DDs PCR was negative, that’s two false positive rapid tests for us (Ellume and Binax). Has anyone scheduled their 5-11 kids at CVS? I was thinking to schedule for this weekend and use my dob/correct it at the appointment, and just cancel if they’re not up and running yet. They will not just change the dob. All the pre schedule questions gather information they use for data reporting and they're one of the pharmacies the feds are using for roll out. This could be regional but they will not just change a dob here.

I checked Walgreens and it looks like you can schedule as a guest and just fill out the screening paperwork at the appointment. I’m usually a rule follower, but I feel I’ve reached my fuck it threshold. This may be clouding my judgment.

Pfizer boosted and flu shot on Saturday, no issues yesterday except sore arms and a mild headache. The pharmacist kind of made me laugh, she's like "We still don't have much info on mix and matching, so I can't say if there will be any side effects". Lady, at this point, just fire it up. I'll take it.

Update to my post a few weeks ago: XH is now OK with getting the kids vaxxed (he was previously opposed). This is awesome news. I've been lucky with XH in this regard, he is typically anti-everything I believe, but he's ok with this. His GF, on the other hand....she's full on conspiracy theory.

Almost 12 hrs out from my Moderna booster. So far, just a sore arm. At this point post my J and J shot, I already was starting to have pretty bad chills and feeling feverish. I am feeling tired/sore, but it’s probably because my 5 month old is a jerk. I barely slept last night and held her almost all day. 24 hrs out now and still doing much better than after my J and J. I’m slightly chilled, but nothing major. I put on a sweatshirt and feel fine. And my legs are restless/achy, but totally manageable.

Staff was fully vaccinated and masked so here’s to hoping masks work. I think it was also one of the floaters so I’m hoping exposure was somewhat limited but who knows.

Since the dose is different, I would not just show up and expect to be able to change the date and get the right shot on the spot due to the need to thaw the doses.

In my area, Walgreens now asks which vaccine you want as you fill out the preregistration (initial or booster). Which store you go to depends on that choice. Since last March, my regular Walgreens now offers Pfizer only, but Moderna is at the Walgreens two miles away.
I would also expect the 5-11 group shots to not be at every single pharmacy, due to logistics of different size vials, staff availability, etc. But, I'm in an area where you trip over CVS/Walgreens every mile.
Maybe local, but Walgreens here is definitely saying appointment only for all vaccines. No walk in's.

It gives you options for series vs. booster, but yeah, since the dose is different, you wouldn’t really be able to ensure it’s actually available. Our pediatrician’s office isn’t pre-booking, our school doesn’t have a plan for clinics, I just wish there was a little sense of urgency.

But, I really believe there will be plenty of pediatric doses for those that want it.
Not to say I won't be poised over the refresh button to get an appointment the second I can.

Finally got the results for the littlest twin. Negative. As I assumed. I kept the other twin home today because he was showing the same runny nose they got the other one sent home on Friday. But since they both have the runny nose I need a doctors note for them to go back. Doctor will get the note to us tomorrow assuming no one is worse. So they can go back wednesday-ish 🤪

We were just notified that the speech therapist who comes into my classroom on Wednesday tested positive for covid, symptoms started on Friday. Our state quarantine guidelines just changed and now no one knows what we are supposed to do so that's great. So I'm waiting on some sort of guidance.

Signed DS up for a vaccine clinic hosted by a local school. Assuming all goes to plan, first shot on Sunday.

The CVS I use to get my scripts is so slammed right now with not keeping up with Rxs that they aren't even doing boosters at all. I had to sign up at another one close, no biggie, but my CVS is sinking fast.

They are hiring anyone at this point and agreeing to pay for their training just to get people working.

I'm so excited that I'm posting here too. I just got my 5yo scheduled for his first dose a week from today, the 8th. I feel like I can't concentrate on work now because I'm just so excited. It is FINALLY HAPPENING.

How would a smart, respectful person respond to this:
"If kids aren't dying or getting complications from covid , why can't they just get it and have natural immunities and get vaccine before college when there is more late on long term side effects"

Kids are sent to daycare and parents go to work when “it’s just a cold” that is actually RSV. People with the flu still go out and infect others. Kids go out with croup. They aren’t going to care once we move to the endemic phase of covid, either.

COVID was/is a leading cause of death for kids. I vaccinate my children for lots of things that are a relatively small risk, like the flu. I have experienced guilt over illness and death. I very much hope I never have to feel that re: my own kids. It is the kind of thing you wouldn’t wish on your worst enemy. I’m not sure I would actually use my energy to say anything. It is really apparent that many people are unlikely to be moved to vaccinate. My mental health requires I protect my peace on this topic IRL. If you truly think nothing will sway them, save your own sanity.

Apparently since the other teacher's symptoms started Friday evening my classroom is not affected from her Wednesday session. It's good to know that COVID is keeping strict hours.

There have been thousands of children in studies that have successfully made it almost a year at this point with the vaccine and have had no long term side effects, therefore the likelihood of side effects from a vaccine years and years later is statistically nothing. In contrast, millions of people are experiencing long term side effects from contracting COVID, over a year out from their initial diagnosis. I know I read the vaccine information here so maybe someone else has that link handy.

Those that do have it for various times and no one knows why yet. They also have varying antibodies with no idea why yet. They can have residuals from covid. Auto immune disease, connective tissue issues, heart. I would rather roll the dice in a controlled setting knowing when and what vaccine they received then catching the virus and rolling the dice on outcome.

piratecat I hope it's a case of better safe than sorry. Thank you. At least he’s pretty easy going and adorable to hang out with. The two youngest classes were exposed and since a lot of them have older siblings in the center I am just hoping the 4YO’s class isn’t also affected in the next few days.

I would just like to get off the never ending cycle of not knowing what’s going on. DS2 started coughing at the end of daycare and is croaky, kids are out waiting on tests, and Ds1 told me 5 kids were out and 1 was sent home coughing and losing his voice. I swear we can’t catch a break. And this is why my mental health sucks.
