It was also a small wedding, less than 50 people. And 100% outdoors. I’m really hoping it wasn’t a bad choice. It was our first big thing since forever. I would feel fine going to a local outdoor wedding. Unless you're body to body with people, outdoors is just fine. To me, that's the biggest thing that has been better about this summer vs last summer. Last summer everything was unknown and you couldn't even go to empty playgrounds. This summer you can space out, be outside and do whatever you want. It's lovely. In seriousness

There’s a declared outbreak at the school we’re zoned for with two classrooms closed. I know some of the kids in our neighbour hood will be home and I don’t trust their parents to keep them in their houses.

So of course I never did go to the dr. But I think it was just some lingering issues from when I was sick 2 weeks ago. I was able to eat soup Monday night, I added in non-dairy yogurt and plain white chicken breast on Tuesday, and rice last night. So I’m getting there.
I still need to at least have a physical and some blood work. Maybe I’ll call next week for my Tuesday tackle.

Whatever this crud is that the girls brought home from school is really kicking my butt today. I thought I was on the mend, and then I developed a cough from post nasal drip. Took cough meds last night, but on an empty stomach, so I woke up at 1am feeling hungry and nauseous at the same time. Ate applesauce then threw it up (but the sushi dinner stayed down just fine) so I ate some sourdough. And today, my head is pounding. Go away cold!!

tj I'm checking in on you and E... How are things over there?? I would call us both back to the 90th percentile of normal? She still coughs when she is too active. I still struggle to eat and have indigestion and rumbly tumbly pretty much constantly still. But we are otherwise moving forward. D and P are still 100% A-ok. How about you? Are you over the worst yet? Are you feeling better?

I actually drank a little coffee yesterday and, while I'm still a little congested, I mostly feel fine.

I got an email from N's preschool late last night. The school is closed this week due to a covid case in a child who attended on the two days N did last week. There are two groups of 10 kids but they all play together for part of the day.
N wasn't considered a close contact but she suddenly came down with a stuffy nose and watery eye right at dinner time today! So she has a test appointment tomorrow morning. I feel like this is it, the moment we've been dreading 😭
MH thinks chances are still high it's not covid. We will see.

I’m triple vaxxed but have a sore throat and chest congestion. Ughhhhhh
Hopefully it’s just random flu season crud. I’m very susceptible to pneumonia so I’m ngl I’m a bit freaked. Trying to take it easy today.

mintyblueair, I’m sure it’s just a cold. All 3 of my girls had stuffy noses, terrible coughs, and fevers last week. All 3 tested negative for covid - we needed to test to go back to school. I’m glad we got them tested but also, I think after 1.5 years of practically no illness, it’s all caught up with us now that classrooms are back to normal numbers of kids even though they’re all masked.

I'm on day 5 of a cold. P had a runny nose for one whole day. M had congestion for two. I had a runny nose, then congestion, now something is sitting on my chest.
At home covid negative. Just annoyed I'm missing this beautiful weather.

N freaked out about her covid test this morning. She was crying beforehand so I asked MH to take her because he's better at restraining the kids for medical stuff. He said she was very, very upset for the swab, but she was happy when she got home and got a cup of hot cocoa for her troubles.

T has a runny nose and slept poorly. I assume from congestion. At home Covid test was negative. Just a cold I think.
A has had congestion for a week or so, and that was also not Covid.
This is all exhausting, eh?

I just sent the email officially pulling N from her preschool. There turned out to be 3 cases of covid in her program. I really struggled with the decision to send her in the first place, so I feel relieved to have made a final decision about it. I'll send her next year when she's vaccinated (🤞).

We saw our pediatrician Friday to get the kids flu shots, and she is (of course) recommending we get the kids COVID vaccinated as soon as it’s available for their ages.
Sadly, she said SO many of their patients are not planning to vaccinate, so their office isn’t even going to order the vaccine. Something to do with the paperwork involved when vaccine doses going unused. She’s instead recommending we go to the local university hospital where they will vaccinate anyone eligible.
I’m not annoyed at the fact that we have to go elsewhere, but I’m just really sad that our doctor says SO MANY of her patients won’t be vaccinated.

I'm really curious to see the vaccine uptake will be for younger kids here.

Our school district has made quarantining after exposure at school optional now.
My kid already had to quarantine from school for 10 days 2x, and therefore has missed a lot of school already this year. So on the one hand, yay. He can be at school more consistently. On the other hand… I’m not sure it’s smart to make quarantining optional after exposure? I admit I don’t know what data they used to make that decision.
Anyway, hopefully my kid will be vaccinated in a few weeks regardless 🤞🏻. Does anyone know if kids will be getting two doses like adults?

Our high school doesn't require quarantine after exposure anymore, but it's because they have a 90%+ vax rate. I do like "test to stay" options that I've heard some schools have, instead of quarantining. What does it even mean to be optional? So the teacher will have to teach some kids at home and some at school? I'm sure it was a financial move. If the state doesn't allow for the excessive absences, the school would lose a ton of funding. But of course, the other option would be masks...

The pediatrician's office won't be giving the covid vax. I hope it's a supply issue and not because I'm in a high anti-vax area.
