snowmoon - I'm in a group on FB called "almost unschoolers" and I noticed that a lot of parents and kids in the group have ADHD or are on the spectrum. It's more about child led learning, and I think the fact that it's less planned seems to attract people who have issues with following curriculums. Everyone seems to come at it a different way, but the extreme version (letting kids do whatever they want with absolutely no interference) is not present in that group

I feel like our bentgo's are getting raggedy since we've still used them all year... But then last year M decided buying lunch was cooler. What will this year bring? I cannot spend $43 dollars on a bento box for a stainless one. Why? Other options? So I have 2 of the large stainless steel ones. They are easier to wash and dry. Plus they don’t have plastic clips that break. So I don’t bother with a backup for each kid. I think they are worth the investment. But I will probably use them for myself when the kids are done. Same here. We’ve had latches break on a couple of bentgos, which I also like otherwise. But at $20/per bentgo, stainless has already surpassed them 2x.

I’ll check it out. Thanks!

Our district is offering free breakfasts and lunches for all kids for the 2021-2022 school year.
I would love for DS1 to eat school lunch almost every day so I can save that money and avoid packing lunches. I can already foresee that he is going to want me to pack one every day. 😅

We are laid back and go with my kids’ interests but, I also have workbooks that we go through and use as well. I try not to stress too much about getting a certain curriculum covered. The beauty of homeschooling is the ability to learn with your children and at their individual pace.

M had breakfast provided at camp all summer. So of course this morning, her first day of school, I forget to give her breakfast. There were a couple of crackers in my car, but I’m definitely feeling like MOTY over here.

Oh, this reminds me to check and see if our district is doing that again this year. I vaguely remember seeing that they were, but I don't trust my memory for anything.

We are independently homeschooling again, and the kids loved picking out supplies last week at the dollar store. L is in a weekly homeschool PE class, and I ordered L the New Balance tennis shoes mc13 recommended in GD 😂

You give your kids an option? Our kids choices are free breakfast and lunch at school, or pack it themselves, bring it home from school and unpack it, wash it, and repack it’s for the next day.

Oooh- this is going to have to be the new rule in my house! I’ve always joked that if I win the lottery I’ll hire someone to pack the lunches. People always think I’m kidding, but I’m definitely not.

Should I just pay the freaking $25 for the planetbox lunchbox to fit the bento I already have, or keep searching for another one.
Edit: I got the damn box.

I dragged my kids out of the house at 8:15am (which is early for us to physically be somewhere) to get the free breakfast and lunch bags for distance learning and homeschooled kids. They changed to morning instead of lunch pickups for this new school year. L didn't want any of the food except the plum 😒. Good thing I like egg burritos and grilled cheese sandwiches while she makes her own pb&j LOL.

Well. I just ordered 2 large ss planet box lunchboxes, and a carry case. So I'm done there. Finally got some happy masks, but I need to order more. I just realized that my 7yo has no idea how to tie shoelaces so I guess we will start working on that, but he doesn't even own any shoes with laces yet.
I ordered some super cute backpacks from llbean for both kids.
Making progress...

milano how did you manage to get happy masks when they weren’t sold out? Stalked the restock and added everything I could to my cart. I still want more but I managed to get like 2-3 masks per kid and 1 for myself. It was like goddamm diaper special prints all over again!

I started sorting through supply lists and all our junk today. Found everything they need except crayons and markers. We have both, of course, but they're all half-used or half-working, and I do think it's nice to start a new school year with new markers and unbroken crayons! SO LUXURIOUS.
I haven't even gotten a supply list for M's kindergarten class, but someone posted it on FB (inside agent in the school office, I think?) so I'm working off that.
Here's a question: If this was your list, what would you assume the last item is asking for? Photo to follow.

ovenrack, since it’s below other paper, I’d assume actual tissue paper.

ovenrack to me “tissue paper” always means the gift wrapping stuff. But I would assume actual tissues is what a school would need?

Since they ask for paper towels, I would send facial tissue.
They will use it regardless.
