My only quibble is that I wished it took place ASAP as opposed to after the vaccine gets full FDA approval. But this was what I was hoping for after the recall

Or is the approval only for 16+ right now?

i live in a rural area. Last I knew we are less than 40% vaccinated. It’a a lot of my body my choice people and that Covid is a cold. Our closest hospital is 30 minutes and that’s not equipped for a lot of Covid patients so they get transferred an hour away. And yes they skew very republican here. I think there’s less than 100 registered Democrats where I am. We have a few more Dems, but it's similar. I get so frustrated with people. My family all have gotten it that can so far, but so many others have not.

I think legally it’s very challenging to do a mandate on something that doesn’t have full approval yet.

nelzie , what kind of dental paperwork is required for school? Ignore if you don't want to share. I just read that and felt like...oh shit, is this one of those adulting things I completely spaced on?

We need one too (NY). Ours does say that it’s strongly recommended, not required. It is asked for on the same year’s a physical is required.

Ours are all different just to make it super confusing for parents 🙄 like dental is K and 9, vision is K and 3, physical is PK and K and 7+ for sports, etc

I would love for our Gov to follow CA and do the same re: vaccines fo schools but I wonder if he will since he’s gearing up for a very intense election next year.

We do have a program that if you want to costs nothing and they have a local dentist they tram with to provide services. There’s never a cost to the students family (we signed up and it covered sealing DS1’s molars). But they haven’t been able to do screenings since Covid hit.

I felt much better today from my cold symptoms so I got my booster 🎉
Stopping to treat myself with a frappachino since it’s apparently 80* outside and will chill on the couch the rest of the night.

We haven't been to the dentist since early in the pandemic when DD chipped her tooth. My office has 3 chairs with dividers so no individual rooms and the kid's has 3 chairs in the same room. At the time they were only allowing one family in at a time, but I don't think they're following the same rules. DS(3) has a dark spot on his back molar that I'm pretty sure is a stain but I probably need to just take him in.
It feels so close to vaxxing that I'm not sure I want to risk it, although it'll probably be months for him

I don't know what to do about the booster since I got Moderna. I'm just at 8 months (is it 8 months from the 2nd shot or 2 weeks after it?). Higher risk due to weight and being a healthcare worker. But from what I've heard they don't think we need it yet since the dose was higher? So do I wait for the Moderna booster to be approved? I feel like we haven't really heard much about a timeline for that. Can I even get a Moderna booster since it's not approved yet? When I scheduled my appointment through my work it allowed Pfizer or Moderna but not J&J (and it had a note about J&J that I didn’t fully read since it didn’t apply to me). What I don’t know is what shot you get if you say you got Moderna first and second. I’ll try to remember to ask when I go this weekend. nelzie following up on this. I asked and they said they are not giving boosters to people who had Moderna at this time. And this is even for people who are 8+ months out as most of our employees are. They confirmed I had Pfizer about 4 times when I was there. The nurse who gave me my shot said someone came in and didn’t have their card and claimed not to have had Moderna. So they gave them the Pfizer shot and they had a bad reaction. Total anecdote but crazy nonetheless. I’m hoping the Moderna approval comes soon as my aunt got that one and she is 7 months out. She has risk factors and hangs out with her unvaccinated friend a lot. I need her to be in tip top immunity status. Especially before the holidays.

I saw that the FDA is meeting in a couple of weeks to discuss the booster for Moderna and J&J so hopefully we will know more soon.
