Thanks guys. I know a big part of the vaccine is to prevent severe cases, so I'm hopeful that mine will stay mild. I'm nervous about how N's will play out, but he currently has zero symptoms, so fingers crossed it stays that way for him. The school will let me video call into my classes if I'm feeling well enough, so I won't even have to take sick days.
My mom is upset that we have to wait until Monday to go to the doctor to get medicine. I said there's not really a good treatment for now, we're just going for the testing, and she told me I should get hydroxychloroquine. Thank heavens eye rolls don't convey over the phone. I told her I was also not going down to Tractor Supply to get horse dewormer either. She settled on telling me get lots of vitamin D and told me to double up on vitamins. So I had to tell her I was not going to overdose on vitamin A just to get a little extra vitamin D. I'm going to go sit outside with my chickens to get vitamin D. I don't think I can give them covid. My mom has always been full of unhelpful but generally harmless advice, (she tried to tell me what exercises I should do to fix my very jacked up back too), but I just can't with the covid stuff.

N suddenly came down with a runny nose, fever, and sore throat this afternoon. And I have a slight sore throat starting, so we both went for covid tests this afternoon. I don't really think it's covid but yeah, it's crazy how quickly we are already dealing with this. She's only been to preschool three times.

Covid negative here. We’ve all got the cold now. At least it’s now and not next weekend when I have a moms weekend planned with some girlfriends.

Thanks for asking. We all came out negative at this morning's brain swab test, even me! The doctor was very impressed with our quick and effective isolation and we both celebrated the effectiveness of vaccines. She offered an anti-body test if I wanted to confirm that my home positives where for real, but based on getting a faint, then a dark, then a faint again, I'm pretty confident that those were for real, not false positives, and my already-primed immune system did its job quickly. We will continue to quarantine as a family for the week, keeping the boys out of gymnastics and S out of preschool. As long as we all remain symptom free, life will go back to normal next week. Vaccines, testing, and masks FTW!

Our tests were negative, but L is sick now and requires a negative test to go back to school. We went to the test site this morning and were told we had to make an appointment because of how busy it's been. So we have to go back at 6pm tonight.

This didn’t happen to *me* but it was upsetting to see.
I was inside Walgreens filling my prescription today. A woman walked up to the drive thru window (and it was hot as hell out). She said she had an appointment for a drive-thru COVID test that she had scheduled online.
Well, the pharmacy employees would not engage with her because she wasn’t in a vehicle. I do somewhat understand that, because it’s probably a liability issue. But she also was not allowed to come inside to receive a COVID test. BUT IF YOU DONT HAVE A CAR, then what? No COVID test for you? They have tests at urgent care but there is a 2 hr + wait of exposing others to your germs. Plus it may not have been accessible for her to get to.
I just felt terrible that she had made the appointment, walked or ridden a bus to get there in the heat, and still couldn’t be tested because she’s not fortunate enough to have a car.
I contemplated driving her through the drive thru, but I didn’t see her when I left. The pharmacy employees couldn’t have cared less.

That is effin awful charlotte. So awful for her, but also WTF to whomever came up with that rule. Like where is the compassion and the public health common sense to denying someone a test because they don't have a car?

I'm glad you and N are feeling better, violajack ! I, too, am the lucky recipient of a breakthrough positive. Took a rapid test yesterday morning and that line showed up IMMEDIATELY. Fuck. It felt like when I took my pregnancy test with H, lol. I really was testing just in case but turns out it's a good thing I did. Last Thursday, H's sitter let me know that he woke from his nap with a 100.4 temp so I picked him up early and kept him with me Friday. Many snuggles. He was back to his normal self by Friday evening. So then when I started feeling feverish on Sunday afternoon, I thought oh, H gave me his weird fever thing. NBD. My fever broke Sunday evening. But then my knees were achy, too, so I said ok I'll test Monday morning before any of us go anywhere. Positive. I actually feel completely fine. MH tested negative. He and I are both wearing masks in the house, hoping like hell to spare the big kids, but G has coughed a few times this morning and L just went to voluntarily take a nap, which she NEVER does, so I am having J pick up more rapid tests from the Health Dept. They'll be in quarantine with me for 10 days, unless they test positive, and then the clock restarts. I topped off their milk with some of my breastmilk this morning to try to give them some antibodies. Can't hurt, right? Sigh. I blame the baby.

Arrghh with all these breakthrough positives! pbandj714 wishing you a speedy 10 days and I feel like the odds are good that you won't pass it on to your big kids as long as you keep being careful.

E woke up at 4AM with a fever and runny nose. I have a bit of a tickle in my throat so we’re both going to get tested later.

We got L's negative results this morning so he's good to go back to school as soon as his stuffy nose clears up. N is heading back to preschool tomorrow but I'm nervous that this is all going to happen again right away 😑

Just had to pick my kid up from school to quarantine due to direct exposure. Yay. Fingers crossed this vaccine does its job. My messed up lungs cannot with covid right now. It happened again. 🙃 he was allowed to go back on the 14th and he’s already being sent home to quarantine again. Can’t wait to get these kiddos vaccinated.

No covid! But I really feel awful. My throat hurts so insanely badly. I have no voice. It is killing me to swallow. Although technically, I sort of feel better because I’m not puking my guts up, and I’m not so fatigued that I’m sleeping all day. But damn it still sucks.

We did this back and forth for the first month of school. You will be shocked to hear that once they required masks, we went down to less than 1% new cases in schools. But yeah, masks are dumb right? Because ‘Murica.

They decided to reimpliment the emergency order here. We have too many people in the hospital, and there was an outbreak IN a hospital (where apparently only 40% of the staff are vaccinated!?) so the top docs decided to put down their collective feet. People are losing their shit. I have muted so many people and groups lately because I just can't stand all of the whining about "government overreach".
