Basically help me adult. We bought our house nearly 4 years ago. The wall color on the first floor is all an off white/cream color. The first floor is essentially all one open space. There are dark hardwoods in the living room and a lighter beige tile in the kitchen. We have a big sectional that is blue/charcoal that is the only furniture in the living room other than a dark wood consule. We also don't get a ton of light since there are no windows on one entire wall.
M and I have no color/fashion/design sense. How do we pick a color or colors?

The answer is always grey. In your case, a grey that's in the brown family as opposed to a blue grey.

And make sure you paint the ceiling as well. It makes it look so much better.

The answer is always grey. In your case, a grey that's in the brown family as opposed to a blue grey. It's called Greige and it's amazing. I second this.

It would likely be too dark, and it will look purply (used to work for SW so I'm a paint color nerd). I would look at SW Amazing Gray, SW Agreeable Gray, Accessible Beige, Mindful Gray, Repose Gray, Useful Gray to start.

I also love Ben Moore Revere Pewter, I have it in my living room and I think it's a perfect greige. I have Agreeable Gray in my upstairs garage too and it's very similar.

You can paint blue too! Neutral isn't required.

Something along these lines could be pretty. ETA I don't know why all of a sudden my photos are uploading like garbage on tapa, so blurry!

Well I'm cheap and $40/gallon is a lot when you have to paint an entire house interior

Same. I get it at 30% off. Last time the sale ended and they gave me the discount anyway. I think I've been in the store too much.

I scrub my walls constantly (because black dog slobber) and it comes right off and leaves zero marks. Truly amazing.

If you like blue, you would probably love our living room walls. It's ACE paint's "Uptown Girl". It's blue with gray undertones but it's definitely blue. Whenever we have people over who haven't seen the house, they comment on how much they like the color. If I can figure out how to upload a picture tomorrow, I will. The ACE of the east side of the city (store starts with an M) has a great paint staff and could help you find the color (or another color you might like).
