I’d like to confess that I just checked a map to see what time zone Ontario is in. Sorreh, Canada. 😂😂 no need to apologize, that’s our job!

We just did an all inclusive in Punta Cana (from the same area as you!). Ambar at Bahia Principe, highly recommend. Looks beautiful!! What are the masking requirements like at all inclusives?

Cabo isn't worth the flight to me... especially 8 hours. Hell no. There are a million places in the Caribbean that are fine/better and closer. I think I’ve got him hooked on to Exuma now. I just found out he got willed property down there but never thought he’d use it so he sold it five years ago. Cool, cool. Good to know about Islamorada also, sounds like it’s right up both of our alleys. Thanks for the tips and glad you enjoyed it so much!

I lovvvve Cabo. I actually think I’m going twice in the upcoming months. So I’m clearly a fan. It’s about a six hour flight for me. It reminds me of Hawaii, it has that laidback west coast beach vibe. There’s really great restaurants. And amazing rental houses.
I also love Puerto Rico. I was there in the spring. It definitely still has some damage. My friend lives there and she recommended us staying at a resort and eating mainly at/near the resort because places were still trying to get situated. Just something to consider if you want to rent a place. But PR is beautiful and a great destination.
Also, regarding Bahamas, you can get cooler weather in Jan/Feb. Just something to be aware of.

Cabo sounds very much like Tulum to me the way you are all describing it and I absolutely loved it there. We did Cancun in January 2020 and the weather was perfect for me so if Bahamas is similar, I am all in. Turks temps last month was almost unbearable some days, but I also can’t/shouldn’t complain.

Masks required everywhere inside, and even outside at the bars to order drinks, and for games. I am pregnant so was nervous, but felt very safe there!

Ime, Mexico has been much hotter than Bahamas. I’ve done Cabo in January and Cancun in Feb. Cabo has more desert weather than Cancun, hotter during the day, cool at night. But, I’ve done Bahamas in both January and February and that’s more similar to Florida weather, it’s somewhat unpredictable that time of year. The January trip was nice during the day but the February trip, we had to buy sweaters there and only got one true beach day.

We just did an all inclusive in Punta Cana (from the same area as you!). Ambar at Bahia Principe, highly recommend. I’m searching for a spring break trip for me and DH and looked at this. Is it all inclusive with meals and alcohol included? It’s only $2500 but I keep getting the Spanish site even when I change it, so I can’t figure out what’s included.

The keys aren’t worth it unless you have good access to a boat or you stay on Little Palm island. The vast majority of beaches are man made and many frequently have algae issues.
I would do a resort in PR. They have the added benefited of super high vaccination rates too.

Yes it's all inclusive! That's a great deal. I highly recommend this resort. We also stayed at aquamarine (same property), which was also nice.

Thank you for the insight Cher and Leaf 🌱. One beach day the entire week makes me not feel so good about it anymore. A resort in PR sounds like a better choice for the time we’re planning. I will look into AirBnb/VRBO too.

My sister and a friend stayed here in old San Juan during the uprising in Summer 2019 and really liked it. www.elconvento.com/I realize that it’s neither an Airbnb or a resort, but I wanted to throw out a “actually can vouch for” rec

Cher if you feel comfortable do you mind DMing me the resort in PR you stayed at? Yes. Of course. There’s an area we stayed in and I would really recommend any resorts in that area. There’s tons of restaurants, a full waterpark (like, fun for adults too). They’re constantly building there and they don’t have current damage. My friend lives in the area and she recommended staying there. I’ll dm you.

Also, if Mexico is still on the table, look at Mayakoba. It’s between Cancun and Tulum. It’s a gated community with all five star hotels, connected by man-made river. So you either take a boat or a bike around. My H and I went in the spring and had such a good time, we booked it again for this winter. Our next door neighbors ended up cancelling the Maldives and booking Mayakoba for New Years after they saw pics of our trip (full disclosure: Maldives Covid requirements were intense so that def influenced their decision). But it’s a really magical place and rates are amazing at some of the hotels there.

Feeling a tad overwhelmed with choices but I am loving all of these recs. Being the type of person I am, I am literally going to make a chart and compare all the pros and cons. Mayakoba now also sounds like we absolutely need to go. At this point, I think it will come down to weather and flight times. We love the beach, good food and drinks, being able to explore, and warm weather.

Keep in mind depending on your location in Cabo, a lot of the beach is not swimmable. Not sure if that's important to you.

The US Virgin Islands are gorgeous and warm that time of year. We have been to St. John and St. Thomas. I recommend both!

+1 for Punta Cana - we loved it. Great weather, also on a February trip. We did Santo Domingo a subsequent February and the weather was much more mixed.
