So now how long until they greenlight this? I need my kids vaxxed asap. That said, only one of my three kids will fall under this. My other two both fall into the other TWO age breakdowns 😭 NPR said this morning shots should start going into arms "within weeks"

I'm holding onto the idea that my 5yo will be fully vaxxed and hanging out in the 2 week window by Thanksgiving.

My kids’ pediatrician told me yesterday that they’re tentatively planning (like making sure staff keeps dates free) for weekend clinics in November.
Total anecdote with no inside knowledge, but maybe she has a sixth sense.

Since the 5-11 does is a third of the adult dose will they have new vials to draw from? Will we have to wait for new vials to be shipped to vaccination sites? Hi, it's me, your forever friend anxiety. They will mix them differently so they can get the right dosage. I'm pretty sure they already dilute them with saline or something at the vaccine sites anyways.

I was so excited and then realized I still have one under 5. But I’ll take the vaccinated by Christmas for two out of three kids!

Hi, it's me, your forever friend anxiety. I was reading today that Pfister is shipping out vials for children doses to make sure the amounts are correct. I’m praying they have been manufacturing those babies in advance of this date to tee it up much like they did before the initial EUA. Please, please, please!

I know I mentioned it upthread but for podcast ppl, the Business Wars podcast did a series on the Covid Vaccine development back in April and it’s a pretty interesting listen. I just binged it yesterday and it was really interesting to hear about the timelines and big pharma players.

We have our first positive at the girls' school. It was a good run.

PDQ: I work at a clinic and we were told to prepare to receive the childrens vials within 1-2 weeks from our Dept of Health.
ETA--I guessing it's more like 2 weeks. 1 week would be pretty early to receive and have to store, IMO.

We talked about it in a meeting just today. We had to have a survey in to the DOH by yesterday about how much capacity we could take on. Basically they want it ready to go the minute it can be given.

My kids don't have school on Friday the 29th, so maybe we'll just drive around the state looking for a first vaccine.

Pfizer’s asked for approval from Health Canada for kids 5-11. Comment sections have a lot of “this is child abuse”, “leave kids out of this” and “don’t have kids if you’d give this to them”. Only assholes comment I guess lol.

Okay, let me go back in time and predict a global pandemic and decide against having kids not because of a deadly virus but because of the vaccine that would protect them against it.

Time machines are the only science they trust. Checks out. I was really surprised to find out that quite a few people in the group of CNS lymphoma patients were against getting the COVID vaccine. These are people that have had many rounds of chemo, stem cell transplants, and all sorts of medical intervention, including experimental treatments, and would not be alive without chemicals and science.

I will let my kids go late or skip school to get their vaccine ASAP. The benefits of a SAH DH, he can drive them wherever they need to go. I was at Hy-Vee for my booster and the pharmacist said they would be vaccinating the littles. So unless something changes, that’s my plan.

Our county health department claims it’s possible all eligible 5-11 year olds will be fully vaccinated by Christmas. I don’t know how that works with timelines but I am chomping at the bit.
It seemed pretty confident but I think they have a pretty good sense of demographics based on state trends for vaccinations at this point.

We still have some very vocal parents against the vaccine (and masks) for their kids. Only 30% of eligible kids (12-17) are currently vaccinated. It doesn't make me feel confident for the future

My mom and little sister are getting their first doses today! Both are really nervous and keep calling/texting me to help calm down. I know people have thoughts and feelings on those not vaccinated yet, but they have medical anxiety (so do I) and don’t push any anti vax agenda or anything like that. I’m happy they’ll be more protected and so will those around them. (They both recently got jobs after being laid off for a year!)

Fuuuuuuuuuuck & PDQ
MIL took BIL to the hospital last night and didn’t mention it. It was related to high blood sugars and his back hurts (concerned with his transplanted kidney). Well, he has covid. He had J&J because he didn’t want to have to remember a 2nd trip for the others. It was already a long shot with his immune suppressants. But fuck that she said nada at any point before taking the 3yo for their scheduled Friday. Come on Moderna, I’m counting on you now. Fuck.

Oh clucky I’m sorry. She has Moderna? 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 It does it’s job. And that your BIL recovers quickly from all his ailments. And that the 3yo stays healthy and safe from CV. But also …… to her. Did she know about the positive CV before picking your LO up?
