Just finished my caramel macchiato with Lavazza.
This is my last week of 1 h round-trip kid drop offs in the mornings and I am stoked. It's also our last week of 3x childcare payments! Thank freaking goodness. DH and I decided that since we're used to not seeing that money, we'll just start throwing the same amount (minus H's weekly fee) at my student loans to knock those out as quickly as we can. Then we can start seriously looking into adding on to the house. I'm a little giddy. I guess this is being an adult, huh?
We'll find out which teacher(s) the kiddos have for K on Thursday and their first day is next Wednesday. I took the whole week off work so we can drop H off at the sitter and do fun things on Monday and Tuesday. My babies aren't babies anymore.

Kids are at the neighbors the next 3 days.
I need to double check that my kids have everything they need for school. Mostly clothing and shoes.
E is going to start Martial Arts this week with C. I need to pull a calendar and add Girl Scout meetings and send the dates we expect to attend MA (it overlaps on Thursdays).
F has soccer tonight.
Baked sweet potatoes with beans, pulled pork and slaw tonight.

She’s adorable PB! We are 3 payments away on our minivan! And we just finished up summer camp payments! I’m excited to start tossing money into savings for our house! We also just got the architect contract. So there goes that money.

She looks so big in her glasses pbandj714!! Lots of coffee for me today. We had my 3yo nephew and 10 month old niece with us Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. My brother and SIL got back yesterday evening and left first thing this morning to head back home. I want a nap already. I have a PTA board meeting this week to finalize our budget and a meeting with my new boss (that sure is weird to say lol), but other than that, we thankfully have a very slow week.

I just finished a cup of vanilla flavoured coffee and am contemplating a second cup.
The asbestos removal people are here this morning. They've taken out some things and are going to set up their containment chambers now. We're also getting a thunderstorm right now. Fortunately, C was unfazed by the noise and fell asleep just fine for her morning nap 🙌
The big kids' bedroom will be inaccessible due to the containment area so I'm going to sleep with them in the basement guest room tonight. I predict shenanigans at bedtime.

I got some really great sleep over the weekend and I feel like a new woman. I need to do that more often. We also cleaned the garage to get ready for our Poutine Party (we're cooking in the garage with the party in our front yard) and that was super satisfying. My sister visited at the end of last week and I've heard of no one getting covid-like symptoms (them or us), so hopefully we're in the clear. That's a definite advantage of Delta being faster than old covid. My dad is visiting later this week and DH is going to Canada next weekend (!!!!! so unbelievably exciting for that to finally happen).
School is starting in 17 days and I cannot believe how much our lives are going to change when that happens. I'll be able to get to work an hour earlier and stay until 5 almost every day. We won't be paying for 5 day/week daycare. DH won't be picking them up anymore. They will be on the same schedule for school vacations. It will be amazing.

Oh I also ordered some yarn and crochet hooks! I haven't crocheted since I was a kid, but I want something to do in the in between times besides looking at my phone that I can easily put down when someone wants my attention. And the kids would love to have washcloths or something, I'm sure. Scarves maybe. I only ever learned single and double stitches as a kid, so I'd be interested to learn other stitches and learn how to use a pattern.

1st grade starts Thursday for DS1. I can’t believe it, but I’m so ready. I am so deeply worn out from the summer. I hope we can get into a good rhythm this fall.
Tuesday is meet the teacher night. I’m hoping one of DS’ soccer teammates or summer camp buddies is going to be in his class.

pbandj714 she is so freaking cute!! I saw the federal student loan pause has been extended to January. For us that’s a blessing. After DS1 gets settled in school this month I’m going to be job hunting for a higher paying job. Good for you for paying yours off soon!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻

I just went into the basement bathroom and stepped in a puddle... The bathroom that's being demolished right now is directly above. It's not a large amount and the guys upstairs say there's no leaks anywhere in there 🤔🤔🤔
We shut all the water off but wtf 😭
Maybe it's the rain? Ugh.

They're stopping work and are going to cut open the subfloor to find where it's coming from...

This morning my nice neighbor brought me a coffee so I drank some, despite being off caffeine, because I wanted to be grateful.
I’ve been drinking my tea and coffee with stevia from my… stevia plant. It works better in my tea than coffee - the herbal-ish taste works with tea.
Back to maple syrup and cream for decaf coffee!

We just got back from a trip to see family in upstate NY. We spent last night in Virginia (halfway point), so I had Lavazza coffee with sugar and half and half at the hotel this morning. We stopped at King’s Dominion on our way home and spent an epic afternoon there. I’m glad to be home, and glad I’ll only have to work 4 days this week. We are getting into the routine of the new school year. Hoping for a quiet week (knock wood).

I've been on a Colonial History reading kick, and I literally wondered when reading my book last night if anyone from the board lives near Williamsburg. I know you don't, but this still made me chuckle.

They're stopping work and are going to cut open the subfloor to find where it's coming from... Noooooo! They didn't find anything and the dripping was slow, and then stopped. They said there must have been some overflow in the vanity or toilet pipes when they disconnected them and it ran down. It rained hard overnight and there were no more drips, so it couldn't be the rain. However, the storm overnight caused half of the fence on one side of our yard to collapse 🤦♀️

I went for a four hour float down the river yesterday with my two oldest friends. We’ve known each other since we were 10 and I just love them so much. It was the best. I’m back at work today and miserable hahaha.
I have Friday-Sunday off and my sister in law and family are coming to town. We have some fun stuff planned!

Yesterday I drank my first 2 cups of coffee at an outdoor breakfast Cafe with mh and the kids, and I drank my second cup while strolling on the boardwalk and beach. We had a few hours outside before it started pouring for the entire afternoon. It's rained more in the past couple days than it has all summer combined, which we really needed because things were crispy.
This week we have some minor house repair/cleanings happening and will be going to the beach and pool in between because it's going to be wicked hot. One more month left before school starts.

I guess I'm so in survival mode right now that I forgot yesterday was Monday, but I've been drinking my coffee with a caramel macchiato creamer the past couple of days. W has been working on teeth, a growth spurt, and a sleep regression all at once and we're all exhausted because of it. Last night was the worst night since she got over her colic, and wound up with lots of screaming and tears for all parties. And then a stupid fly decided to wake me up a full hour and a half before I normally get up. Of course I went and got a swatter and then it was nowhere to be found. So tired T.T

My kids are at a 4-H summer camp this week and absolutely LOVING it. They couldn't shut up about riding horses yesterday.
I have an incredibly busy work week full of meetings and already feeling the zoom fatigue.

It's not Monday anymore, but this is about a thing that happened Monday, so I'm putting it here.
Back story, on Thursday, an email went around our teaching group about an opening at a local private school for a strings teacher. I miss teaching, so I threw a resume at it, because what's the worst that could happen? Well, they called me back within a few hours asking me to fill out the long form application. I was on the way to gymnastics with the kids, so that gave me something "interesting" to do while there. They followed up with a request for an interview on Monday.
So, on Monday, I drove down and had a wonderful, hour long chat about strings teaching. I have very mixed feelings about this. I definitely would love the job, but the logistics temper my excitement. In fact, the pros and cons are about equal when it's all laid out. Despite being highly qualified, there are two things that may be deal breakers based on what they really want out of a new teacher, and they had a few other candidates, so I really have no idea what my chances even are.
School starts in a week, so they have to decide quickly and my brain will not shut up about it. It's barely been 24 hours. I'm really fine with either outcome, but I just want to know right this very second.

Oh boy, I got the job. The Superintendent called to say they're sending over a preliminary offer. It'll mean getting the toddler up at 6am as he'll come with me to their preschool while the older kids stay home with a list of schoolwork to work through while they hopefully don't bother my husband too much. I'm hoping this won't require nanny support, but it's not off the table either. My brain is now buzzing with logistics. But I'm so excited to have my own strings program! (probably. this is a preliminary offer, I don't yet know if the numbers will work out)
