I feel like I'm in a fashion slump, and I'm looking for clothing and dress recommendations for pear shapes. I usually stick to blouses and skinny pants (because pear shaped) but I really need some dresses for work (it's hot as fuck in my state). I feel like the only cut that is remotely flattering is a sheath. Anything that flares out just accentuates my gigantic hips. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places? I also have to be conscientious about dress length as I work in a high school.
So I'm curious what other cuts/stores/outfits work well for pear shaped gals. Thanks in advance and commiseration on pear-shaped problems.

I find Dress Barn to have really flattering clothes for my pear shaped self. Most of my wardrobe comes from there. A lot of the dresses have rouching or designs that draw your eye to your waist, bot your hips. Their Sunday line is so soft and comfy, and I'm slowly replacing all my clothes with it.

A-line dresses work best for me. I aim for just a slight A-line (nothing too flared) for the exact problem you mentioned - I don't need to accentuate my hips!
And yes, draw the eye up. Dark/solid on bottom, brighter/pattern on top. I look for details that accentuate my waist and make my chest look fuller, so I looked more balanced over all. Interesting neck lines and necklaces.
Boot cut pants work for me sometimes too. They end up looking like straight-leg since my hips are so big.

As far as pants go I've had good luck with loft pants. My hips are very wide and I've got a bit of a belly now (Thanks kid) but my legs are skinny, which makes finding fitted pants difficult. The Loft Modern skinny and curvy skinny both fit well.
I wear an XS blouse and a size 6-8 pants, so that gets tricky too. I like express blouses.

I'm also coveting this boxy tee from Everlane. My workplace is pretty casual so I could dress it up with accessories and pass it off at work. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
