buggirl I am happy I found an update on you and the twins! How are you guys doing? I'll intro too DS is now a happy 3.5 year old, though occasionally is a threenager. Who said 3 was easier than 2? Lies! He was born @36 weeks via C due to pre e and IUGR. He was 4lb 11oz. He spent about 3 weeks in the NICU because he couldn't hold his temp. He's met all his normal milestones since then but is still only 3rd percentile on the weight chart. Skinny boy! I didn't realize that your DS was IUGR. So glad he is doing so well. bootsorhearts1 and pink, sorry to take so long to respond. With all the stuff that went down the week before the twins were born I've been a bit in ninja mode as far as the boards are concerned. Tomorrow will be 7 weeks since B and E were born and their adjusted age is 34 weeks. B has recovered really well from his surgery. He was previously off of all oxygen support and then started having bad desats. Turned out that he had indicators of an infection (based on a couple blood tests) but they were never able to actually find an infection. They went ahead and started him on an antibiotic cocktail that took care of what his labs were showing but he has not been able to kick his high flow (holding steady at 2L). He has been a weight gaining machine and hit 1500 grams on Wednesday which allows him to wear clothing at his NICU (E's NICU requires 1800 grams and being in an open bed). He has gained another 140 grams since Wednesday. At the rate he is going, he will be 4 pounds this week. Yesterday he was allowed to try his first bottle. He was exhausted already when we started but he did take 4ml. We were going to doing bottle number 2 today but he ended up needing a blood transfusion. I'm hoping this will make a difference in his breathing and let him wean back down to low flow. He starts back on feeds at midnight but I'm not sure if they will rotate a bottle feed back into the rotation tomorrow or not. Here's his first outfit. E is a little rockstar. She is only 2lb 6 oz but is gestationally appropriate in all other measures. She has been cannula free for over a week, sats at 100 during kangaroo care, and shows all the signs of being ready for a bottle. Only problem is she is too small for her hospital to try. I have not got a clear cut answer on what size they want her to be before going to a bottle. So, for now, we just wait for her to grow. She is on the slow train and my guess is that she may get to 1400 grams by Aug 1 and 1800 by Sept 1 if she stays at her same pace. The doctor classified her week as "boring" and we are hoping she goes on a very long streak of boring weeks.

Sorry for the late response! I just saw this. We are all doing good and we have tentative graduation days for both. We were surprised by Benji's doctor who said as long as he drinks all of his bottles until she rounds again tomorrow, he can go home tomorrow. Eek! Evie has been on a tentative Sunday graduation for a few days. She just needs to have good blood work tomorrow and no other weird things popping up.

Hey all -- not a preemie mom, but looks like a soon to be preemie Aunt.
My sister was just admitted to the hospital today at 29w for Pre-E (she has high BP, protein, and swelling). They've given her meds to help the BP, and have her on magnesium (sulfate??) to prevent seizures. Her first course of steroids will be this evening.
The goal is to get her to 34 weeks, but even then, she's looking at a NICU stay... her daughter is measuring 2 weeks behind, and in the 5th percentile for weeks as well - although twice weekly BPP show she's meeting all her milestones, in utero.
Any tips/stories? What can I tell her about the NICU? She's at a hospital with a Level III, that's good, right??

Hi Everyone!
I posted at the dump and the other place here and there. DS was a 31 weeker and is now 3.5. And I agree with pp 3 has deifinitely been more challenging than 2 for us! He is doing good tho. He is past his motor delays and all caught up (didn't get into a sitting position on his own until 16 months and didn't walk until 19 months). He is going to speech therapy now but is really starting to come along in that area as well.
I just got a very faint BFP this morning after trying for almost 3 years for a second. We are very nervous about finding out if this is a viable pregnancy and then will be nervous about staying pregnant enough to avoid a second NICU stay.
