Is anyone having a birthday party? I don't feel comfortable with inside parties, and it's definitely too chilly to host a party outside, so we thought we'd take Josie away for a night or two but I'm even struggling with that because I can't figure out an activity to do in mid November.

I'm doing one for M. It will be for a few kids in her class at an art studio.

Evie has never requested a party with friends, so I'm not sure. It helps that she's one of the first birthdays in the school year, so we usually just have family. I'm not sure what she will want to do this year. I'd be okay inviting her best friend, but not a big group.

We’re not. I’m not comfortable with it either. The other night I was asking M what he wanted to do and he started making an itinerary for his day. We haven’t settled on anything, but I was thinking of inviting one or two friends of his to do something and having cake for them. I have no idea what yet.

We are taking L and two friends to a show if the numbers don’t increase.

We will be, but it will be small, just Cadence and 4 friends at a horse ranch, so outdoors.

We did an outdoor party last year with just his closest friends (who we are also friends with the parents). We bought some outdoor heaters and it wasn't so bad, the kids just ran around and I did some party games, while the adults huddled around the heaters and drank lol. He really wants a party so we might do the same this year. I can't think of anywhere to go away that I'd be comfortable with, and he really loves his friends.

I'm jealous of all you southerners that can easily have outdoor events all year around.

We do. It is the norm here. Every single kid has a party. They’re sort of a rite of passage, you can have your first when you turn five (al kids are in school here at that age). All of them are somewhat small between 5/10 kids and drop-off so no parents.
So ds invited 8 friends and we’re going to a nature playground, they have a mud kitchen, they can build huts, there’s an obstacle course and a butterfly garden. Last year we did a scavenger hunt in the dunes. All the kids are in his class, so he sees them everyday anyway.

I'm really irritated we even have to think of this stuff this year. We are considering allowing her to have a small slumber party with kids she usually plays with in the neighborhood. I'm going back and forth on it now. I wish they were vaccinated and I could feel more comfortable about it.

What date is her actual birthday? Could you do it a little early? If it's earlier in November, you could totally get away with it. My birthday was last week, and I remember one year my mom really wanted to throw me a halloween themed party so we had my party sometime in October.

We'd get a hotel nearby and make the most of it.

We’re doing ds’ birthday party coming weekend, just because it was more convenient for us 🤷🏼♀️.

I have always planned to do a party for M one year for Halloween, but that hasn’t happened yet. I have no clue if or when I will ever do it now.

No party here but I would like to find something to do with a couple of friends. We are still in the 60’s/70’s here so it’s possible we can get something going outside.

The boys were playing with their friends and they had out skateboards. I completely forgot he wanted one a year or two ago. So now he is getting a skateboard for his birthday gift. Easy enough and works perfectly for our living situation right now.

My boys have been asking for a laser tag party for 2 years. They are so expensive though. I think I might let each of them take 2-3 friends and do a small combined party. We had a small family party for J and took him to monster jam. So we'll do a small family party for M too.

I bought one at Costco last year that was $50 and came with 4 sets. Can you get one or two of those and find a space where they can play?

We have all kinds of places they could play.

We are just planning a family party for C. We usually invite our good friends (he's C's Godfather) and their kids but they aren't vaccinated so will skip that.

I think we came off with a little bit of an offbeat plan. There's a cat café in New Haven which is only about an hour away from us. You have to make reservations and only one party is allowed in at a time for 45 minutes to have coffee, eat some cookies, and snuggle some adoptable cats. We'll do that, get some New Haven apizz (famous new haven style pizza), stay overnight and then play the next day by ear. The Peabody museum is there (it's under construction right now but if it's open by the time her birthday rolls around it should be cool because there's a great dinosaur exhibit), IKEA and Yale are both in the area, and lots of parks with playgrounds and lighthouses.

I lucked out and we were offered discounted tickets to see the New England Revolution (soccer) play at the Patriots stadium next weekend so that will be his big gift. Then I got him a Cristiano Ronoldo shirt since he is obsessed. I am also going adopt a wolf for him as well. He will be so happy!

Is Playmobil too young for our kids? Cadence keeps saying she wants all the horse sets they have. They did a Spirit line.

M was going through the Amazon catalog the other day and put a marble run on his list. I was grinch grinning when I saw that because I already bought a gravitrax set for him this summer when Target was doing a toy sale.
