DD is going to need a bigger tennis racket soon so I guess that’s something else to add to the list!
I looked back on my list from last year and the only things she uses regularly are her tennis backpack and a fuzzy blanket. Yikes. Hopefully I can do better this year!

I need to get my kids to tell us what their top asks are this year. I always feel better once I lock those in and then just focus on filling in with smaller items. My DD(11) says she has no ideas. She got a phone for her birthday and now apparently her life is complete. Which is great, except DS(7) wants a million toys and I don’t want it to look unbalanced. All she says is “scrunchies,” but she has an entire drawer filled with them🤷🏼♀️My H wants to get a trampoline as the big family gift, but is that stupid in the middle of winter in the Midwest? You could always wrap a picture of the trampoline and just buy it closer to warmer weather/when that stuff goes on sale. This is a good idea. It would be something to look forward to in the spring.

The boys need new tablets so that will be part of Christmas (which I hate because I'm cringing at dropping that kind of cash on a single present like that). I think my mom is going to get them luggage. I want to find them a telescope to share. Other than that it will be lesser expensive items like clothes, accessories for the tablets like cases, headphones, etc, and a few small things. R has requested a rubix cube so they will probably get those in their stockings. I saw some cute learner chopsticks on amazon that I thought about for stocking staffers too. Ohh dd would love those chopsticks smile.amazon.com/dp/B07HH1QZZ5/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_FZAEGDXJ06AT9A6W3GGQ

DS1's birthday is in November, so I always start planning now and then do double for him.
Soon to be 7 yo - KiwiCo subscription - Maybe a magazine subscription? - More Legos - Patterned scissors (I'm drawing a blank on the real name). His classroom has some and he loves them
4.5 year old - Hot wheels tracks
Joint gifts - A trampoline, if I can talk H into it. - Tickets to see our local town hockey team.
I'm honestly struggling. My kids have SO much and they just don't play with a lot of it.

DS1 (16) This is for Nov. b-day and Christmas. Garmin watch for cross country to replace his dying Apple Watch, new NBA and MLB ps4 games, Nike basketball socks, Lokai bracelet, stainless steel water bottle for sports, a couple books/comics
DS2 (9) For October b-day and Christmas. Switch games he asked for, refurbished x-box, fancy pens and a journal he asked for, newest Mysterious Benedict Society book, new strings and fun picks for his ukelele, KC chiefs sweatshirt, Harry Potter legos.
I need ideas for my team at work. I went from having 3 direct reports to 9 in a year. They are located all over the country. Company policy is to keep the amount smallish so $10-25 per person. I used to do GCs to our cafeteria or Sbux attached to some popcorn.

Thank you! I needed to start this. I do a google spreadsheet every year to balance number of gifts to open and budget. We usually do a couple of family gifts as well. I share the spreadsheet with my H every year in hopes that he will take any interest/help, but alas, it's not to be. He acts surprised as shit on Christmas Eve when we wrap.

Also my 8 year old wants a guitar to learn how to play. The reviews I've seen on Amazon are crap, and I don't want to drop $$$ on something he may not take to. Anyone get something they like? Our local music store only seems to have the ones over $200 (I looked for his birthday, too).

Our local music store only seems to have the ones over $200 (I looked for his birthday, too). Don’t spend less than $150 to $200 on a guitar. It will be crappy, won’t tune right and will end up discouraging the kid. At 8 a full sized guitar will likely be too big. My 9 yo has a Yamaha mini guitar and that is about the perfect size for him. Watch for sales where you get the guitar, a bag, and a book or other accessories for the regular price of the guitar or consider getting a nicer used one in the $150-200 price point. Also consider a few lessons to get a kid that young started. Just using YouTube and/or a book will be frustrating until they start to understand how to read and form chords, etc.

MY PEOPLE!!!! Last year I had Christmas shopping done and wrapped before Thanksgiving. 🤷🏻♀️ I was a million years pregnant and needed it off my list so I didn’t have to figure it out while in the throes of sleep deprivation. I’m doing it again because it was really nice to not have to think about!

My children are into Harry Potter and vintage warfare, respectively.
One provides plenty of purchasing options, despite my reservations about the creator.
The other is a betrayal of my pinko liberal ideals, and I blame my father who is also at fault for the train obsession.
So....
DD (10): A Hedwig (?) stuffed animal, Hufflepuff phone case, Hufflepuff "stuff." We're also going to redo her room next year, so she can pick out new duvet and sheets to that end. She also wants the next editions in some series she's reading.
DS (9): A remote controlled tank, some sort of daunting tome on the crafts of WW II that he has already added to my Amazon list, and a kiwi crate subscription.
Bagel, my beloved puppy who I do not have yet, will get all the toys. Because she is already my favorite.

If anyone wants to gift a magazine subscription to older kids, I suggest The Week Jr. My kids, 11 and 7, get it and they both really like it. I read it with them, especially my younger one, and I also find it really interesting.

I also got DS some Etsy posters for his room to move it away from little kid to elementary-aged. He asked specifically for Kirby posters.

Although, DD1 was only interested in it for about a month after we got it for her so... If we had invested more in a nicer guitar plus lessons it might have changed things.

I’m getting both of my boys their own iPods and wireless headphones, so that is the only gifts from us. I’m not sure if iPods will go on sale around thanksgiving or if I should just buy the now? Santa also brings one gift each, but I have absolutely no idea what that will be. How old are your kids? I was considering iPods but also am worried that they will break them. they’re 5 and 7. We won’t let the younger one take it out of the house though and will get cases.

We are going to Universal next year (hopefully…come on vaccine for kids!), so I’m hoping to find some stuff she could use for the trip. She also likes the HP bedding at Pottery Barn Teen, so I’m watching for a sale on it.

Me too, I feel like that bedding will be the compromise between her HP obsession and me wanting my house to look nice. I ordered her a version of her Pottermore wand on Etsy (to the tune of more money than I will ever publicly admit, it was like two weeks of dog walking money) bc I feel so guilty about cancelling Orlando for the second time. :/
