I don't know if any of you get the Lakeshore catalogue, but they have some really cool stuff and my kids found a lot they circled for their list. I'm more likely to order stuff from their Lakeshore list than their Amazon catalogue list. I’d never heard of Lakeshore.. looks great!

Hello I'm back with more switch questions. nikkipal sarenu I ordered the switch package, and mario kart. I have a second joy-con controller in my cart and a couple other games (paw patrol, super mario brothers, and animal crossing). Is a pro controller easier to use for kids than the joycon ones? M is 4.5 and J is 7. J's hands are almost as big as mine. Let's be honest, I will be playing as well - I am very excited about both mario kart and animal crossing. My kids have very limited experience with gaming systems (just a little bit of wii) so they are going to have a learning curve and I'm trying to lessen the frustration for them. I am hoping that all 4 of us can play mario kart together so I want to make sure we have enough controllers to accomodate that. I saw they also have steering wheel things for mario kart but I feel like I didn't like using those on the wii so I dont know that I want to get them for the switch unless it is necessary. Eventually I foresee us having lots of mario games, zelda, and ultimately Minecraft when I'm ready for J to delve into that world. That's a thread for another day because his friends are into it but I feel like I"ve heard conflicting things about it and am confused as to when I should let him get into it. As of now he reminds me every day that when he turns 10 he would like it as a gift for his birthday, because Alexa told him it is recommended for ages 10 and up. *also I think I said my last gaming system was a N64 which I remember now is not true, we had a Wii many years ago. MH had an xbox but I never used it. I'm sure no one cares, but I don't like to leave falsehoods on the internets. We just use the joy con controllers and case. We don’t have any additional controller accessories. The kids have never complained. The joy cons can have drifting issues. The kids tend to press on the toggle a little hard and it can cause the toggle to record movement when you aren’t actually moving it. So make sure to stress gentle use. I’m not sure if the professional controller is different.

I think I might steal the snack idea for a lot of the gifts. My husband wants a whiskey advent calendar. Does anyone have a recommendation? MH wants one too and I told him to make his own for heaven's sake. He has approximately 40 bottles already. I volunteered to make one for him from his own stuff so it would be a surprise. A couple of our local liquor stores are doing wine & whiskey advent calendars, I'm not sure yet where they got them from. Saw a wine one at a grocery store I may need to stop at a local chain and see if they have them yet.

milano, I prefer the pro controller, and M (7) can use it fine, but it may be harder for the 4yo. If you want 4 to play Mari Kart, getting two sets of joy cons would allow you to do that. The wheels hold one side of a joy con, and make it a lot easier to hold, especially for kids. I got mine from Amazon and they weren’t very expensive I think. I got the Pro controller when one side of the joy con wasn’t working (the repair was free but took some time).

I'm still grateful for when someone here posted years ago about four gifts.
Want Need Wear Read
L wants a fishing pole , and J hasn't asked for anything specific yet. The wear will be new rain boots for both kids. Read so far is the third book in a devotional series about God and Science plus new subscriptions to the Ranger Rick magazines. We are gifting the RR magazines to their same age cousins too. Groupon has a good deal.

Though you can drop a lot of $$$!

Idk what to get for a young married couple (early 20s). No kids. Still kind of transient with no settled home (renting here & there).
We aren’t close so it’s not like I have a ton of inside info on their personal interests.

Or if you don’t want to go with wine, throw in dried fruit, fruit spread, nuts, dried meats, crackers, olives, or a nice set of plain cheese knives.

M wants a microphone. Unsure what she means. Not the standard ones that play songs. I dunno. Suggestions?

stringy, my uncle gave my kids that type of microphone. They are just as loud as you'd expect but bittersweetly so much fun for them.

Well they often turn the basement into a dance party so I may just get those and a disco ball and lock the door.

I picked up a Switch Lite with Luigi's Mansion 3 and Paper Mario: Origami King. I also got N a little Frozen "video game" thing. It plays a few spelling and number Games in a very pixelated, black and white style, but I think it'll be a good enough substitute for the Switch for her.

I think I'm getting S some new wool blend t-shirts and a new pair of jeans. And maybe a fancy Japanese chef knife.
And we found a gift basket that my FIL will love, so we decided on that, but still need something for my MIL.

Anyone have a recommendation for a kid's fishing pole? L wants to "fish" in the Bass Pro Shop pond near our house, and I know nothing about fishing. My quick search on amazon shows poles with many little tackle box pieces which makes me twitchy. The only solo poles I see look like they'd snap after her first try.

I can ask my sister’s BF - he has lots of Fishing Opinions and got/is getting my kids real poles for their seventh Christmas, but he also researched kids’ poles.

Seventh Christmas, meaning when they are 7? That'd be so helpful especially because L is 7 this year. Thanks!

I let L pick out this afternoon which charity gift to give in honor of her cousins. MH and I started this the year before she was born so it was super special to have her actually choose! She chose "Feeding a Hungry Baby". ❤

Does S have a flannel shirt that has both blue and maroon in it? Preferably with also cream. Then you wear a cream sweater. You and S wear the same pants, either jeans or khaki or grey chinos. Everyone wears same color shoes, or everyone wears boots (ok if different colors if all same style I.e.boots). Girls would also look good with cream knit tights. You could try to add something cute like a necklace, bracelet, or hair clip that has either blue or maroon in it.
