My DD was born at 32 weeks because of undiagnosed placenta previa and I started to hemorrhage. She was 4 lbs 5 oz at birth and stayed in the NICU for 3 weeks. She is now 20 months (18 adj) and has been hitting all dev. milestones. She finally graduated to the regular CDC growth chart too (1%). She still nurses like a champ and is a total firecracker.

DS was born at 33w3d due to reverse flow. He was 3lbs 10oz. He is 7 months old (5.5 adjusted). He has numerous several needs and we are still very much in the thick of things although we are in a good place atm.
Eta: we were in nicu for 7.5 weeks

DS was born at 33 weeks due to my own food poisoning/stomach bug...we really don't know, only that I was so dehydrated that he was safer out than in.
He was 4lbs 10oz and was a rock star feeder-grower. We spent 5 weeks in the NICU basically because he refused bottles and once we figured out he would BF, we came home.
He's now 18 mo/16 adjusted and is hitting all his milestones. He's currently just over 20lbs (his 3.5 year old sister is my peanut at 30!)
We're still waiting for some more words, but his big sister never shuts up, so I'm not worried yet.

I'm here. Was runningmommy. Two preemies.
S1 is now 5 but was born 35 weeks due to iugr and pre e. 3 week NICU stay as a feeder grower. Now he's a giant and off the charts for his height.
S2 is 22 months. Was 35 weeks due to knot in cord. 36 days in special care nursery.

Hi! I'm new.
My twins were born 5/28/17 at 27w3d due to PTL. I was all ready in the hospital in bed rest because DD had IUGR and we had a scan showing some reverse flow.
Everything was looking good and we were optimistic about making 28 weeks when I suddenly started having contractions.
DS weighed 1lb14oz and is 13 1/2 inches. DD weighed 1lb4oz and is 12 1/2 inches.
Both were taken off the ventilator this morning and are doing well though DD has had a couple episodes of forgetting to breath.
When we went to see them today they both were crying which was just amazing.

Hi! I lurked on the old board, but thought I'd finally intro.
I had DS at 33 weeks, 2 days due to pre-e. He was 3lbs 6oz and in NICU for 18 days as a feeder/grower. He'll be a year old in 3 weeks and is on the verge of walking! He's a little behind in his communication, but his doctor isn't worried yet.

Oh my, that's super embarrassing. I started writing an intro and felt a little shy, and didn't finish or post it.
I'm guessing by the dxxxxx that one of my 16 month olds must have posted.
Anyway, my boy couldn't tolerate my contractions after my induction so I had a c section. I don't know if it was "emergency" but I got put to the front of the line. My boy came out without a sound at 4 pounds 2 oz and my girl came out mad at 4 pounds 5 oz.
They spent 10 days in the NICU and luckily we got to take them home together, I had been worried one might come home before the other.
My kids are huge, at least my boy is. My boy hit all the gross motor skills way sooner but now they both are jumping on the couches. She talks more, their pedi says that's only fair!

My dd was born at 35 weeks for no explained reason, just went into labor and barely made it to the hospital. She was 4lbs 12oz. She had a feeding tube and had to stay 5 days until she could keep breast milk down. She had no issues after that. She is now a healthy and wild almost 2 year old.

Hello everyone! I didn't post much on the preemie board at the other place, but I did post a few times. I had a preemie DD born at 29 weeks 5 days due to pre-e, she was 2 lb 7 oz. She was born in April 2015 and is now two years old. She was in the NICU for exactly 9 weeks. She is a little delayed in communication, but not far enough for concern yet. She may need glasses for correction, due to a slight astigmatism in one of her eyes.

buggirl how are your LOs doing? How Are you? pink, thanks for checking on us. It's been an exhausting week as we figure out the two NICU thing. Overall, they both are doing well. Evie was taken off of her ventilator on Friday. She is self correcting out of most of her apnea and the couple that have needed intervention were just light intervention. Most of her apnea issues seem to be related to positioning (she keeps tucking her chin down against her chest). She was taken off of photo therapy today so hopefully they can get her swaddled and into a position that will help with her breathing. She also continues to be upped on her feeds and they added calories yesterday. She is 10 grams below birth weight but I'm hoping she starts gaining now that she is getting extra food plus calories. She also may have her central line removed tomorrow. If they happens, we are very close to kangaroo care. Benji came off of his ventilator yesterday and is doing excellent. He has had a couple apnea episodes but is self correcting out of them. He also was taken off of photo therapy. Not sure if we will be able to do much on his position with his stomach incision still healing. He has a drain for the wound that also plays into how they can position him. He also had a replogle tube which he removed himself this morning. His doctor decided to leave it out as not much was coming out of it and he had been super slobbery with it. He received a picc line yesterday so I'm hoping we see his other iv lines removed soon. He is down 4 ounces from birth so I'm really hoping that we can get back to feeds soon.

Identical 2.5 year old boys - Matthew and Timothy. Born at 29w after a month of hospital bedrest. NICU for 2 months for lung and feeding issues. Both are developmentally delayed but are (mostly) cheerful toddlers who love their Winnie the Pooh. Attachment Deletedbuggirl - Both my boys lost weight their first week. Timmy couldn't get more than fluids for days because he had PDA. They bounced back. I hope and pray your LOs chub up soon

I haven't done more than lurk around here since we left The Dump, but my twins (one girl, one gender-creative child) were born at 29 weeks 6 days after 11 days on hospital bed rest (3lb 2oz, 3lb 7oz respectively). They were in the NICU for 69 and 60 days, and Aurora had a PDA and PFO (both of which had no impact on her wellbeing and resolved on their own, thank goodness). Rose had a small speech delay for which she received therapy and both kids have sensory processing disorders. That said, they have an amazing OT with whom they are working and making great progress, Rose is outgrowing her asthma (which may not even be remotely related to her prematurity), and they are both tall and healthy and strong. They are also performing at least a grade ahead of their peers in school, they are creative, insightful, and kind. We are very aware of how incredibly fortunate we are. AW picture below:

Evie put on 10 grams so yesterday she was officially back at birth weight. She is also on feeds only with breast milk and added calories. We are hoping to see her start gaining at a regular rate. I was just figuring out that if she can average 10 grams a week then she should be at the 2 pound mark around the 4th of July. Benji is still IV only with his stomach healing. He should get back to food within the next seven days if his dye study comes back good and there are no other issues. He is off all oxygen support and has been incredibly tough and is such a fighter.

I'm sleeping pretty good in between pump sessions. Physically, I'm off all pain meds and am getting most of my stamina back. My OB is refusing to see me before 6 weeks which is annoying since 1) I physically am doing awesome, and 2) I will use up all of my leave with my work if I'm off the full six weeks. I'm going to take more time off when the twins come home from NICU and am really hoping my employer is okay with me taking 4 weeks unpaid leave outside of FMLA. They have been very accommodating but being released back in 4 weeks would have at least given me 2 weeks of FMLA to bargain with.

Averaging 10g a week is certainly doable - you'll be amazed how quickly they grow once they are getting more fortified breast milk. Try not to get too hung up on day to day weight change - its going to go down some days too for no good reason. As long as the overall trend is going up, don't worry. Its great that they are off oxygen. My guys were on it for weeks. Steroids really are a life changer. That and Surfactant saved Timmy. Hopefully you can Kangaroo with Evie soon - its good for you both!

Hi everyone! I check in here too every once in awhile, so I wanted to say hi. I am always available to offer support and hugs and such :] My preemie was born at 35 weeks when my water broke for no apparent reason. He spent a week in NICU and is now a brilliant TWO year old! Can't even believe how fast he has grown. I was terrified that my second baby would be an even earlier preemie, and I had the progesterone shots and extra monitoring and walking restrictions and all this stuff.... and Homegirl was born at 39w4d at the end of February.

E was born at 29 weeks I had an emergency c section due to pre-e. She was in the NICU 2 days shy of 2 months and came home 2 days before Christmas. She is currently 7 1/2 months, 5 months adjusted. She is hitting all of her milestones and is in regular growth charts now for height and weight. She is doing really well.

buggirl I am happy I found an update on you and the twins! How are you guys doing? I'll intro too DS is now a happy 3.5 year old, though occasionally is a threenager. Who said 3 was easier than 2? Lies! He was born @36 weeks via C due to pre e and IUGR. He was 4lb 11oz. He spent about 3 weeks in the NICU because he couldn't hold his temp. He's met all his normal milestones since then but is still only 3rd percentile on the weight chart. Skinny boy!
