I'm still working on my reading 52 books this year. I'm a little behind, I think, but can still make it.
What have you read lately you loved or hated?

I wish I could join in on this. I used to love reading. I am hoping that we start to move bed times up like we have discussed 238024830948 times so I can start again. We have a library just a few blocks from the house. I need to figure out their hours.

I've been reading a lot of Karin Slaughter. They're thrillers and pretty dark but I can't stop. I'm almost done the Grant County series, which were her first 6 books. You can def tell because the first 2 were iffy by I loved the 3 and 4.
I read pretty girls which is a stand alone and loved that one. I'll maybe need to change it up a bit because that's 7 in a row of hers haha.

I just finished State of Wonder by Ann Patchett, it was pretty good I had high hopes for it but didn't like the ending, if I remember correctly. Did you read her book Bel Canto? I loved that one so much (so I guess that is a recommendation!) but State of Wonder just did not do it for me as much. But it was decent.

Like fierymama, I just don't have the reading time right now with how our nights are going. I love to read so this makes me sad.

I want to follow as well. I love to read, but just haven't made it a priority lately. My goal for our trip in September is to read at least one book. I will need some suggestions for then.

I'm looking for suggestions too!! I was just about to search the book thread. I like thriller/mystery/YA type books I think you would like the red queen series that 45thparallel (I think it was you) talked about on TCF. Not a thriller or mystery but def young adult.

I'm not sure why I didn't think of this last week but I downloaded an audio book to listen to while I vacuum. It's called sleeping giants by sylvain neuvel. It was recommended to me by my Goodreads account based on how I rated other books I read. I'm probably only a few chapters in but it's good so far.

The best, and highly entertaining, book I've read recently is
Ready, Player one.
I'm also in the book club, so I'm supposed to be starting What Alice Forgot
and I have Trevor Noah's book at home.

Peekaru ready player one in on my list too. In fact, I just entered a give away on Goodreads to try and win it. I think easternshoregirl recommended it at one time

I just finished Kitchen Confidential. I definitely enjoyed Medium Raw a lot more, but it was still good. I like Anthony Bourdain. I also enjoy that his life was really really difficult into his 40s and now he has "made it". It's a good reminder than anything can happen at any age!

jedi which book did you hate The Grisham one? It's called The Whistler. It was pretty terrible. I'm disappointed because Grisham used to be my favorite author. I was looking at a few of the reviews on goodreads and apparently I am not the only Grisham fan that thought this. So that gives me hope that some of his other stuff I haven't read isn't so terrible

So I'm started The breakdown tonight by BA Paris. Same author that wrote behind closed doors.

It's a bit of a nice change from the intense thriller/mysteries I have been reading. It's a quirky british WWI era mystery series. It's more sherlock holmes by the fireplace kind of mysteries and it's a nice change from the gorey mysteries I've been reading.

45thparallel if you are looking for a good audiobook i highly recommend sleeping giants And waking gods. It's a series. The audio is awesome! I feel like I'm listening to a movie. They have different voices for the characters (like different people even i think).

This also has different voices for the two lead characters, I thought I'd hate it but I'm really liking it. I'll put that on my list tho. Thanks.

I'm now starting another David Baldacci series, the Will Robie series. I've read the Amos Decker ones to date and figured I'd like this one too. Anyone read these one?
