Anyone else still waiting on their 2020 tax return? I filed mine the last week in February. At the end of may/beginning of June, I got a letter from the IRS that said my 1095A didn’t match what they had on record. I pulled the form and compared it to what I entered on TaxAct and it was accurate, but I sent a certified letter that was marked as received on June 5th. They said I’d receive a check in 6-8 weeks. 8 weeks was last week… We're still waiting. All we can get is that it is still processing

I want to start giving monthly for climate change...does anyone have a recommendation as to a good, reputable charity? I was thinking about Tradewater but I'm new to this so thoughts welcome.

Teenagers will be the death of me, I swear. I thought babies were so hard, and now I’d take a newborn any day of the week. If anyone here has teens and wants to commiserate, feel free to send me a pm. Middle school age was the worst for DS. He's still sassy at 17, but I think we have a pretty good relationship for mom/teen at this point. Way better than mine was (and still is if we're being honest) with my mom at least

And now that I've caught up on the rest, I'm really dreading the teen years with DD. She'll be 9 in Oct and is already very sensitive and emotional. So much different than DS. I just got a therapist rec from the pediatrician and I need to look I to setting something up soon. I want her to have good tools to deal with her feelings, which honestly I could probably use too

An update of sorts: I set a therapy appt for my oldest. I also bought the book 14 talks to have by age 14, and I’ve been reading it. It’s helping me reframe my mindset of what our relationship can be like.

My therapist and I are starting EMDR next week. We wanted to do it a long time ago but then covid hit and we have been doing virtual sessions ever since. But next week we will mask up and sit outside in her backyard (her office is attached to her house) since you have to do it in person for it to be effective. I’m really looking forward to it but also sort of scared because my assignment before next week is to write down my 3 most severe traumatic memories and pinpoint the most painful/triggering parts of them. So. Not fun. But, I am really hoping I get somewhere with it.

Good luck willow. Re: climate change and activism, I have been trying to change a lot of things at home to be more sustainable. Some thinks I like: Blueland hand soap tablets Pela phone cases and watch bands (they also have a Kickstarter, Lomi, which is a countertop composter coming in December) Hibar shampoo/conditioner bars My main goals are to buy products with less packaging and that are recyclable. Anyone else have any favorite sustainable stuff they use? I’m especially looking for a moisturizer that is not in a plastic container.

beaf12 I get lotion bars from a local soap maker but still have to breakout the cetaphil during the winter. I love Blueland. I use the hand soap, dishwasher, laundry detergent, and spray cleaner. I do not like their powdered dish soap though. I switched to Unpaper Towels. We only use regular paper towels for super gross messes now. Who Gives a Crap paper products. Love their paper towels. The toilet paper was an adjustment. The tissues are rough but no one has been sick enough to use them constantly since we switched. Coffee drinkers should look into shade grown coffee. It’s better for the birds. I get Birds & Beans from a local birding store. My friend swears by the Bites toothpaste, floss, etc but I haven’t tried it.

There was only one spot that was really bad that had a "deep pocket" according to the hygenist. It hurt bad enough my eyes started leaking.

I wound up giving to GreenWave, which helps set up sustainable, regenerative ocean farms that both sequester carbon and encourage biodiversity. Really fascinating. www.greenwave.org/our-model

beaf12 I use regular coconut oil as body moisturizer. I buy a pint jar and transfer some to a smaller jar to keep in the bathroom (the rest you can use for cooking). A little goes a long way so it lasts forever.
