I know the connection is stronger. It took about 5 minutes to re-connect. My run was supposed to be 22 minutes without stopping, and well, that didn't happen.

I've had that happen where I try to change my music (I wear my phone on my arm) and I skip ahead or stop the workout.

A few times I've been a ways from home running outside and it happens. Suckssssss. I definitely don't blame you!

This isn't a brag on myself, but my kid. We did a 5k yesterday and my five year old killed it.
It wasn't his first 5k, but most of the ones he does he ends up complaining and whining for most of it. (Then we finish and he asks to sign up for another one).
Yesterday he did the whole thing without a single compliant. Yes, there was some walking, especially in the last mile, but he did it! And knocked 2 minutes off the last 5k where he ran the whole thing without complaint.

I can't wait to get her in some little kid races next season.

cnf, he's 5.5 right now. I signed him up for his first race (not just pushing him in the stroller) when he was 2.5 years old. It was a 5k in a local amusement park and we did it with a bunch of his little friends. They ran/walked/sat on benches and curbs to take a break. We were literally the last people to finish, but it was really fun for them. After that, I started signing him up for shorter/kid's races that a lot of our local races had. Like 1k, 400m, or even one mile. He does much better with those, but there are certain 5ks that he loves and specifically asks for. I think if you can find a short distance race geared towards kids, you could definitely sign your daughter up. Check out local turkey trots/Christmas races, since a lot of them tend to have kids' distances also. I know the local mother's day race by me actually has the kids' race as a free add-on to the adult 5k. My son ran the Stars Wars kids race at Disney earlier this year and loved it. He wants to do it again next year. If they ever open registration I'll probably sign my 2 year old up for that too, since they have distances to match the different ages.

billyhorrible I've been wondering at what age I can start entering DD, will keep a eye out for short races. The last few times I've gone running, she asked to come with so going to try next weekend, do a short jog/stroll see how it goes. I did 5 miles today, it was hot and humid but I think I got a slight tan on my arms which is nice.

She's only 19m right now, but she can basically run the whole .4 mile circle street we live on without skipping a beat. She loves running in the stroller too, but H has been bringing her to my races lately and she gets so excited. She's still a bit little right now but I know next year she'll like them for herself.

Hi ladies! I love to run (slowly but persistently). I started with c25k last July and since then have run 3 5k races and a half marathon. I'm currently base building and will kick off another half training cycle in July for an October race. I also do HIIT and strength training with a PT twice a week (I truly hate HIIT) but running is my go to.

Also, for all of you who are doing c25k, the c25k subreddit was a big help when I started and I highly recommend it when you need a shot in the arm.

I started week 7 of couch to 1/2 marathon yesterday. I was scheduled for rest of XT, but MH is out of town at the end of the week so I will only get to run again this week on Tuesday. It was 30 min of run 4 min, walk 2 min. I'll do that again Tuesday & then 5 mi on Saturday.

I got in a quick run this morning. I did 1.25 miles on my treadmill then split another .25 miles into a warm up and cool down. I don't really have time for then that before work, but thankfully I'm done with work after this week. Just happy I peeled myself out of bed on a rainy Monday and stuck to my treadmill run despite not wanting to.
