I hope you don't think I'm accusing anyone of having bad eyes, lol. I am more just fascinated that anyone saw different colors at all. It's like that gold dress thing from 7 years ago or whenever that was. Oh no not at all. The internet seems pretty set on green but you see a lot of different articles or headlines saying either pink or red. I’m sure there’s something out there with official colors and I’m sure I’m wrong in my red and blue assessment. Color perception in the brain is so fascinating to me which is why I clearly am invested in this topic lol. Also because I have synesthesia so color conversations in general are entertaining for me.

It is funny how people can see things so differently. In that picture you posted earlier I can see more pink and green. In general I can maybe be convinced the players are wearing green, but my brain only processed red for the guards. Maybe it was comparing it with the bubblegum pink color in the staircase area? Idk!

jubilantsquirrel The conversation also makes me laugh because we have this carpet in our basement that I am firm on it being a dark dark green color. It was there when we moved in so I have no idea what it is officially called. But my mom and my H are adamant that it is dark blue. My MIL agrees with me that it is dark green. So weird!

I think it's #1 watched show on Netflix globally and I could see it having a broader global appeal/interest compared to some of the other Netflix shows.

It is right up my alley in terms of genre/plot. I could do without a little of the graphic content at times but I also understand why they have it. I think so far the hardest part to watch was the riot, mostly because it was so stressful! How absolutely terrifying that would be. Basically a Hunger Games moment with adults and strobe lights but you can't escape as easily like in HG.

I just finished the season finale. I was underwhelmed and let down by it tbh plus SPOILERING -- utterly disappointed that the Old Man was behind it all. And I hope the cop brother lived and that his message transmitted, so he can come back and foil his brother next season. I know for sure I could never be a Squid Game VIP - nor would I have enjoyed watching fights to the death in the days of yore. Lastly, the writing for the VIP actors sucked, or maybe it got lost in translation a bit. The cringe was real.

I was amazing the old man ended up on top of the scaffolding.

what if you put CC on - would that have worked in place of subtitles? I don't mind subtitles, but my H is vision impaired; I'd have spent all of my time reading out loud to him rather than absorbing the story. I was wondering if the dubbed voices were actually the actors voices. And at the color comment - on my TV they're definitely red and blue. Not a true red by any means, but not pink and the others, definitely not green. ha! That's a good idea, and I might try what jubilantsquirrel suggested. I don't know why I didn't think of that! Accessibility for vision impaired is also a good point. Re colors .... are these not pink and green to you? I'm fascinated lol. I missed this until now! That screengrab definitely looks pink and green! Dang.

Finished it tonight.
…
I don’t doubt that Netflix will order Season 2. The story, I think, plays better if you consider it as an allegory.
When the West inevitably reimagines it, they should cast Nathan Fillian in the role of Cho Sang Woo (218) and Christopher Walken in the role of Oh Il Nam(001).
I moonlight as a a casting director 😅

Just finished it.
Anyone else watch hostel? It reminded me a lot of that movie except less gory. (VIPs, humans for sport)
I liked it. I want another season. I want that season to be that the cops messages went through, 456 teams up with the police, new players are picked and a complete take down of this game and the people involved lol

I finally watched this and I'm jealous of my friends in Korea right now posing with the doll from episode 1!!!
I liked it and was very surprised. I wasn't sure if I would continue after episode one but ended up finishing it. My only question is, how are they able to just make so many people disappear at once and no one says anything? No police reports, nothing? Am I missing something or are they choosing people they know won't be missed?

Based on the games history it’s been going on for 20+ years Like literally hundreds of people go missing at the same time and this seems to happen frequently? I mean I get that Korea is not a small population but it still seems so crazy to me. That this wouldn’t be noticed by some kind of authority. My H said they choose their victims specifically to be people that others will assume ran away for their own safety/get away from their debts or problems and they won’t get reported. Which makes sense but idk… still crazy.

Made it seem like maybe they rotate locations. At least that’s the way I took it.

abbandkaa I didn't think of that re: the guards and color choice but to me, the guards were in pink and the players were in green. Not red and blue, lol. piratecat I'd have been interested to see the character without the dub. It is the voice honestly that bothers me the most. She sounds absolutely unhinged and psychotic most of the time. It is obvious that the character is playing an act but man, the voice is too much. I watched in Korean so I’m not familiar with the dubbed voice but her voice is annoying in Korean too. 😅 but i think her voice makes sense in Korean. I watched a bit of the dubbed version just to hear her and it was wayYyyy worse in English.
